Who is the Kylo Ren ?

Kylo Ren is a fictional character and a major antagonist in the Star Wars franchise. Introduced in the 2015 film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, he is portrayed by Adam Driver. Kylo Ren is the chosen name of Ben Solo, the only child of original Star Wars trilogy characters Han Solo and Princess Leia Organa. Though trained by his uncle Luke Skywalker as a Jedi, he was seduced to the dark side of the Force by Supreme Leader Snoke, and aspires to be as powerful as his grandfather, the Sith Lord Darth Vader. Ren is eventually redeemed like his grandfather before him and helps Rey in her fight against her grandfather, the revived Emperor Palpatine.

Character

Kylo Ren was a Force sensitive male person who was the Master of the Knights of the Rhine and the Great Leader of the First Order in the New Republic era. Ben Solo, formerly the promising student of Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, was not a Jedi or Sith, but the product of both philosophies. Although he embraced the dark side of the Force with the teachings of his former Master Supreme Leader Snoke, his inclination towards the light side of the Force within him caused a conflict within himself. Despite this, Ren believed that his destiny was to rule the galaxy. Along with this, the legacy of the Jedi Order and the need to destroy the Sith and a new galactic rearrangement into the galaxy.

Kylo Ren's lightsaber

Ben Solo's Jedi lightsaber originally had a blue colored blade. Like all Jedi lightsabers, Solo's had a kyber crystal at its core as a power source, and contained a diatium power cell cradled within the grip as an additional power source. The blade was ignited using a sliding activation switch located near the top of the hilt.

Kylo Ren's crossguard lightsaber was modeled on weapons that were used in the Great Scourge of Malachor, an event that occurred millenia before the New Republic Era. Despite its ancient design, Ren's lightsaber contained modern components within it. The lightsaber was crudely assembled and its unstable condition was evidence of Ren's inexperience in constructing such a weapon.
