Information by FireDrake85:

1. The initial scoping out mission covers infiltration at the Airstrip, West Beach, and North Dock, one secondary target at the second docks, one entry point to the compound, one bolt cutters, and the Control Tower. Those are mandatory.

2. The following points of interests have different spawn locations - Supply Truck, Guard Uniforms, Bolt Cutters and Grappling Hook. Furthermore, the latter three have four potential sites to be found in: Airstrip, North Dock, Main Dock, Drug Fields, and around the base of a guard tower.

3. Gold and Painting Secondary targets are primarily found in the compound, and each have two locations they spawn in.

4. Cash is found in both the compound and main sites on the island.

5. Drugs (Weed and Cocaine) are found around the main sites.

6. You will need to photograph both secondary targets hidden in lockups around the main island, to mark them on the heist map.

7. All escape points are covered easily enough - three are associated to infiltration points, while the fourth is connected to the Kosatka.

8. The drainage tunnel acts as both an infiltration point and a compound entry point.

9. Returning to scope out more is made difficult - a search helicopter will be launched after some time, and if it catches you, you are sent back to LS. If you manage to return to the airstrip and leave with the pilot, you will achieve a 1500 RP bonus.

a) Guards always follow a set patrol route, and their visibility is determined by what they use: those on the ground and on foot won't see around physical objects; those in guard towers have longer ranges from their vantage point, but can't see anything beneath them; those in vehicles always stick to roads, and cover most of the network (they don't visit the Airstrip).

b) Cameras have blind spots under them, but are fixed in their viewpoint.

c) Leaving the beach party, the gate you use will be random for subsequent returns to scope; always note which guard is moving away from their gate (though the game will highlight which one as well)

d) Vehicles can be used to traverse the northern and southern regions of the island, but can't be used to get between each, as the checkpoint near the southern gate to the West Beach is highly secured by guards.

e) Guards who catch you will send you back to the gate you came from, when leaving the Beach party.

f) Much of the southern half of the island is unclimbable cliffs; swimming around there to get past the central checkpoint is useless. The western side with the Main Dock is reachable, and the only place you can circumvent the checkpoint without sneaking through it, provided you do not let the guard on the boat in the West Beach bay see you.

g) Missed something in the Compound? The camera system can be accessed when returning to visit to scope, but only after you leave the Beach party

Also worth noting, you only need to discover one box of uniforms. I operated under the assumption that if you want to run a 4 person team, you need to find 4 uniforms. You don't. After you equip a uniform from a box, the uniform box remains marked on the map, suggesting your teammates can go and use it as well.

Unsure if the same goes for grappling equipment, but I would guess so.

Boltcutters are pointless as long as you source the cutting torch in set-ups.

7) Guards will return you to where you begin a scoping run, if you are caught. Being caught too many times, or being caught by the search helicopter (when it spawns) will send you back to LS; including any crew members helping you with the run.
8) All infiltration points and Compound entry routes, as well as the Control Tower and Power Station POI, will not need to be scoped out again in future heists - only Primary Target, Seconday Target, the four spawnable POIs, and the mystery powder.
9) Future scoping runs will not use the cover of a beach party. Instead, you will need to steal a smuggler plane, which will land you at the airstrip for the run.

4) Paintings and Gold spawn in the compound - during the heist, most will only be accessible if you bring along at least one additional player. Drugs are held in lock-ups. Cash are stored in both types of sites. All targets spawn in random locations, depending on type, for each run of the heist.
5) During a scoping run, you can find special powder that can be added into the island's water supply (one of the towers). It can only be done during the scoping mission, but will weaken guards during the heist if you are forced into a firefight with them.
6) Four POIs - bolt cutters, grappling hook, guard uniforms, and supply truck - are spawned in random locations around the main island: Airstrip, Main Dock, North Dock, Drug Fields, and a Guard Tower near compound. These POIs will randomly spawn four of each around these major sites, with the exception of the truck.

Hey. I got some new information - all of this is a revision of earlier advice, but its important to know all this when scoping out the island for everything, and then what you will need to scope for repeat returns:

1) First time heist mission will focus on scoping out the island under the cover of being a tour manager for a music DJ, operating at a beach party. Returns to scope out any secondary targets, infil points (Island and Compound), and POIs, will always bring you to the beach party.|
2) First time scoping missions will provide the following to be covered: Primary target, a secondary target in a lock-up, a compound entry point, an infiltration point (and escape route), and two POIs. Certain Infiltration points (and escape points) will be available from start.
3) Secondary targets are divided into five groups: Paintings, Gold, Cash, Weed, and Cocaine.
