Cartcanoe
Heil og Sæl Valheimians!

Have you ever wanted to build a pier for your raft, karve or longship. But having trouble with building because of the water forcing you to swim?

Well, have I got a solution for you! I'd like to introduce you to a technique I have coined Cartcanoeing.
What is Cartcanoe you might ask? Well did you know that the cart floats? And did you know that standing on the cart keeps you at a sufficient height as to still be able to build? And DID YOU KNOW, that you can steer your newly acquired Cartcanoe?!

All you need to do is grab your cart. This thing right here

Reverse it into the water and jump on.
Steer it into position by gentle nudging the direction you want to go and you'll be building in no time!

Need to place some pesky pillars on the sea floor? No problem
(Sorry it's dark)

Have fun building!

Well, this will make creating my modern Viking port city far easier. Thank you very much for the solution! Remember folks: if it's stupid but it works - it's not stupid!

The wave, and thumbs up are wonderful. Thank you. Also for the good tip. I just wrestled with the problem yesterday, and gave up to wait for someone to offer this solution.

You can try building temporary support from the seafloor up and remove them once you've placed the foundation support in its intended location.
Alternatively add more support from land, like the incredibly OP (but costly) iron beams. You can also raise the ground beneath the pier so that you don't need as many supporting log pillars for each section. Less parts = more stability in this case. (You can also raise it to be flush with the pier, removing the need for supporting pillars entirely, but that just looks like shit in my opinion)

However, at some point (Unless using Iron beams afaik) you just can't build any longer piers, due to not reaching the sea floor to place any more foundation pillars. Once you get a fairly decent (borderline superfluous) length proper snapping also gets troublesome, haven't found a good workaround for that yet, so the solution here is to just eyeball it really.
