This guide is no longer being updated due to OFDP 2.

Update July 22nd, 2019: Long overdue update. I (Bluesub) am no longer updating the guide anymore due to OFDP 2 having been out for some time. It's a good game I think, it really does trump the first game in nearly every possible way aside from a nitpick I have with the speed and brawlers. Anyways, it's been a good run, and was a learning experience for me. Thank you!

Update 24/01/2015: Please keep commenting on what to add/modify on this guide if you want to, I'd be glad to change the guide as long as it's correct.

By the way, this guide can now be considered a community guide, some sentences in it are copy/pasted or modified from comments here. Who says what is credited in the Credits section. Thanks to everyone who contributed and will contribute. As long as I'm alive the guide will change if you are willing to help.

The Two Modes
On "Level" mode you must beat a stage to proceed to the next one. You get medals for missing less than 10 times and you can get a Perfect for not getting hit once in a round. The map is big and it contains multiple Skills to unlock, if you're not using a gamepad you can use the arrow keys to move about freely around the map. To unlock a Skill you must beat the stage marked by the skill icon.

Medals:
  • Missed 0 times = Platinum
  • Missed 1-3 times = Gold
  • Missed 4-6 times = Silver
  • Missed 7-9 times = Bronze
  • Missed 10+ times = No Medal

You can also "Perfect" any level on the map by not getting hit once, marked by an orange ring around your medal with orbiting text that says "Perfect". Using "Deflect Colour/Grey" skill counts as getting hit if it activates, despite not losing health.

This mode comes in three difficulties, Student, Master and Grandmaster. You must beat the final stage on the first difficulty to unlock the second difficulty, and same thing for the second to unlock the third.

On "Survival" mode, you can use the skills you unlocked in Level mode. Also if you want to be in the leaderboards you better get those 7000 kills. Good luck.
Skills
Finally, at long last I bring you, the Skills from One Finger Death Punch! *Applause n' stuff*

Weapon Rain: Two weapons fall from the sky at a random location in the battlefield. Activates after 35 kills.

Club Master: Allows you to use a Club for 3 times as long. Activates after 1 kill.

Sword Master: Allows you to use a Sword for 3 times as long. Activates after 1 kill.

Staff Master: Allows you to use a Staff for 3 times as long. Activates after 1 kill.

Three Arrows: Every bow comes with two additional Arrows. Activates after 1 kill.

Three Daggers: Every Dagger comes with two additional Daggers. Activates after 1 kill.

Three Bombs: Every Bomb comes wth two additional Bombs. Activates after 1 kill.

Light Em' Up: Lights up enemies, significantly increasing your attack range, more so than any other weapon and the Unarmed Master skill except for Throwing weapons. Activates after 32 kills.

Unarmed Master: Increases your attack range as if you were holding a weapon. You will not be able to pick up weapons while it is active. Activates after 26 kills.

Slow Enemies: As the title suggests, it slows your enemies by 25% for 10 seconds. Activates after 30 kills.

Brawl Master: Decreases the speed of your next Brawl by 25%. Activates after 1 kill.

Freezing Point: Your next attack will freeze all enemies on one side. You can tell the Skill is ready by the blue glow around your character. Does not synergize well with Slow Assault. Activates after 27 kills.

Deep Impact: Your next attack will wipe the entire screen of enemies, in my opinion better than Freezing Point. Does not synergize well with Slow Assault. Activates after 37 kills.

Heal: Automatically heals one HP. If at full health when the skill activates it will be stored for later. Activates after 99 kills.

Deflect Grey: Deflects one hit from any Gray enemy. Activates after 85 kills.

Deflect Colour: Deflects one hit from any Coloured enemy. Activates after 70 kills.

Throw Weapon: Throw the next Staff, Sword or Club you pick up. Activates after 18 kills.

Iron Fist: Causes all enemies to back off in fear to give you more breathing room. Activates after 32 kills.

Venom Fist: Causes colored enemies to react slower when you hit them. Activates after 40 kills.

Grey Out: Causes all enemies to turn into Gray enemies for 10 seconds. Activates after 30 kills.

Slow Assault: Slows down the enemy assault for 10 seconds. Activates after 32 kills.
Game Modes
The modes you can find in Level mode and a couple in survival.

Map

Mob Round: Classic mode, destroy your enemies using perks and all.

Speed Round: Race against the clock and kill all enemies before time runs out.

Smash Round: The name of the game is to smash background objects with the poor fools you kill. Keep going until you destroyed enough objects.

Retro Film Round: A retro film filter is applied, you can't see the color of your enemies, plus it has its own soundtrack!

Thunderstorm Round: Fight your enemies in the dark blueness of a thunderstorm, but you will have a harder time spotting weapons, so be careful. Brawlers do not appear here.

Multi Round: A stage that consists of multiple rounds with fewer enemies than usual that speed up as you progress through the rounds.
There are 4 rounds in Student difficulty, 5 in Master and 6 in Grandmaster.

Survival Round: Similar to the Survival game mode except there will be no bonus rounds to heal up. You will be able to earn Mastery Points, however.

Boss Round: Boss fights that can have 1 or 2 enemies at once. When you complete a color pattern (i.e Blue enemy pattern), they will swap to a different color.

Light Sword Round: The round that makes you feel like a badass. All enemies are one hit and start out slow, but gradually get faster as you kill more of them. The final enemy is a Brawler.

Nunchaku Round: The round that makes you feel like Bruce Lee. It functions the same as the Light Sword Round.

Defender Round: Armed with a sword, you must defend yourself against an onslaught of knives being thrown at you.

Dagger Round: You can only throw one dagger at a time towards your enemies to kill them. Choose your targets wisely (preferably the closest one) so you don't get overwhelmed.

Bomb Round: Functions the same as Dagger Round but with bombs.

Survival

Survival: Classic survival, the fighting style you use is random. Enemies start very slow and get faster as you last longer.
Leaderboards.
And Pants.

Blind Survival: In Blind Survival, you cannot see the zones beneath your character and you will not be able to see the pattern of coloured enemies.

No Luca No: In No Luca No, a cat named Luca will appear to cover half of your screen while fighting, move your mouse left or right to push Luca away. With a gamepad push your left analog stick left or right to move Luca.

Information concerning game modes:
While Mob round, Retro Film, Thunderstorm, Multi-Round, and all Survival modes allow you to use skills, all the other modes do NOT let you use any skills.
Enemies
There are a few different people you have to kill:
Notice that all of them can be one-hitted

Gray Enemies: Your very first enemy you face. Only need one solid click to annihilate him.

Colored Enemies: From 2 to 4 HP those guys can be annoying. Just pay attention to their red/blue bars under them and don't miss, otherwise you will get hit. And on the later mob fights it's not easy to finish.
This list assumes that the direction they're coming from is left. L is Left, R is Right.
(Colored enemies are listed in no particular order and is probably finished. Leave a comment if I missed an enemy.)
  • Green: L L
  • Blue: L R
  • Red: L L L
  • Yellow: L L R
  • Orange: L R R
  • Purple: L R L
  • Light Green: L L L L
  • Pink: L L R R
  • Aqua: L L L R
  • Magenta: L R L L
  • Lime: L R R R
  • Tan: L L R L
  • Dark Green: L R L R
  • Dark Red: L R R L
  • Black: ? (Their pattern is random. He might only need one hit, or have a pattern from any coloured enemy. They only appear on Master/Grandmaster difficulty, and possibly on Survival.)

Brawlers: You can tell they are Brawlers by their crown on his head, it can be a 4 right-click fight or a 25 right/left click intense fight.

Boss: The hardest of them all, you find a boss (or two) in the Boss rounds. He/They change(s) colors or repeat the same color 1-3 times after the blue/red bars under him/them disappear.
Weapons
They all increase your range and enable nice animations. Some of them are melee weapons and some are the almighty one-shot Bow and arrow, one-hit daggers or one-boom bombs. All melee weapons are able to be thrown, by grabbing two of the same type, or with the Throw Weapon skill.

Melee Weapons
  • Staff
You toss it, and changes its direction each time it hits an enemy. It then gets stuck on the 3rd one it hits
  • Sword
It sweeps and tears through every enemy in its way.
Example: You toss it to the left, all enemies on the left die)
  • Club
When thrown, it arcs and moves around like a bouncing ball. Although players find it inconsistent, it's still very deadly when you master the timing of its delay. After killing 5 enemies, the chances of it killing another is nearly impossible.

Ranged Weapons
  • Bow and Arrow, the fastest projectile in its class.
  • Dagger, second fastest.
  • Bomb, the slowest.

The Ranged weapons have the same effect, and each have their own Skill that increases how many you can get from an enemy.

Special Weapons
  • Gray Enemy
  • Fish

  • Here's how I see the Gold sword... You're bleeding, people are starting to overwhelm you, BAM! You feel weaker and are ready to hit the ground...then the music kicks up, light shines down and you look up, you grasp the sword that drops from the heavens as the music goes, the only word to describe this moment... is divine retribution.

  • Broom

The Ball of Death
The Ball of Death is dropped by an enemy after he dies and the ball will bounce about the screen if not used, then it will go in one direction and disappear off-screen after a while. Killing 4 enemies will make the ball go off-screen as soon as possible, which is useful information if you're going for Platinum Medals and don't want the ball in the way.

In-game "events"
Besides the skills procs there's non-skills procs, too. I have no idea how it's done but I can tell you what they are:

Power Smash: Finish your opponent, make the time goes slower for a moment and you have a chance to be able to hit whoever is on your screen without missing (dash).

Impale: When you finish an enemy with your weapon, sometimes you will launch him airborne and throw your weapon on the ground, making the time go slower and the background go darker. And a very very cool thing happens after. You can get back your weapon. Just dash towards it.

Fury Mode: The background is white and you can dash all over the map to kill the spawned enemies. You one-shot them. Cooler with a sword. Infinity dash.

Power Dodge: Power Dodges are performed only by enemies, they are considered rare (according to the Protips), and they allow you to catch your breath for about a split-second which can save you if you're in a tight situation.

Events that are achieved with your Fists/Elbow/Leg:

Finish Him: Appearing randomly, the action halts to a standstill as your opponent is left stunned by your powerful attack, allowing you to finish him off with 5 more clicks.
Mechanics and Tips
DISCLAIMER: This section is under construction, comments regarding mechanics and tips will be added here as long as they are correct. If you provide pictures on imgur, they will be added if you authorize it and (of course) if they are useful to this section.

  • If you have a weapon and you are about to pick up a new one of the same type (i.e you have a sword and pick up a sword), you will throw your current at the enemy.

  • Depending on the effect, the thrown weapon can bounce back and forth, impale multiple enemies (Spear), or do random things (Club).

  • Only white weapons thrown by enemies can be caught and thrown back at them.

  • If you kill an enemy with a weapon, you can pick it up while it is mid-air if there's a second enemy and the weapon is closer than he is. The weapon will faintly flash a red-ish color when you can catch it.

  • When you first start a fight with a brawler, you can both see and hear a "FIGHT" sound and it will indicate that the brawler is a intense fight brawler. If it does not, then its a short fight.

If you liked this Guide...
Give it a thumbs up! it might even motivate me to do more stuff with the guide, but of course it is your choice.

Also if you have a suggestion that you want me (Bleu) to add, don't hesitate to write down a comment! there is a chance I may do it, I feel that I need to do more stuff with the guide anyways.

Edit 12/11/15: The suggestions fall on me (Timber Sellick) now, please post suggestions and stuff in the comments. Well there's nobody playing this game anymore but who knows. By the way, I'm not gonna do much for this guide either, just the minimum to make you happy. Because nobody plays this game anymore.

Edit March 17, 2018: I (Bleu) am back at it.

One last thing: You can comment whatever you want as long as you follow the steam TOS; I'll answer unless it's retarded. Have a nice day whoever is reading this! You'll need it.

Note about Brawlers. When you first start a fight with a brawler, you can both see and hear a FIGHT sound and it will indicate that the brawler is a intense fight brawler. If it does not, then its a short fight. Hope this helps someone.

Well, I'm back. I'm sorry for abandoning this guide and leaving it incomplete. I never really had an end goal in mind when taking over this guide, and the thought of adding every, little, thing overwhelmed me, so I slowly got burnt out on it. I have no excuse for it, and I claim full responsibility.

Now with the announcement of OFDP 2 ( https://youtu.be/f5NGf_ncQiM ) and playing OFDP again, Vergil came to me in a dream. He slapped my face and told me to show him my motivation. So now I want to finish this guide before the second game comes out, and maybe make a guide for that too.

I do not wish to cover everything about OFDP, but I do want to provide basic information/useful tips. I have started by organizing the "Music in OFDP" section and putting it much closer to the top so you need not scroll through walls of text to find out.

Please feel free to leave tips of your own if you so desire, and I'll likely add them.

I love this game so much. The only thing I have been having trouble with though is I recently went to the start to attempt to get some platinums and perfect scores so I don't have to suffer the tutorial shit later on.

I would love to know what you must do for the game to consider your performance a perfect score. I don't know how the hell this is achieved. I mean, I can just keep playing it until I get one; Simple enough. But its a waste of my time and I'd rather know how to do it properly.

You up to the task?

P.S.
If your still in need of those FINISH HIM screenshots, I can get you them! Just lemme know ;)

About ranged weapons:

Each one has a different travel speed.

-Arrows land instantly
-Daggers travel faster than bombs
-Bombs travel slower than daggers
