A Quick How-To Teaching You How To Rank Your Server High In the Alphabetically-Sorted Server List

When clicking on "Name" and sorting the Server List alphabetically, to rank near the top it's quite simple. It's done by creating a server name starting with a Unicode character or characters. This is on the modded list. Both "Name" and the Modded section of the Server List are underlined in blue. Sorry for the poorly drawn arrows throughout this guide. The red (and apparently blue? I don't like MSPaint or it doesn't like me, IDK) arrow points at my server in the server list. It's the RustTX.com server prefixed by four pointing fingers and a nuclear warning symbol.

Next you go to your game server service control panel. It in this case, I (obviously) use HFBServers where my server is hosted as the example. I don't know that all of the GSPs offer the ability to change the server.cfg file's text encoding type.

This is just a useful site I found for this, There are probably better sites for this out there. It is http://www.alt-codes.net/ -- You can just as easily copy the character you want from anywhere else. You don't have to produce it with an alt-code sequence on the numpad. You can, for some of the characters but not all of them I might mention as well. Any of the characters can be copied from the Windows Character Map, a file containing them, or a web site and pasted into your server.cfg to change the title. I don't know the exact length allowed for server names, but I think it's between 65 and 80 characters. Pick your name well, to be descriptive and to draw people in. I've had good results before using this trick by putting a "-" and a lot of space in my server name.

You can run the Windows Character Map from the MS Windows run dialog, accessed by going into the Windows Start Menu and either clicking the run dialog, or in more recent versions of Windows, just typing the name of what you want to run. In this case it's "charmap", without the quotes. It's also handy if you find yourself without a keyboard and must type something, or want to insert a special character in whatever text.

Once in the Windows Character Map tool, you'll choose the Font that you want, then use the slide on the right to navigate through the list of characters. You'll left-click once on a character to select it, then click "Select" the number of times that you want to output that character. After you have chosen and output the characters you chose, you'll then click copy and be able to paste that output into your server.cfg file.
