Overview

Total Achievements : 60

  • Offline Achievements: 56
  • Online Achievements: 4

Content breakdown :

  • Base Game: 44
  • (DLC) The Thrice Damned 1: Isle of the Dead: 5
  • (DLC) The Thrice Damned 2: The Sunken Kingdoml: 5
  • (DLC) The Thrice Damned 3: Great Pyramid of Bes: 6

Approximate amount of time to get 100% : 15-25 hours (depending on skill and number of players)
Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 2
Recommended number of players: 2-3 (but solo or full squad is perfectly fine as well, I will explain this below in the Progress Map section)

Difficulty related achievements: Yes. Extreme difficulty unlocks after finishing the story.
Number of missable achievements: None.
Broken achievements: None.

Notes on difficulty and DLCs
Extreme difficulty
- I would strongly recommend playing trough Extreme in online coop as players can revive themselves indefinitely which makes most of the game very forgiving.
- If you prefer solo you will be able to finish easier chapters alone and join online just for the tricky chapters as the Extreme playtrough doesn't need to be continuous and you can skip and return via chapter select.
- Boss fight at the end of the The Towering Temple is arguably the hardest fight of the game.

DLCs
The three chapters of The Thrice Damned storyline that are needed for getting all achievements are sold separately. The content is definitely not worth the money and I would recommend getting them on sale. When buying the DLCs, on sale or not, you have two options.
a) The cheaper way - get just the three campaign chapters
b) The slightly more expensive way - get the Season Pass (recommended, details below)

The Season Pass will obviously cost you bit more but besides The Thrice Damned it gives you all additional characters and weapons including what is arguably the best gun in the game - Gehri-Delgane S1. Additional characters and guns will make this game also little bit varied. Personally I would recommend playing trough the game once first (see Progress Map) and deciding if you want to invest in Season Pass before the second playtrough. At that point you will know best if this game is worth your hard-earned money and if you're okay with getting just the cheevos or you want to get some extra characters and weapons to make the Extreme playtrough bit easier and varied.
Solo/Coop Roadmaps
Should you play in coop or solo?
How fast and easy you get to 100% depends on number of players and your playstyle. Both playing solo and in coop has it's perks and will determine which achievements you will be probably missing before the final clean up after finishing the game twice. The game is designed to be played cooperatively but with ability to play it alone as well. This means all puzzles and whole game can be done solo (yet for 100% you will have to connect online for few multiplayer achievements). In addition to that loot is not shared for whatever reason, so this motivates players to rush the puzzles and chests alone. For that reason I would recommend getting a designated group of friends over public matchmaking. Playing it group of two or three players might be ideal. Full squad is fine as well, but get used to seeing empty chests in unlocked rooms that your friends opened while you were looking for ammo or shooting mobs which might result in need to grind up some achievements during the clean-up phase, but it's not a problem.

In this guide I will sometimes conclude solutions for both soloist and coop groups in cases where the unlock solutions may vary.

Coop Roadmap

1) First playtrough on any difficulty - go trough the game at your own pace, focus on having fun and try to find as many collectibles as you can but don't worry about them too much, you will have second chance to get them all, therefore I would recommend not using collectible guides until second playtrough. Also try not to waste much gold (ideally none) on the gun chests as you will need lot of gold for Master of the Armoury.

2) Second playtrough on Extreme - you will now have to finish all the levels again on Extreme difficulty. Use this playtrough to look for remaining collectibles you missed (check what's missing using Journal) during your first playtrough. Using Collectible Guide is highly recommended, see Collectibles & Unlockables section of this guide. Also communicate with your friends which gems you already found as there is an achievement for getting all of them and finding them is random. So it's best if you don't pick up gems you already have/had that your buddy might still need. Additionally, when approaching final boss - don't forget to finish her in the other way you did during the first playtrough (see achievements Smile, you Son of a B... and For King and Country for details.

3) The Thrice Damned DLC on any difficulty - play trough the three DLC chapters, aim to find all collectibles. If you played in larger group some of you probably still don't have all weapons and gems (runes) unlocked so don't shy away multiple playtroughs as you still have to grind some, but feel free to bring up collectible guide as you won't need multiple playthroughs of this the DLC chapters.

4) Horde Mode - one run should be enough, be sure to check the Horde Mode achievements section so you know what you will need to do. You won't get any gold from Horde Mode therefore there's no benefit of playing the Horde Mode more than you need to (albeit you can find gems there).

5) Clean-up of remaining miscellaneous achievements - since you were playing in group you should have all coop achievements naturally. If not, refer to this guide to get what was missed.

Solo Roadmap

1) First playtrough on any difficulty - go trough the game at your own pace, focus on having fun and try to find as many collectibles as you can but don't worry about them too much, you will have second chance to get them all, therefore I would recommend not using collectible guides until second playtrough. Also try not to waste much gold (ideally none) on the gun chests as you will need lot of gold for Master of the Armoury.

2) Second playtrough on Extreme - you will now have to finish all the levels again on Extreme difficulty. Use this playtrough to look for remaining collectibles you missed during your first playtrough (using Collectible Guide is highly recommended, see Collectibles section of this guide). Additionally, when approaching final boss - don't forget to finish her in the other way you did during the first playtrough (see achievements Smile, you Son of a B... and For King and Country for details.

The game is fairly easy even on Extreme but some boss fights (especially Stone Guardian in The Towering Temple) can be tricky and very hard. In case you are failing a lot I would recommend switching to online for the chapters you are struggling with as playing with other players can make the game much easier.

3) The Thrice Damned DLC on any difficulty - since there are no achievements for multiple playtroughs you can use collectible guide to reduce the playtime by avoiding multiple playtroughs of the DLC chapters, especially if you already unlocked all weapons and gems (runes).

4) Horde Mode - one run should be enough, be sure to check the Horde Mode achievements section so you know what you will need to do. You won't get any gold from Horde Mode therefore there's no benefit of playing the Horde Mode more than you need to (albeit you can find gems there).

5) Clean-up of remaining miscellaneous achievements and joining online for few coop ones - check the section 'Multiplayer' to see what achievements require you to play online.
Story Achievements (Unmissable)
Achievements in this category are tied to you progression in the story and therefore unmissable as long as you aim to finish the story. Simply go trough all the levels and upon beating the game you should have all following achievements unlocked.

Wonderful Things
Open the Sarcophagus Room in Harbin's Dig Site

Unlocked during the first mission - Harbin's Dig Site.

Save Our Souls
Destroy a Soul Cage

Unlocked during the second mission - Hidden Valley.

Bully For You!
Defeat The Champion in Hidden Valley.

Unlocked during the second mission - Hidden Valley.

The Mote out of thine eye
Complete the Beam Puzzle in Tunnels of Wadjet

Unlocked during the third mission - Tunnels of Wadjet.

Get down, Shep!
Defeat the Guardian in The Towering Temple.

Unlocked during the fourth mission - The Towering Temple.

Hammer of the Gods
Kill the Hammer Champion in Cursed Village

Unlocked during the fifth mission 'Cursed Village'.

Eye say!
Activate the Death Ray in the Great Pyramid level

Unlocked during the eight mission 'Great Pyramid'.
Chapter and difficulty-based achievements
Achievements in this sections are tied to a certain level and in difference to the Story achievements they can be missed initially. However you can always use stage select to clean them up. Also there are two ways to kill the last boss and each will give you one achievement (Smile, you Son of a B... and For King and Country) so you will need to play the last chapter twice, however if you're going for all achievements you will need to play every chapter again on Extreme difficulty so before finishing Seteki on Extreme, note which of the two achievements you have unlocked on your first playtrough and make sure to get the second achievement while playing for the second time on Extreme, otherwise you will have to replay the whole last chapter at least three times.

Dangers Untold
Solve the Maze and open the door in Cutthroat Caverns

Can be unlocked in the sixth stage - Cutthroat Caverns. After shooting the 5th cat in the level you will cross a bridge and there will be a big hard to miss door with two statues and two blue flamed torches on each side. Interact with the torches and you will open door to the maze. Navigate trough this maze to the end where you climb up stairs to the platform with gold and chests. On the left there is a torch which opens a door nearby. After pulling the torch you will get this achievement.

A secret door to another world?
Open the Hidden Relic Room in Forsaken City

Can be unlocked during the seventh stage - Forsaken City. Nearing the end of the level you will enter a markeplace section. Looking inside one of the shops you can see a blue orb which upon shooting will open up the shop for you. Go inside and step on a pressure plate. This will bring up another three orbs - shoot them while standing on the plate. This will open secret passageway opposite to the shop. Enter and complete puzzle inside the hidden relic room to unlock this achievement.

If you have trouble finding the shop, the orbs or beating the room itself, you can use this video guide:

Definition of courage
Complete the game on Extreme difficulty

Self explanatory. Beat the game on Extreme difficulty which unlocks after you beat the game first time. You don't have to finish all the levels consecutively and you can skip levels if needed (you can track which levels you finished on which difficulty in the chapter select map) and you don't have to beat the DLC levels for this. The difficulty is not really hard, especially if you are playing in co-op.

Apparently there's an exploit (I myself didn't try this) that enables you go trough the whole level on easy and then going back to lobby before the end and reloading the last checkpoint on Extreme. While few people confirmed this to be working, these last checkpoints of some levels are the only hard parts of the game (particularly boss fights). So if you are having trouble with Extreme this probably won't help you much anyways as simply playing on Extreme all the way trough will just make you better, so I wouldn't recommend this way as it might become even more frustrating than playing through normally (which itself is not frustrating at all, probably except Stone Guardian boss battle at the end of Towering Temple, which is arguably the hardest fight of the game).

Smile, you Son of a B…
Shoot Seteki from Ammit's Jaws

During the final level - Afterlife - you will face Seteki, the boss of the game. At the very end after you beat her a cutscene will play in which Seteki will land in the jaws of the giant alligator (Ammit). If you shoot her while in Ammit's mouth, you will unlock this achievement. Or you can not shoot her, wait few seconds and unlock...

For King and Country
Banish Ammit and defeat Seteki without delivering the Coup de Grace

Don't shoot the Seteki during the cutscene after beating her and let Ammit do the job.
Endurance Achievements
Achievements of this category are all unmissable and most of them should pop-up eventually. Depending on your playstyle some might remain still locked even after both playthroughs in which case you can refer to this guide on how to get them fast. You can track most of your stats in the main menu.

7 league boots
Travel for a little over 24 miles

This should pop-up naturally near the end of first or start of the second playtrough, depending on how exploratory is your playstyle. You can track progress in statistics found in the main menu.

Hydra's Teeth
Kill 100 skeletons

Virtually unmissable. There will be enough skeletons for this achievement to unlock early in first playtrough.

Not Out
Kill 501 enemies

Again, practically unmissable. One playtrough should fetch over 1000 kills.

Queensberry Rules, ok?
Flatten 100 enemies with a melee attack

For this achievement you have to melee enemies when they are on the ground in order to finish them. You can get smaller enemies to fall by melee or by impact of explosives.

Minted
Collect 10000 Gold from Chests

Chests with gold are part of every level so this is another one that will pop in just few hours of game time. I got over 300k in the two playtroughs so this definitely shouldn't be a trouble no matter what.

What have you got against pottery?
Destroy 100 pots

Pots are destructibles placed heavily in each level so you should get this just from the collateral damage of the havoc you'll wreak in each stage.

The Pharoah's Curse
Die 50 times

Probably only achievement you will have to grind during the clean-up phase. You can grind this on quickly with a friend on extreme difficulty near a respawn sarcophagus. Quickest way solo is in Horde Mode - Caverns level, where you can die quickly by running of a cliff at the start of the level.

The trick is not minding that it hurts
Spend a total of 20 minutes at the low health level

This is cumulative. Progress is gained when all your blue health was depleted and your HP is in the red. You should get this naturally while playing but if not, you can go to any stage to let yourself damaged enough, then killing last enemy and waiting for the remaining time to get the achievement.
Skill-based Achievements
Nobody Likes a Show-Off
Chain 3 Amulet Attacks in a row

Can be done solo, but definitely easier with friends. For this achievement you need to activate Amulet Attack three times in a row - this means no attacks or deaths between the uses.
If you are struggling with this achievement or you didn't get it naturally while playing, you can lower difficulty and try in Horde mode or part of some stage with huge enemy spawn (boss battle). First fill your amulet by any means but don't use it. Then try to kill many enemies in one area, enough to fill the amulet twice more and then you have to activate the Amulet Attack three times without attacking or dying inbetween. It helps to have a power that kills a lot of additional enemies, like Set's Cruel Pleasures (Archimedes, Hachiro, Anjali) or teammates that will kill additional enemies for you without gathering the souls for Amulet.

For Medicinal Purposes
Drink 6 health potions within a level without dying or restarting

If you don't get this naturally while playing on Extreme you can repeat any stage, get yourself damaged every time you find a potion and drink it immediately. Do this six times without dying or restarting and achievements is yours.

Capital shot!
Kill 3 enemies with a single shot

You will probably do this naturally without trying. In case of trouble you can lower the difficulty to make enemies weaker and try either replaying stage or Horde mode. You can unlock this using any weapon, that means also weapons from chests, like Blunderbuss, which makes this achievement pretty easy.

These Are My Fighting Trousers
Melee kill 5 enemies in 30 seconds

Using melee you can drop weaker enemies to the ground them and then finish them by another melee strike. Shouldn't be any hustle to do this five times within 30 seconds. You can also ask your co-op partner to help and just knock enemies off to ground so you can finish them fast.

Stiff Upper Lip
Kill 20 enemies while on low health

For this achievement you need to get damaged enough so the blue part of your health bar disappears. While on red bar only kill any 20 enemies and you will unlock this achievement.
Collectibles and unlockables
In this section you will find all achievements related to collectibles and unlockables. First five achievements are related to classic collectibles which are located in each level and you can keep track of them via the Journal in the menu. You can find them during one of your playthroughs or collect them in each level using chapter select. There are many text, photo and video guides and I went probably trough all of them when I was going for collectibles. I can honestly say that following video guides are the most comprehensible and well done, I don't recommend using any other that this following playlist made by 360GameTV. Huge props to the author.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Savant
Solve every kind of puzzle door across the game

There is total of seven types of puzzles in the game and you have to solve each at least once to get this achievement. If you are going for all other collectibles you have to solve each of them eventually therefore you can use the above mentioned video guide for this one as well. In case you somehow missed some you can refer to following list to check which one you might be missing:

Puzzle Types
  • Symbol Order Door - you need to shoot symbols in correct order, the order is displayed on tiles somewhere nearby in the same area
  • Triangle Symbol Door - locate three symbols each hidden in the area and match them on the triangle of the door
  • Symbol Pressure Plates - walk on pressure plates in correct order
  • Shooting Orbs - shoot all orbs while standing on a pressure plate
  • Snake Pipe Puzzle - shoot tiles to rotate them in order to connect snake head with tail
  • Numerical Scarab Shooting - each orb has a scarab nearby, shoot each orb in order give by the number of scarabs from 1 to 6
  • Time Trial Puzzle - Start by shooting first orb and then find and shoot other two orbs before the time runs out
  • Energy Mirror - activate amulet near first crystal and line-up beams to reach final crystal
  • Tiled Image Puzzle - shoot tiles to complete the image of nine tiles

Master of the Armoury
Unlock all the weapons

You have to buy all available weapons in characters customization. This means all rifles, handguns and grenades. This needs a substantial amount of grind and if you played in coop there's a chance you will still have to grind some gold even after two full playthroughs. For this I recommend not buying any weapons from crates, shooting headshots (as they give extra gold) and looting all gold possible (preferably play solo for this). You can also play as Archimedes as his ability is to open extra room in each level which can fetch you extra 1000 here and there. It ain't much, but it's an honest work.

Master of the Mystical
Unlock/Find every kind of Amulet and Gem

This achievement can get tricky as it is partly dependent on RNG. Unlock Amulets won't be an issue as long as you are getting all collectibles, as for collecting relics you will get tokens to unlock Amulets. Getting all relics will enable you to unlock all Amulets over all characters (DLC characters don't have extra amulets and they are sharing amulets with base characters). Getting gems however might get tricky as gems are randomly generated as loot throughout the game and you might play trough the game multiple times and still not have all of them.

TIPS:
1. In COOP, if you are playing with group of friends you can keep track of gems you already have and not loot the one you don't need and instead call out the gems to your friends (as you can see which gem was dropped before you take it). This way you will prevent robbing each other and looting a gem you didn't need but your coop buddy might and vice versa.

2. While SOLO If you are still missing gems after you did all other achievements, fastest way to farm them is by replaying the very first chapter of the game where you have a chance for gem every 30s or so. At the beginning of the level run down until you reach the bridge. On your left, next to the bridge, will be a flammable pot that will burn the foliage and uncover a chest which can drop a gem. If you don't drop a gem or drop a gem you already had, simply restart from checkpoint and start again. In case you drop a gem you were missing you will have to continue forward (about a minute or so) until you trigger another checkpoint which will save your new gem to the collection. Rinse & repeat until you have all gems.
Horde Mode
Horde mode is pretty straightforward as you would imagine and all three achievements exclusive to this mode can be done within one game of Horde mode, solo or coop.

Evasive Action
Get to Horde Wave 4 without taking any damage

Self-explanatory, simply don't receive any damage within the first three waves of Horde mode. Definitely bit harder solo as all enemy focus is on you but shouldn't take more than few tries.

Pay the Piper
Open a Gold Door in Horde

Gold Doors are located in all of the Horde mode maps. Simply earn the cash needed for the unlock and the achievement will pop-up immediately as you open them.

Back From the Mouth of Hell
Complete the First Round in Horde

To get this achievement you have to simply survive trough 15 waves and kill the boss in last wave. Shouldn't be that hard but in case you're struggling it's recommended to do this online as coop partners can revive each other making this challenge pretty easy.

Multiplayer
All four achievements in this sections are the only ones that cannot be done solo and require online play.

Everybody needs a hobby
Rescue a teammate from a sarcophagus 10 times

When your teammate dies they will respawn in a nearest sacrophagus. Release them 10 times and the achievement is yours.

I'm stuck with a valuable friend
Collect double the Gold of each of your teammates

This will be done easiest if you are playing with a friend as you can agree on one player opening all chests, otherwise you will have to aim to be the one who opens most chests, collects piles of gold and kill most enemies. The counted gold is not total value but the one that player holds at the end so your teammates can reduce their gold amount by buying guns throughout the level.

If you already went trough the campaign without unlocking this one you can also do it easily in the Horde Mode. Let your coop partner kill one enemy and die, then go ahead and kill enough enemies so that you will have double the amount of gold earned and die subsequently. Achievement should unlock when the post-game screen appears.

Now That's Just Not Cricket
Kill a teammate with any kind of trap

There are plenty of traps (spike traps, spinning blades, flame traps etc.) in both story levels and Horde mode as well. Trap has always an orb nearby which you can shot to activate. Wait until your partner on the trap and activate it to get this achievement
Miscellaneous
This Is Becoming A Little Awkward
Exit a Sarcophagus 5 times without restarting

If playing Solo, you'll always need to have a potion equipped in order to revive yourself. Be on the lookout for potions and kill yourself (by any means - trap, grenade, enemies) whenever you find a new one. Do this five times in a row without restarting and Bob's your uncle. Since you don't revive with full health I recommend doing this on easy so you don't risk being killed before obtaining another potion.

In Co-op this is much easier and straight-forward, simply kill yourself five times and let your buddies revive you each time.

There's no 'I' in Team…but there is a 'me'
Complete a level with each of the first four Brigade members

Self-explanatory. Simply play trough a whole stage from start to finish using one of the base four Brigadiers (Gracie Braithwaite, Nalangu Rushida, Archimedes de Quincey and Frank Fairburne) at least once.

One Simply Doesn't Rush These Things
Annoy the Narrator

You can unlock this achievement by idling anywhere in any level of the game. Simply don't touch controls for few minutes and narrator will go trough a fit in which he'll quit narrating the game. The achievement doesn't unlock until you regain control of the character so make sure to wait until the narrator gives up and then resume playing (shouldn't take more than 4-5 minutes).

Snap Decision
Enter photo mode

Photo mode was added to the game with a patch so no DLC is needed. Simply anywhere in the level press ESC to bring up the menu and select "Photo mode".

Portrait of an adventurer
Unhide the player and hide UI in a picture. Point camera at the player

In the Photo mode point camera at yourself so the character is in the focus. Using the Photo mode controls hide the UI and then hide and unhide the character and the achievement should unlock.
The Thrice Damned DLC achievements
The three additional chapters released each as a DLC together contain 16 additional achievements. By beating the DLC chapters you will unlock four unmissable achievements. The rest of the achievement is related to collectibles where each chapter has four achievements for collecting diaries, canopic jars, lost figurines and a cat idol. Once again there's a very well done video guide by 360GameTV provided for each chapter, see below.

"I'm stuck with a valuable friend" achievement work only in campaign mode?
