This is a smol, practical and moderately detailed Sea Dragon rocket with 8m diameter fairing and 150t to LKO payload capacity. It has been in my VAB since the Jamestown base, now I’m finally happy with how it turns out.

Refer to the infographic for details.

Pure stock, no mods, no DLCs. 134 parts (rocket itself 90 parts), root part is the 3.75m payload separator.

Design Notes
- I'm not going to build a larger one or a 1:1 replica. Such a huge craft is beyond my (and my PC's) abilities.
- I probably would publish an underwater launch version, but that would be not as user-friendly as this one. It requires ~700t of ore as ballast, which would involve either craft file editing or ~50 large ore tanks. I don't enjoy building such a thing.
- I am aware of its iconic expansion nozzle design, but I have no good idea of a practical implementation.
- As a lovely coincidence, its engine burn times are close to the real thing (79s vs. 81s for the first stage, ~200s vs. 260s for the second stage, considering I shortened the second stage in favor of payload fairing volume). This makes me happy.
- You can adjust its fairing for your payload. The fairing base may be hard to find, so just right click on the fairing icon in the stage sequence to the right.
- First stage recovery is theoritically possible with enough aerobraking power and maybe some stage recovery mods, but I'm not going to try that.
- To justify it launching from land instead of sea: this is actually not a very large vehicle, and KSC has seen much larger things lifting off from that launch pad :p
- No, those "RCS blocks" sticking out of second stage do NOT exist. Upon close inspection of the original drawings, it’s clear that those are markers (A,B,C,D with arrow) for cross section view. Some illustrators misinterpreted them. But I have to admit they look pretty stylish.

Wish you enjoy and happy ruling the world!

It's absolutely great! but i'm just sitting here wondering how does the launch pad and everything around it not evaporate at liftoff? LOL

That's why I say "less enjoyable", I leave this as a user challenge, I don't enjoy it.

it doesn't you just need to find a way to bring it out to sea

That said, I still probably would make a sea launch version and shoot a video. Less enjoyable and probably require mods/cheat to work though.

Thanks, do that if you want, I only want to enjoy the look instead of lagging my computer and summoning Kraken.

nice but the sea dragon is called the sea dragon because it was ment to be launched in the sea
