Centralise Inheritance Permissible

Description
Gives you more control of succession. You can take the decision to centralise inheritance which disinherits all heirs which are already landed (this decision can be undone in case an heir dies or inheritance changes in some other way). The idea is that it makes sense for a powerful ruler to leave an inheritance to each of their children but that players should have more of a say in how this inheritance is divided. This version has almost no requirements to take the decision but a different version is available as Centralise Inheritance Default.

Unlike regular disinheritance this version of the trait does not remove the heirs claim or anything like that. It only means they can not inherit your titles (or titles from other dynasty members)

Let me know if there are any issues.

@Orthodontist Andy

Thanks, that's useful info. Will look into it.

This mod no longer works in the current game version. In case you or anyone else wants to update it, then you'll need to change the code of the reduced inheritance trait from "can_inherit_from_dynasty = no" to "inheritance_blocker = dynasty" then the trait will work properly again.

Thank you for making this. Looking forward to giving it a try. Being forced into Partition is one of the things that ruins CK3 for me, and this seems to be the best way to deal with the game designers' decisions without completely rewriting the game. It feels like a fix, rather than a cheat the way some other succession mods do (like the one that just unlocks Primogeniture from the start). I like that this simply gives me more control over the succession, while still allowing the game to be played more or less how it was meant to be. Will let you know my thoughts once I've had a chance to play with it for a bit.

Hi. I like the idea of this mod :) not trying to make a tall order here, but can you let the AI also do this? for example, AI who has landed children, who also has unlanded heir, who finally is also in poor health will try to secure their inheritance and activate this decision. it'll make the AI more interesting for sure.

Go there, get the files in that folder (it may be a zip file in which case you'll have to extract it but probably not) and put them in the folder that was created when you pressed create mod (where you found the .mod files (Documents -> Paradox Interactive -> Crusader Kings III -> Mod))

Don't overwrite the descriptor.mod file which should be the only thing in the folder in question.

Then just change whatever you want in the mod, most files can be opened with a text editor (unless they are pictures). For this mod go to the folder called decisions in the common folder and change the file in there with a text editor. It should be pretty obvious what everything does so if you want to make small changes that's how you'd do it.

In general if anyone wants to make small changes to the mod (such as increasing or removing the prestige penalty of the decision) you can follow the following procedure:

1: Start the launcher and go to All installed mods -> Mod Tools -> Create Mod

It doesn't matter what you call it, just fill in the fields that pop up and click create

2: Go to Documents -> Paradox Interactive -> Crusader Kings III -> Mod

You'll find a bunch of .mod files, open them with a text editor (such as Notepad) and you'll see a file path where the mod is stored on your computer

...

Sure, it's now available as Centralise Inheritance Tiered for one tier lower and T2 for two tiers lower.

Thank you, in many ways, this is the solution to the partition system many people have been asking for. That said, maybe you could make a version in which simply being landed isn't enough to satisfy the requirements of being removed from the inheritance? For instance, maybe as an emperor, each child needs to have at least 3 counties or a duchy to count as adequately provided for or the like?

I forgot to mention, the decision doesn't disinherit your primary heir, even if they are landed.
