How to reach every secret I've found in achievement_apg_r16c, including the music room and Shrek rooms.

Introduction
This guide lists every secret I know of in Achievement_apg_r16c. I collected information from a couple of guides and my own exploration for this. Other versions of this map, including _r15 and _reborn, are very different and don't have these secrets.

First of all, I can't credit "SCP-6440" on Youtube enough. Most of my research was just converting his video into text form. His video can be found here. His video description says he wants to make an updated guide, but it links to a deleted Steam account.

For many secrets, you need to have the "use" action bound to a key. Open up the console with "~" and type:
bind "o" "+use"
You can replace "o" with whichever key you prefer.
When running this map on a server or offline, you need an additional command.

Music Room
This is probably the reason you're here in the first place. One of the many secret rooms in the map allows you to play music for the whole server to hear (whether they like it or not). You have to pass a small parkour course to reach it, however it's not as hard as most custom server parkour courses. You can get through on your first try if you know what you're doing.
The easiest way through is with Engineer and the Pistol and the Eureka Effect. Placing teleporter exits as you go along will save time if you take a wrong turn.

In the corner of the map just above the boxing room building, there is a secret door in the wall. Enter the door and go down the spiral passage. Above the door, there are three symbols. Shoot the diamond four times, the eight-pointed star eight times, and the triangle three times before walking through the hallway. If you did it right, the room will shake and a beeping noise will play. Stand directly in front of the chest in the next room, and shoot it.

Make a note of this room and its Illuminati symbol. Turn around and jump on top of the bookshelves, another invisible door is in the center of the wall above them. After you drop down, put down a teleporter, because the next section is easy to get wrong.

Starting from the bottom, follow the black line. Stepping off the path or taking a shortcut will teleport you instantly to the death room.

After the tiles is another maze. This one also kills you if you take a wrong turn. In the maze follow these instructions carefully:
  • Take the right path.
  • Take the left path.
  • Take the right path.
  • Take the second path on the right.
  • Take the first path on the right.
  • Take the second path on the left.
  • Take the only path on the right.

After the maze is the last section of the course, a long parkour course over lava. Destroy your previous teleporter if Engineer and place it down here, the course is difficult to get on the first try. The jumps are precise, but are the same every time with no traps. Touching the lava instantly kills you. At the end is a teleport to the music room. Place a teleporter here so your entire team can get in. Press use on the music buttons to choose a song. After a song plays, there is a cooldown period so the music can't be spammed. Pressing "random" has a chance of playing a secret song... but I'll leave that for you to discover yourself.

Disco Room
Every good TF2 custom map needs a disco room with outdated meme music playing and lots of flashing lights, and this is no exception.

In the library on the ground floor, next to the C area, shoot the Solemn Vow (the statue) on the bookshelf to open the door to the disco room. Do not enter the disco room if you are sensitive to flashing lights. Shoot the buttons to change the music (this does not affect the rest of the server)
Graffiti Room
Next to the disco room entrance is a hidden door to a room covered in graffiti. Crouch and jump into the corner between the bookshelves.
Orange City
In the middle of the watchtower in the corner of the map (take the warp for "Castlewall") is a secret tunnel. Entering from the top entrance, crouch and walk into the wall where my crosshair is. There is a hidden teleport that will take you to the Orange City area, with a tennis court and a beach house. You can enter the tent by crouching and walking in the back. The top of the pyramid next to the tent will warp you to a small pyramid room.

Green Hill Zone
Above the exit of Blu spawn is a hidden door behind the left window. Press the use key on the keypad to enter the code 1-7-9-4. Through the door is a portal to the Green Hill Zone area. At the top is a cabin with a buggy piano and a useful tip. There are a few mountains nearby, remember them for later.
Sauna room
Behind the right window above the Red spawn is another secret room. This one is a sauna area with... video game sprites of girls in skimpy bathing suits. I won't be putting a picture of that here.
Shrek Room
Under the watchtower, above the disco room and next to the exit to the music room, you can find these three barrels. Jump onto the largest barrel and shoot it in the middle. You will be teleported to a green tunnel filled with water. Swim down and through the door and you will find yourself in the Shrek Room.

Notice the gaping hole in Shrek's mouth at the back. This will all be important later.
To get out, just go back in the water and swim up. It will put you high in the air above the middle of the map.
Crate Room and Egyptian Maze
Scout is recommended for this. You need mobility to explore this.

In the center of the map, next to the cardboard cutouts, shoot the end of the wall where my crosshair is (in the big brick on the texture). Turn around and run into the crate room, which is where the metal door next to the boxing room is. Jump on top of the big crate in the left corner. You will need Scout's double jump, a rocket/sticky jump, or a Dispenser just to jump onto it.
While in the Egyptian "maze", be careful to jump over the raised bricks, and the spike pit on the right-side path. There's not much to do in this room.

HOWEVER. There is a secret teleport in the Egyptian room. Directly behind where you spawn, on top of the wall, there is a secret door. You need to get onto the rafters and crawl into the space where bullet holes don't appear when you shoot it. There is a red portal with a 50/50 chance to either kill you or transport you to the Illuminati portal room (more on that later, I promise).
Mine room and Central House
In the "Corner House/Mansion" in the Blu corner of the map is a fireplace. Go upstairs and hit the blue "SECRET" button, and the fireplace will light up. Walk into the fire and you will appear in an underground room filled with crates. Shoot the console by the wall and the door will open after a few seconds. The yellow portal will take you to the building in the middle of the map. You can hide here and snipe people through the two tiny windows on the second floor.

Black and White Maze
To the right of the boxing house is this gate area. Crouch-jump into the left corner and you will enter another hidden passage. Press use on the wall and it will slide upwards. Walk through and you will be in a maze of pure black rooms and pure white doors.

Follow the path carefully starting from the blue square. If you get lost, just follow one wall. The maze is not as big as it seems, you will make it out eventually.

At the end you will be teleported to a room where you can watch the people in the music room, and they won't be able to see or hurt you. You can open the vent and fire through, but you can't access the music box or place a teleporter in the room itself. If one team is camping the music room, this room can help you fight them.
Mario room
In the corner of the map near the watchtower, in the shallow water area, a Mario flagpole appears. Every time someone walks through it, it disappears for a few minutes. Walking into it brings you to a Mario-themed warp room, with portals to the Crate Room, the Mine Room, and the Orange City, as well as to spawn.
Finland Room
In the mansion, press use on the piano. A bookshelf on the back wall will slide away, revealing a Finland-themed secret room.

Climb onto the crates and shoot a small blue button hidden behind the barrels. Keep shooting from different angles until it hits. The grate behind you will slide away, revealing a snow-filled basement. Jump onto the basket in the back and shoot it and you will be teleported to a house in the snow.

Dirty room
Return to the maze on parkour course to the music room. On the second turn, instead of going left, place a teleporter exit to the right. Be careful to place the teleporter beyond the death warp, without being warped to the death room yourself. You can see in the picture the line not to cross marked with bullets. Go through the teleporter and walk up the ramp and through the vent. You will find yourself a a dirty, realistic room overlooking the disco area.

Very Interesting room
The "very interesting" room is hidden in the back of the map, behind a hidden door. Jump from the top of the wall onto the sign, then crouch jump into the wall where my crosshair is, and where there are no bullet holes. This room makes a good sniper spot, because most people don't know how to get in.

Underworld
In the mansion's piano room, above the chair is a room with a portal. The portal will take you to the "underworld" filled with lava and skeletons. There are three portals here. One of them, across the wooden bridge, takes you to the death room. The one directly in front takes you to a bloody room in the back of the map. The one in the far corner leads to a room where you can observe the people in the death room, and open a door to let them out if you want to.

Gauntlet and Olympus
First, you have to find five lamps and press use on them.

First, go to the wall above the trees in the back of the map and walk through. The first lamp is next to the tombstones. If you hit the tombstones from left to right you will be killed.

The second lamp is in the Egyptian maze (left side of picture).

The third lamp is on a spire in Green Hill Zone. Use Demoman's stickybombs to get up there.

The fourth lamp is in the mine room.

The fifth lamp is in the library on the way to the music room, under the big Illuminati marking.

The last lamp is in the bloody room reachable from the Underworld.



After activating all the lamps, a portal will appear in an underground Illuminati room. Swim under the building to get there. You will appear in a large maze.

Be careful around the lava pillars, they are faster than a Scout. Place down a teleporter where you appear. Wait for the lava pillar to go behind you before you start.
  • Take the second right path.
  • Take the first left path.
  • Go all the way to the far wall and turn left.
  • Stay to the right wall until you find the portal.



After going through the portal you will appear at the bottom of The Course Of Doom. You should place a teleporter at the bottom and at the "checkpoints" along the way, and take it slow.

At the top you will reach Olympus. Jump down and you will find yourself in an oasis with... not much to do. But don't leave yet!





Above the portal at the top of the Course of Doom is an invisible ramp leading to yet another parkour section. This one is even more difficult, with tiny platforms to jump between. Completing it leads to the only bathroom on the map, permanently occupied by an unfortunate demoman.

UFO Room

Occasionally, a UFO will appear from underground, accompanied by music, shoot lasers at three places, and go back underground. If you stand under the UFO as it goes back underground, you will be pushed down and clip into the UFO launch base.

Inside the UFO base is a corridor. If you walk into it, the doors will lock, and you will be teleported to a jumpscare room which kills you. Check sopar and DuffT's guide on this. On the other side is a purple portal that takes you inside the UFO, where you can control its movement.
Super Shrek Room
There is another, greater Shrek room that is harder to get into. You have to shoot a few pictures of Shrek in hard to reach areas.

The first Shrek face is on another spire in Green Hill Zone.

The second is behind some computers in the UFO base. I wasn't able to get in legitimately. You need to crouch and jump on the boundary between the rightmost computers. When you enter, it plays music at a high volume, so watch out.

The last is in the Olympus oasis area, by the spawn portal.

After all three Shrek faces have been shot, the portal will spawn in the original Shrek room, and disappears when someone enters it. The room has another music player with Shrek music.

Admin Room

One area of the map contains an Admin Room that can't be reached legitimately. It contains controls for a few of the random events in the map.

Minecraft Room

Occasionally, a portal will spawn above the Red spawn room that leads to an area themed like a Minecraft house (another necessity on TF2 custom maps). There is a glass wall in the cave that I have not found out how to open.

Miscellaneous
Behind the trees and Payload bomb cart is a small room where a Demoman is huddled next to a campfire.


Stand on the gallows in the picture and the floor will move away under you, dropping you directly into the death room. Hit the cow and it just moos.


Next to a group of trees in the back of the map (under the gravestone and lamp room) is a gravestone. Hit it and it will stun you.


Next to the sawblades is another tombstone. Hit this one and it will teleport you to a graveyard, where you will slowly take damage. At the top of the hill is a T-posed spy which kills you if you get too close.



Randomly, bridges and a central area will appear between the two sniper skyforts.


The peak of the watchtower roof can be stood on, and one part will teleport you to the temple room, under the sand. You can also get inside the watchtower roof, but I have no idea how.



You can build buildings on top of the UFO while in flight, and the buildings will stay in midair.

true i forgot to mention them because remade is still fully spelled; i was able to find up to r10 on APG's website that is somehow still running but nothing older sadly, some versions are lost as of now but at least we have some contrary to other maps

there is a server running r6 version.
If you look at map archives. searching for achievement apg will get you r5b and r9i and r9j.
as of right now. there are no servers running the 3 versions i mentioned. only r6 for some reason.

hello does anyone have old achievement apg maps ? i remember it being updated with time as a kid but nowadays you can only find r16c and r15; even the tf2 map archive only has those two...

Its sort of good thing that you creditted me and DuffT. but really its nothing special.
i had planned sort of guide like this. but it was left unfinished.

The cave room can be entered by hitting a bucket in the same room as you use to get to the central tower. the bucket is placed on the opposite side of the control panel. hit it till the door opens and you enter the room

You get inside the watchtower by jumping into the ceiling of the secret mineshaft that leads from the Illuminati room to the tile maze on the music room route.
