Eclipse: Second Dawn - Scripted by Wyko

Description
About This Mod
This mod brings the exciting 4x gameplay of Eclipse: Second Dawn for the Galaxy to Tabletop Simulator! Building upon the hard work of tetrach, kay, and Zel / OS, this update contains extensive automation tools for game setup, turn order management, round cleanup and fully automatic scoring.

If you're interested, feel free to join our Eclipse Discord[discord.gg] to find regularly hosted games and active discussion on this mod's development!

Please give the mod a thumbs up and leave a comment if you liked it! For feature requests or bug reports, please share them in the discussions area.

Initial Setup
This mod contains a lot of automation to make the game start quickly and easily.
  • Automatic NPC Selection: A random Guardian, Ancient, and GCDS tile is automatically selected for use during the game.
  • Board Setup: You have the option to automatically fill in unused player spaces with warp tiles or guardian hexes
  • Turn Order Variant: Player turn tracker markers of the appropriate race are now automatically drawn from the bag and painted the player's color as soon as you get your player board.
  • Rise of the Ancients Races: Added three 1st edition races: Rho Indi and the Wardens and Guardians of Magellan
  • Tech Setup: All technology is dealt and placed automatically and randomly
  • Tile Pruning: Sector 3 tiles auto-prune according to the number of players
  • Player Setup: Automatically set up your play area with the push of a button
  • Random Race: Can select a random race for you

Gameplay Automation
Anything we can do to make the game run smoothly.
  • Turn Tracking: Players do not need to manually place their race markers on the turn tracker board. As soon as a player flips their Action card to "Passed" their marker automatically moves to the next available spot on the tracker.
In case it's needed, players can still unlock and manually rearrange the turn tracker markers and the script will recognize it. At the end of the round, the turn order is automagically updated and the player turn is passed to the new first player. Turn tracker markers are then removed from the board.
  • End of Round: At the end of the round, colony and pass cards auto-refresh and the turn marker advances automatically
  • Cleanup: Automated clean-up when starting a new round (remove damage cubes, refresh colony ships, return reputation tiles, ...)
  • Automated Scoring: There's a Score button on the main tech board. Press it, and the script will show you a real-time score for the game!

QOL Improvements
Little things to make your day a little bit better
  • Tech Tiles -> Ship Parts: All technology tiles tied to ship parts are now "infinite bags" of those ship parts. Click, hold, and drag the technology to your board, and then you can click and drag the ship part from the tile you just got!
  • Easy Hex Placement: Hexes auto-resize themselves to fit on the grid more easily
  • Auto Skip Turn: Sometimes you just want to grab a coffee when you pass and don't have any reactions. Now you can! A turn skipper has been placed directly above each player's Action/Pass marker. All skippers are automatically reset when the Next Round button is pressed.
  • Discriminatory Snap Points: Snap points on the player area (resources, populations, boards, and initiative) only snap to their matching objects. So, for example, a population cube won't be pulled around by an initiative slot if you drop them a little bit carelessly.
  • Quick Ship Parts: Races with initial techs spawn with those tiles already on their boards (Remember, tech tiles are infinite bags of those techs)
  • Return Influence Button: Quickly return spent action influence disks to the tracker with the push of a button

Note: If you discover any bugs, please leave a comment and describe as best you can what specifically led to the problem. If you can describe the steps needed to reproduce the bug, that would be even better!

From the Box

Eclipse: Second Dawn for the Galaxy is the updated core game of the space opera masterpiece from designer Touko Tahkokallio and publisher Lautapelit.fi.

Eclipse is a "4X" game where players will command a human or alien species that explores, expands, exploits, and exterminates their way to victory. Over 8 rounds, each player will select actions to achieve their goals, carefully managing resources, engaging in epic battles with one another and the Ancients that lie in wait. Only one will guide the galaxy toward the second dawn.

Setup

Once all players are in the game and have chosen a color, click the Set Up Game button. This button runs the scripts that handle the game setup. These scripts are based on the number of seated players, so if the button is clicked early you won't get the right number of techs or tiles and will have to manually correct.

All races are laid out in rows at the end of the table. Click the button next to a race to select it. The game will automatically arrange the appropriate tiles around your player area. For certain races, an extra Fleet object will be placed in your area as well, containing race-specific fleet models you can use to replace the default models.

To use the Pulsar/Nebula/Black Hole/Supernova advanced sectors, chose your favorites from the red bag and drop them into the appropriate Sector 2/3 stacks before first clicking the Set Up Game button. Minor Species are dealt automatically from the brown bag. If you don't want to use them just ignore or delete the tiles.

With 2-5 players, draw Guardian sectors from the purple bag and place them on the empty starting locations. Alternately, you can shrink the galaxy with the big warp overlay tiles from the blue bag above the supply board! This is recommended for 5 player games.

Thanks
  • to NaaR, so providing several excellent graphical assets!
  • to Zee Germans, for all the great scans of Second Dawn tiles and the extra Worlds Afar components.
  • to tetrach, for the original TTS mod from which all these subsequent modules have been derived.
  • to Zel / OS for their work on expanding the mod
  • to Kay for their work on automating the player area setup
  • to everyone at Kolossal Games and Lautapelit.fi
  • to SynthDark for the models for the GCDS, Monolith and Orbitals, as well as updating the Hive tiles to the new artwork.

@SynthDark: Thanks for letting me know! I'll add a credit for the content. Also, to @everyone else out there: I removed the missing models and replaced them with basic Terran ones for now. Slightly less fun aesthetic, but the mod works again, including all the scripting. Let me know if there are any issues!

Hi All. I have played this in RL and want to try on TTS. Can anyone help with discord (Im quite new to discord) thanks. Would be good to start with a turn based game of it

Small note but the models for the GCDS, Monolith and Orbitals were made by me, as well as the work to update the Hive tiles to the new artwork. The ancient and guardian models while not made by me were at least edited by me.

If you're giving mentions to other creators I would also like a mention if you wouldn't mind. I've also got other expansions updated not included in this mod if you'd like to include them.

amazing version, would it be possible to add a setting to input a different ammount of rounds(as in house rules) to allow the script to still work and deal tech and calculate the final score even if later than 8?

On the Eclipse Regulars discord server: https://discord.gg/DqA6x5Jp7X

From RazilinTera: This is a OneDrive link with a Mods folder in it.
If you copy this over the Mods folder for TTS (Default location:

C:\Users\cosul\OneDrive\Documents\My Games\Tabletop Simulator).

Now this will delete the content for any other games/mods you have downloaded for TTS. But it should get all the content for Wykos scripts onto your computer.
Not 100% sure this will work for everyone, but it did work for me with a new TTS install which did not have the missing files, and now it opens fine.

RazilinTera: Actually... provided you dont delete your folder... it should just insert the new files... so you shouldnt lose anything.

Love the effort here of Wyko and the foundation creators. GREAT job!. However, mamok.com models for ship do not load and therefore there are no player ships (ancient, guardians, and GCDS load fine). I am going to try to overlay another ship set workshop and see if that works.

It looks like all the OBJs hosted on marnok.com are broken. Would suggest hosting them elsewhere and updating the mod if possible.

This is amazing great job! (and of course props to original modders!)

Yeah, the 2-play version is specific to those colors.
