Introduction
When learning to play CS:GO, most players begin by finding the right sensitivity for them. Most people find this through methods such as:
  • Finding a sensitivity that lets them turn 180 degrees
  • Finding a sensitivity through surfing
  • Copying a pro player's sensitivity
  • Using eDPI to find a comfortable sensitivity (eDPI = DPI x sensitivity
  • Or just finding one over time

Most people will opt for one of the following when finding a sensitivity, my method however takes other factors into account, like the area of your mouse-mat...
Your DPI and Mouse-mat
Your DPI

chances are, that you have a mouse which allows you to see/change your DPI (DPI is the number of steps the mouse will report when it moves one inch) if you don't then I heavily recommend that your buy a mouse with such capabilities, if you already know the dpi of your mouse then, for this method, you'll be fine. I recommend using a DPI such as 1000 as it makes calculations, when it comes to sensitivity, easier - and it's good for small mouse-mats.

Your mouse-mat

you most likely already have a mouse-mat, but maybe you don't. Having a mouse-mat for this method is VERY important as it is similar to the "use a sensitivity that lets you turn 180 degrees" method. This guide relies on you knowing the area of your mouse-mat (The size of it doesn't really matter!).

Calculations!

Finding the area of your mouse-mat

The formula requires the area of your mouse-mat, to find this, simply measure the length and width of your mouse-mat with a ruler (make sure your doing it in cm!) Area = length x Width.

calculating the sensitivity...

The "formula" to find the sensitivity is:

DPI / Area of mouse-mat = sensitivity

In my case, I got - 1000 / 546cm² = 1.831501
Changing your sensitivity
It is important you change it correctly in order for it to be precise as possible!

Because the formula spits out an awkward number (one with a lot of figures after the decimal place) it is best to change the sensitivity by modifying in config.cfg (csgo’s config file). This file is found in: common > Counter-strike global offensive > csgo > cfg > config.cfg

In the cfg file, your sensitivity is set as: sensitivity = “VALUE HERE”

We change the sensitivity in the config file as changing it in-game only allows for 2 significant figures after the decimal place.

You can also change your sensitivity in the console by entering: sensitivity VALUE HERE - then type host_writeconfig after entering the previous command, to change it in the config (AKA permanently till you want to change it).
In conclusion...
This method may not work for everyone (i.e. those who use desk-mats instead of mouse-mats, or people who don't use mouse-mats) as it calculates the best sensitivity for turning 180 degrees in-game with the specific SETUP used in the formula - this method essentially takes the guesswork out of "finding a sensitivity that lets you turn 180 degrees in-game".

This method has worked for me, and I hope it works for you!

wow I always manually tweaked my sensitivities with the end goal of 180 degrees in one swipe

this is a cool formula I'm gonna try this out the next time I need this done or if I have to help someone

I'd recommend changing your sensitivity via the developer console in cs:go, or by changing it in the config file.
