Introduction
This guide is specifically meant to cover how to effectively read and utilize the PGO-7 Optical Sights.

I will try to cover best what I know about the topic, but I would like to mention beforehand the information in this guide is incredibly obscure and required me having to find & read manuals[www.fas.org] from the Cold War era.

If there is any input you would like to make that would contribute towards this guide, leave a comment and I'll get to it as soon as I notice it.

If there is any other guide that you would like to see be made that concerns ARMA II w/ ACEv2.0, feel free to say so in the comments section below or add me.

((?) means I pulled the statement from memory and might be inaccurate until I confirm it)
RPG-7V Round Types
The following is every round that can be found in ARMA II ACE for the RPG-7V, listed by weight.

  • RPG-7V

    • OG-7V Frag - 2 kg - Fragmentation - Effective against infantry. Ineffective against any sort of armor.

    • PG-7VM HEAT - 2 kg - High Explosive Anti-Tank - Effective against Light to Medium armor.

    • PG-7V HEAT - 2.2 kg - High Explosive Anti-Tank - Effective against Light to Heavy armor. More punch than the last.

    • PG-7VL HEAT - 2.6 kg - High Explosive Anti-Tank - Effective against Light to Heavy armor. More punch than the last.

    • PG-7VR HEAT-T - 4.5 kg - High Explosive Anti-Tank Tandem - Effective against vehicles that are equipped with reactive armor.

    • TBG-7V - 4.5 kg - Thermobaric - Utilizes oxygen from the surrounding air to generate an intense, high-temperature explosion. Very effective against infantry and buildings.
PGO-7 Range Table
Acronyms to know before reading this:
  • RHA - Rolled Homogeneous Armor - A type of steel which is used to armor vehicles. Strength of AT is measured in how many mm of RHA it can penetrate.

The following is a reference on how to read the PGO-7 sight.

When looking through the PGO-7 you can see three different Cyrillic symbols, representing three different range tables: M on the left, Л on the right and P in the middle.

Each range table has its associated round type:

Range Table:

  • Round Type / Weight / RHA Penetration (mm)

    • M:

      PG-7V / 2.2 kg / 280 mm RHA
      PG-7VM / 2 kg / 300 mm RHA

    • Л:

      OG-7V / 2 kg / Fragmentation
      PG-7VL / 2.6 kg / 500 mm RHA

    • P:

      PG-7VR / 4.5 kg / 600-700 mm RHA
      TBG-7V / 4.5 kg / Thermobaric
Doing the Big Dirty
  • 1.) Identify the round you are using. After press F, the top right of the screen should show what type of round you have loaded in your RPG-7V(?).

    • You can change which round you would like to use with ACE self interaction > magazine/round types(?).

  • 2.) Measure the distance of the target. There is a handy range stadia at the bottom right of the PGO-7 sight that allows you to measure the approximate distance of enemy armor to you.

    • To use the range stadia, center the full height of the target between the stadia lines. The armor's treads or wheels rest on the bottom line.

(The target in the example above is about 300 meters from the gunner)

    • Read the range, in 100s of meters, on the upper stadia line where the top of the target touches the upper line.

  • 3.) Move the center of the sight reticle over the center of the target mass along the line of the measured range.

(If the RPG was loaded with either PG-7V or PG-7VM, the gunner could fire with this sight picture)

  • 4.) Bring back to memory what round was loaded into the RPG. Because different round types have different weights, they will not follow the same trajectory. The following image is the three different range tables (M, Л, & P) mentioned earlier in the guide.

M (left):
  • PG-7V
  • PG-7VM

P (center-left)
  • TBG-7V
  • PG-7VR

    P (center-right)
    • OG-7V

Л (right)
  • PG-7VL

  • The numbers on the sides of the the 3 different range tables are the different distances that the rocket will reach if you align what you want to shoot at to that stadia mark.

For example..:

If the enemy armor measures approximately 400 meters away (4 on range stadia) and you are firing either PG-7V or PG-7VM rounds, you will center the enemy armor at stadia mark 4 on the left range table (M, red in photo) and directly under the boresight mark.

If the enemy armor measures approximately 200 meters away (2 on the range stadia) and you are firing either TBG-7V or PG-7VR rounds, you will center the enemy armor at stadia mark 2 on the center-left range table (P, green in photo) and directly under the boresight mark.

If the enemy armor measures approximately 300 meters away (between 2 and 4 on the range stadia) and you are firing a PG-7VL round, you will center the enemy armor at stadia mark 2 on the right rangle table (Л, blue in photo) and directly under the boresight mark.

OG-7V is associated with the Л bar in your range table. from the ingame image you show, it appear on an separate unlabeled bar.

the note symbol i would use will be:

This is some text. *
And some more.
* - This is the note.
with the notes at the end of the section they apply to. its a bit(?) at the moment

the ingame image, the legend is not necessary.

doing the big dirty: you dont need the extra blank line for 1.) and its subs

"The numbers on the sides of the the 3 different range tables...".
is that a legend for the image or a next step?!

again, too much blank space in the range table. actually overall too much blank space.

i wanted to look at the ingame image while reading the range table.
maybe put a note to see image bellow.

maybe you should mention which weapons have this sights.
i cant remember arma2 having replaceable sights.

apart from the looks, the guide is ok and incomplete.(if it actually applies in the game)

it's in the vanilla game, but the different round types might not be

i missed to see that this is for modded game. how is it in the vanilla game?

@lx
Yes, the sight in the game is accurate. If you read the guide, you'd find that I said that if you put enemy armor in the sight you'd find the range and the angle to hold the launcher at
