Darick Skarr's Level Overhaul

Description
This mod changes the way you level in Skyrim. Skills still advance at the same pace as before but leveling a skill gives you half the character experience as before. For example, a level 20 character will be able to achieve roughly the same amount of skill advancements as a level 40 might have achieved.

The reason I created this mod was to address a problem I had with the current leveling system in Skyrim as best I could. Previously if you concentrated on maxing out blacksmithing for instance, without leveling your combat skills, you would go out into the world severly underpowered. To address this, it now takes twice as many skill advancements for your character to level. Advancing blacksmithing or alchemy will be less detrimental to your character while adventuring in the world now.

I would have liked to have left the combat skills alone and just taken away the experience gained from advancing skills like, blacksmithing, alchemy, and enchanting but without using a script extender there doesn't seem to be a way to do this in the creation kit. While this is not the best solution it does allow you to experience the lower levels of the game more before rushing into all the maxed out level npcs of the game.

This mod was made primarily for myself but I hope some of you enjoy it too!

Bruh... 2 questions... --1: can you make, or is this, compatible with mods that increase the rate your skills level up?-- --2: if the answer to 1 is no, can you make a version of this where your skills go up faster, but your regular level goes up far slower?--

I ask these questions because i dont like taking 5 years to increase some skills, but i dont want to be level 150 in 2 hours of game play... i would prefer to be able to get max level perks in like... 2-3 perk trees, and then the game not already have to scale all NPC enemies to level 81+

Thank you, for modding after the pay system nearly killed it off altogether. Good to know on the leveling. I'm just about to level 30 and will experiment with not turning the mod off.

If you take the mod off during gameplay, your character stays exactly the same. If you keep it off after that you begin advancing levels at the normal rate. For example. If you level a character to 20 with the mod activated, that character will have the same amount of skills as a vanilla level 40 character. If you take the mod off at level 20 and level to 30 without it, your character will have the same amount of skills as a vanilla level 50 character. So if you like, you could turn this mod on and off to create your own pace if you really wanted.

Also thanks for the support guys. Sorry I haven't expanded on the idea since I released it. Modding has taken a back seat this last year

This mod is great! You seriously get to enjoy the leveling process. Perks mean a lot more too.

This has helped make my game very fun, and immersive. I am using mods that change all mobs to level with you, so I crank the difficulty to Master & Legendary and the game presents an actual challenge. I am also using "Live a New Life," which I can't recommend enough. My lowly thief can be set on the path to becomming a hero before he's level 20.

Only concern is- leveling at higher levels. It might take super long and I don't know what will happen if I turn the mod off; but my guess is bad stats and perk probelms will happen, or super acceleration of levels. It should be fine though with the DLC feature to make skills legendary and regain XP from them all over again. Thanks for the immersive mod! :KneelingBow:

This looks old but I'm going to give it a shot. If my logic is correct, leveling a variety of skills is what will help gain levels. I'm trying this out because I really want to get to know my gear- get some use out of it. It seems like I start a game and within 8 hours I'm making Dragonbone items for my level 40 toon. :OhNoBlue: I hope this helps.

This is great but I would like to level when I complete quests or kill creatures

I think it's fine as it is... something that bothers me is the 'Powers' in the game though. ONLY ONCE PER DAY! Yeah but I can just wait 24 hours and it's ready again. What is the POINT of only once per day then? It's redundant..

It works for me but If you come across anything closer to the real goal hit me up.

I don't know man, this seems like the wrong approach to be frank.
