Carley floats are a life saving device that could appear on your boat or ship's exterior. Remember you own ship should have ways to survive if it sinks.

The short version is that these are a damage resistant life saving float. Its not a boat but a float. Like a life ring people are partially in the water. This stops them from drowning though they are still vulnerable to hypothermia or predators.

The carley float here could have two inside the ring, one on each short end, two or three on each long end plus if desperate others holding onto rope lines.

Carley floats are made with large diameter copper tubes with ends welded together. They are covered in cork or other soft material so casualties don't hit hard metal. If any one tube gets damaged, such as by enemy fire onto warships, the other tube sections are intact. Even a small float like the one here can have upwards of six people sitting or holding on to await rescue.

In the depiction here the white piping represents a paddle, which in uncommon for them, and the orange box represents survival stores. It is also suitable to put the game's first aid kit in the inner ring.

If you were to paint the wall the gap is over this could then be thought of as a raft with a plastic sheet bottom.
