Let me know your thoughts and opinions below!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--EXPERIENCE--
I am currently level 737 with Enforcer, and have 99% of my play time in Star Wars Battlefront 2 as Droideka.
(BECAUSE THEY ARE COOL OKAY?)
I downloaded this game just to play as them.

This guide is based on my matches in Republic Era Capital Supremacy, which is basically all I play.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*--IMPORTANT--*
KEEP AWAY FROM CLONE EYES. You B1 buffoons better not let the clones hack into this!

1. UNIT PROPERTIES
This section is mostly for fun, but it does have some useful information.
Let's take a look at our Rollie boys.
1a. Health Points
Droidekas have HUGE health pools.

Combat Form:
Default HP: 350
"Battle Hardened" Star Card: 420

Shield HP: 600

Total Range: 350-1020
(1120 Max with Officer HP Buff)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wheel Form:
Default HP: 525
"Battle Hardened" Star Card: 630

This is due to 50% Damage Reduction in wheel form.
1b. Speed

Droidekas are the FASTEST infantry unit in Wheel Form.
They are the SLOWEST in Combat Form.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Droideka Speed rank in a loose ghetto list...

1. Droidekas
2. Aerials
3. Heroes
4. Specialist/Assault Speed Abilities
5. Most Infantry

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
More Detailed List

* = Explanation
? = Loose Guess

1. Star Fighters
2. Speeders
3. *TX-130 Saber Tanks?
4. Droidekas
5. **Aerials
6. ***AT-RT?
7. Most Heroes
8. Most Infantry

*Technically Saber Tanks move faster than Droidekas and Aerials at full acceleration.
However, their speed is more situational and they aren't super agile. They turn clunky, are slow before full acceleration, and maps have obstacles that can easily block their advance. On maps like Kashyyyk, they can get from start to finish very fast.

**Aerials are more agile vertically, but Droidekas move faster consistently on the horizontal plane.

***This is unconfirmed, but AT-RTs might move at about the same pace as Droidekas, though are way less agile.

Please nitpick this list, I'm curious of the true placement myself!
1c. Weapon

Droidekas have Twin Blasters, which are powerful weapons at CLOSE RANGE.
The Twin Blaster damage falls off at a distance quickly.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Within 10 Meters:225 DPS
30 Meters and Beyond: 50 DPS

Overload Within 10 Meters: 300 DPS
Overload 30 Meters and Beyond: 66.66 DPS
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Explosive Damage
The Twin Blasters do indirect damage within 2 meters of their shot.
Within 1 meters of the small blast radius, twin blaster shots do up to 5 damage.
2. STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES
2a. Strengths

-Huge HP Pool
-Deadly in 1v1s against many units
-Low Cost (Only 1000 Battle Points)
-Great at Scouting, Flanking, and Escaping
-Can sometimes take on multiple enemies at once
-You can act as cover for your squishier teammates
-Can pressure Jedi through their block with weapons
-Can wait around corners to ambush incoming enemies
-Your presence alone can intimidate and slow enemy advances
>>>On the opposite end, people can be very aggressive and throw free kills at you
-You distract and occupy enemies so your team can pick them off
-You can lay down decent suppressing fire for your team to advance
-A group of Destroyers can sometimes rush and cause extensive damage to the final objective
2b. Weaknesses

-Terrible DPS at longer ranges
-Combined Fire kills Droidekas very fast
-Need to have very high situational awareness
>>>Need to be defensive; make enemies come to you if you can't sneak up on them
>>>Engaging at bad places is near instant death
-Slow animation transforming into combat and wheel form
-Earning Battle Points can be slow compared to other units
-Huge profile which makes it almost impossible to miss shots on you
>>>Open maps can leave you as a huge sitting duck of a target
>>>Big vehicles can easily land shots and tear you to pieces
>>>Sentry Gunners out-trade you at farther ranges
-Jedi can cut right through your shields and capitalize on your slow speeds
-Must hard track one target at a time; quickly overwhelmed from different angles
-ION Weapons completely annihilate your shield, especially Clone Commando Grenades
3. GENERAL STRATEGY
What is my purpose?

Tank, Flank and Spank!

What does this horrible phrase mean?

It's all closely connected. Let me educate you.

TL;DR at the end of each.
3a. TANK

The Support Tank Roll

Destroyer Droids have an large menacing frame, with loud scary sounds.
As a Droideka, you will attract lots of gunfire and attention.

This is both a Strength and Weakness.

The good news is, that you are designed to take brutal damage...damage that would otherwise completely annihilate your weaker teammates.

**You can make people work very hard to kill you**
**You keep attention on you and off your teammates**
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tanking as Droideka is cover and situational awareness. Yup. Just like everyone else!

Find a good spot to contest.

Droidekas are given super tools for absorbing damage and returning suppressing fire from fortified positions frequently.
You can use your explosive shots to relentlessly harass people behind cover that approach.

Your presence halts advances, absorbs fire, and you kill people who get too close to your area of denial.

**You want to make yourself as hard to push past and annoying to kill as possible, especially while defending objectives OR your team.**
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This list sums it up

1. Find hot spot
2. Find Cover
3. Pop shield
4. Gratata down chokepoint
5. Hide when shield goes down
6. Repeat 3-5 until bad guys go bye bye
7. Repeat Step 1
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sometimes after a long fight using this strategy, you might just save your team from a loss in the last desperate moments.

The more time someone spends trying to kill you, the less time they focus on your team and the objective.
In other words, you give your team opportunities for kills and the objective.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Important
Know when to fall back. You can only take so much damage. If too many enemies approach, find a safe area to fall back and re-engage.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't engage when your shield is down!! You are vulnerable, especially to focus fire.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Know where to relocate. You need to use your scouting abilities via your speed to move around the battlefield and scan for areas of contest. If no clones are pushing your position, wheel up, and move around to a new hot spot.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TL;DR
-Try to keep the enemy from advancing
-Look for places near your team and offer supporting fire with your distracting presence
-Harass enemies behind cover with your explosive damage
-Don't stand out in the open! Look for cover to trade damage from
-Be aware of how many enemies are rushing you. Know when to retreat
3b. FLANK and SPANK

The Flanker Ambush Roll

One of the most useful traits of a Droideka is to be a Distraction and a Flanker for your team.

Tank is a more DEFENSIVE play style.

Flank and Spank is the more AGGRESSIVE play style.
It has TWO approaches.
**ANNOYING DISTRACTION**
OR
**SNEAKY KILLER.**
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Distraction
Think of the Dreadnought Defense...
When you go into wheel form and roll around behind enemy lines, you can cause a HUGE distraction with your loud ass, fast, hard to kill presence.

There are many times I have been able to distract heroes from pushing with the troopers.
One favorite example of distractions:
-be me
-rolling around behind clones on dreadnought phase 2
-obi wan sees me
-begins chasing me

-30 seconds of circles later
-obi wan vocalizes "You are wasting your time"
-the irony
-roll around maybe another 20s
-he finally gives up when his team starts complaining
-50 seconds down a hero for clones
-laugh in Rollie

**Make your presence known and exploit enemy aggro.**
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sneaky Killer
This section is exactly as simple as you'd imagine.

Once you learn the maps, you will learn where clones spawn, and how to use the best little nooks and crannies to sneak up on kills.

To-Do List
1. Wait until the enemy team stops looking for you
2. Find spot semi-close behind clones
3. Do quick 360 to make sure nobody sees you
4. Fry chicken
-IF nobody saw you, repeat 2-4
-IF you were spotted, RUN and HIDE, then repeat from step 1
>>>Think Alert Phases in Metal Gear Solid
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
**Learn how the enemy reacts!**

They may get very paranoid, which is good for your team, but more likely for your death
Engaging too many clones may result in too many turning around at once!

Understand what you can get away with.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
General Approach
I roll right past the clone position in phase 1 Clone Ship.
A few clones may turn around to shoot at or follow me...

Possible outcomes

1. IF they follow me, that's less pressure on the Separatist front.
Distraction
2. IF they ignore me, I kill them when they aren't paying attention.
Flanking

The enemy reaction will affect how you should approach each situation, but both outcomes are beneficial.

Gage the reactions of the enemy team. Know how to exploit these distractions and ambushes as often as possible.

TL;DR
-Get behind enemy
-Harass enemy
-Waste their time
-Sneak some kills
3c. Summary
Playing Droideka effectively involves doing a little bit of both general tactics.

Sometimes, you can kill 3 clones from behind to stop their spawning.

Sometimes, spamming a chokepoint and looking scary is helpful.

Ultimately, it comes down to you personally deciding which way you want to help your team.

Just remember! TANK, FLANK and SPANK!
4. ENEMY ENCOUNTERS
On your own, you can win many 1v1s if the enemy is caught out of cover at close range.

General Guidelines
-Don't engage without a shield
-Be weary of enemies who have cover or vertical angles
-Be aware of your surroundings and the number of enemies

Every scenario and enemy is different.
This section will give brief, specific tactics for enemies you engage.
4a. Assault

Assaults will generally get mopped up by you at close range.

The most dangerous aspect of Assaults is their Vanguard.

If they can get a clear shot, the Vanguard Shotgun can kill you in 2 hits while in Combat Form. Ouch.
Try to kill them before they get close.
4b. Heavy

Heavies have some of the best weapons for stripping your shields.

Their primaries can take off most of it, especially with ION weapons.
Their rotary cannons (sentry) can absolutely shred shields.

Most of the time you will kill heavies in your effective range.
Either CAUTIOUSLY, or DON'T engage long range Sentry Heavies. You can't out-damage them.

Usually you should do something else and let them get killed by snipers if they are too far to engage.
4c. Officer

You will brutalize officers at close range. They are probably the weakest enemy you can 1v1.

The one big thing to keep in mind is that Officers are usually around other soldiers.

They also have access to a Star Card that overheats your weapons. In those cases, it may be better to retreat.
4d. Specialist

They are extremely hard to kill at long range and chunk your health, though you do take a lot of ammo to kill.

Try to find them in close range, and it will most likely go the same as Officer encounters.

Careful though, they have a card that can give them nasty melee damage.

If ever stuck in the shock grenade in rollie form, press your jump button to gain some instant speed and jump out.
4e. Wookies

Wookies are chunky apes that are hard to miss shots on; perfect for your deadly weapons.

You can usually win at close range fights, but they can still pack a punch if they get the jump on you.
They have better ranged damage than you do.

Also, mind their nuclear grenade.
4f. Clone Commandos

Clone Commandos cause a lot of problems for you.

They are very tanky, they hit hard, and they can instantly shut off your shield.

If they get up close and inside your shield, they can trade very hard and kill you with their health regen ability, plus damage reduction. Usually a close fight.

Try to engage 1 of them at a time, no more, and get the jump on them.

If they manage to find cover, it may be best to retreat.
4g. ARC Troopers

ARC Troopers are like Clone Commando Lite in this game.

They have high damage, and explosive shots that can melt shields quickly.

They aren't nearly as oppressive as Commandos, but should still be engaged with caution. They have decent health pools.

A number seem to be super aggressive, and may just run into your kill zones willingly.
4h. Aerial Clones

Jetpack Clones are about as aggressive as the ARC Troopers, maybe even more.

Usually they will harass you from vertical angles that are hard to reach, and follow you around.

Try not to play into their strengths.
Re-position if you can't get a clean shot.

Try to lure them into an ambush.

Their health pool isn't too high, and you can kill them quickly if they bum rush you.

They are spastic, be ready to track them hard.
4i. Jedi Heroes

The glow stick nerds should never be engaged if they focus you, unless you wanna die.

Try to engage them with your own Heroes and team.

Try to pressure them at a distance by unloading as much damage as possible into them and their blocking.

If they close the distance, as soon as you can, enter wheel form and jump. It can throw them off and help avoid the Stunning Effect of Light Sabers. You are fast enough to have a good chance of escape.

Make those glow stick nerds work for the kill.

If they are Low HP, there is always a chance you can finish them in a 1v1, but be very careful. Once you commit, only 1 of you is walking away.

Watch out for Kenobi in particular. He has a move that keeps you from entering wheel form and escaping.
4j. TX-130 Saber Tank

There are two things to do with this tank.

1. Never engage when it is aiming at you.
It does way too much damage.

2. Flank it and overload rounds into the back.
If you can catch one off guard, you have a chance of fatally wounding it or killing it outright.
4k. AT-RT

The AT-RT is kind of like facing another Droideka.
You are both are very tanky and have good damage.
It seems to be about who fires first, though at longer ranges, AT-RTs win.

If you can target the driver first, you'll win.

Just make sure you are shooting at the driver.
4l. BARC Speeder

It sucks, just shoot it lol.

For the most part that is accurate, but look out for their rapid fire attack.
You'll rarely see these. They are kind of extinct.
5. Conclusion
Droideka is a really unique and fun class to play. I've loved every second of it.
I hope this guide helps and inspires some of you, or at least gives some interesting information for Battlefront 2.

But if you think it sucked, tell me your thoughts on that too!

Now get out there. Mow Down some clones. Be the monster.

Be the Droideka.

Good luck and have fun out there Clankers! (and Clones!)
