Arma 3 - Adapt Campaign - Side Mission - Mysterious Cache
Von Itchypantz
This is an addendum to another Guide. I don't want to steal any thunder, I just want to finish the collection. [FR]✖FΛDΣD Made an excellent Guide. He has outlined all the other missions very carefully. I am hoping this guide helps Faded's guide.

Please see [FR]✖FΛDΣD's guide here:

This guide covers ONLY ONE MISSION: Mysterious Cache

Getting There
You will probably want to get there using a truck of some sort. It is better to be able to go across country rather than being bound to roads. The delivery truck that is supplied is a good choice for this mission, as there is lots of loot to haul home afterwards.
The Naval Outpost on the Penninsula
I chose to begin by driving down the penninsula to see about the closest point of land to the island. As you near the end of the penninsula, you will notice a closed gate, guardhouse, and armed guards.

Dispatch wtih them easily. Silenced or thermal weapons work pretty good for this.

As you move up, you will see a giant tower overwatch. Don't worry. It's empty and completely walled off. It is inaccessable. However, there are several infantry units around a little naval outpost here. It is very well organized, however with a little stealth you will secure this location easily.

You will find 2 armed assault boats here and a Zamak.

The Assault Boats are useful for crossing the water quickly to the island and back. The Zamak may be useful to haul all of your goods home in.

There is also an ammo crate. It contains little that is useful. Some rounds and some nades and thats about it.
The Diving Outpost to the West of the Island
I drove to the Naval outpost first, then I took an Assault Boat to this place to see what was here.

When you arrive here, you will meet a small resistance force. You should easily dispatch them. They are guarding an ammo crate, a Submarine, and a RIB boat.

The ammo crate contains Rebreathers and a couple of SDARs with ammo. There are divers among the resistance force, but you cannot take their diving suits. As there are no diving suits in the crate (at least not when I used it), the SDARs are useless. (I have never been able to raise my gun underwater unless I was wearing a suit) You might like to use the rebreather, as the location marked with divers in the straight is also the location of an excellent wreck on the sea floor. Be careful, though! The enemy divers have weapons that work!

The vehicles that are here are the sub and the RIB. The sub is very slow and provides mostly good sightseeing here. The RIB is of moderate speed and loud and not my favourite thing to drive, so I did not use these boats to finish the mission.
The Cache
I used my Attack Boat to cross the water quickly. The divers at the wreck (marked in the ocean by a buoy) were not my concern. I just flew past them. I parked my boat at a small dock that is located in the bay located at grid coordinate 134121. This is just southwest of 'The Stash'.

The cache is in the two storey building. If you have a mine detector with you, you found the building's defenses easily. If not, I hope you saved recently.

There is a tripwire on a doorway. You must step over it to access the cache, which is upstairs.

The good stuff here is 2 AA rocket launchers and 8 rockets. Do what you want to loot them. I actually did two runs with the Assault Boat to and from the Zamak so I could loot it all.
Going Home
Now that this mission is has been so easy for you, be careful getting your goods all the way home! You are a long way from base and Arma trucks break more easily than their real world counterparts!

Relax and Arma On!!

Okay, so for those encountering the bug where the crate containing the AA weaponry won't spawn in the building, simply go back to the base and end the patrol then start another one and return to the island.

For the tripwire mine on the east side door of the cache building, you can just shoot it to clear it. Just make sure you're standing about 50-75 meters away.

Everyone needs to create a macro on their keyboard for RUN TOGGLE. I have one for Arma and one for DayZ. For DayZ I even have one for RUN and one for SPRINT.

:-)

This seems much better planed then when I did it on foot, at night, and just swam across the ocean to get there. Took so long I had to put a weight on the W key.

what mission

REDDOG, this is a sidemission in the ADAPT single-person campaign.

During that campaign, you do not need to do any side missions, but if you do, this will be one of the last ones and one of the more complicated. I was using other guides to help me through, but this particular mission had not been mapped out by anyone yet, so I though I would add to the braintrust wtih this handy set of instructions.
