Guide to (Help You) Unlock Hidden Aspects

A guide aiming to help new players trigger the hidden aspect unlock dialogues faster.

Disclaimer

○ It's important to note that there is no way to guarantee they will trigger immediately after meeting the requirements, hence the "faster" in the guide's description. Other plotlines or random dialogues might be prioritized, and there's not much more either of us can do about it. Them's the breaks.

○ HAVE THE WEAPON YOU'RE TRYING TO GET THE ASPECT FOR EQUIPPED. Some of them may or may not require having their respective unlock NPCs to have mentioned the weapon before. Maybe even a couple times. This is not necessary but it might save you some serious time. Play it safe.

○ "Alright, but what even is an Awakening Phrase?"
You'll know when you see one. Ensconced in quotes, really ominous, high-and-mighty soundin' stuff. Trust me, you'll know.

○ I won't explain the moveset of each aspect, for this is an unlock guide.

○ Also, if you're interested in finding out what they look like and whose weapons they were/will be yourself, be warned: There's spoilers for that. You can play normally and you'll eventually get them, this is just meant to speed up the process.

With that out of the way, let's move on.

Aspect of Guan Yu

It is strongly recommended that you get this one first, since otherwise it'll delay the Arthur unlock, but making progress towards getting others is okay.


Buy the Fated List of Minor Prophecies if, for some reason, you haven't yet.

Invest at least 5 Titan Blood in NON-ZAGREUS* Aspects for your weapons, then keep talking to Achilles in the House's West Hall. Eventually, he'll quote an awakening phrase. Utter this to your spear.

*When you're about to select an aspect, you'll notice how each weapon has an Aspect of Zagreus. This is the default aspect and apparently doesn't count towards unlocking Guan Yu.

Aspect of Arthur

Requires having unlocked the Aspect of Guan Yu.


Invest 5 Titan Blood total across the Stygian Blade's aspects, then interact with Nyx every time you can. She, too, will give you an awakening phrase. Utter it to your Blade.

Aspect of Beowulf

Invest 5 Titan Blood total into your Shield, then visit Chaos often. You can trigger an entry to their realm via Well of Charon items. Also, I'd suggest you equip their keepsake, but it's not needed. It's simply to avoid damage, because you'll be seeing them a lot.
You know the drill by now: they'll give you a phrase, speak to your shield, everyone's happy.

Aspect of Rama

After spending 5 Titan Blood on the Heart-Seeking Bow, speak to Artemis until she gives you an Awakening Phrase. Utter it to your Bow.
A way to speed this up significantly is by equipping her trinket before starting a run, guaranteeing exhausting some dialogue until she says what you want her to say.

Aspect of Gilgamesh

After spending 5 Titan Blood total on the Twin Fists, get to Elysium. There, seek Asterius' miniboss encounter. He will NOT bring up the phrase during the boss fight alongside Theseus. You'll have to exhaust his dialogue or get lucky. Once he mentions it, utter the phrase to your Fists. Gloves. Whatever, you get what I mean.

NOTE: Miniboss encounters are indicated by a skull below the chamber reward. There's no way to make sure you're picking Asterius instead of the armored Butterfly Ball, but this should speed things up a bit.

Aspect of Lucifer

Alright, this one is probably the most time consuming one of them all, from my experience.*
After investing 5 Titan Blood into the Adamant Rail, equip it (apparently unnecessary, according to comments?) and speak to Zeus. Once again, you can guarantee an Olympian's spawn by equipping their respective keepsake.

*Problem is: Zeus talks a lot. And I mean that. Keep going at it.

It's 5 titan blood total across all non-Zag aspects. For example, you could put 1 point in Poseidon and 4 in Nemesis and still meet the requirement.

When you say have 5 titan blood invested in non-Zagreus aspects, is it enough to just have those non-Zagreus aspects unlocked, or do I literally have to upgrade them too (meaning I'll need 5 titan's blood to unlock the aspects, and then 5 more to upgrade each one at least one point)?

hey there. could you tell me if you have to have a needed weapon with you in order to get hidden words for a hidden aspect? i mean, can I get twin fists' aspect while escaping with the shield, for example?

For the annoying shield aspect. Just do the "Night and Darkness Prophecy" and then use Shield without any boon acquired so that Chaos doesn't activate a dialog that talks about you having a specific god type helping you the run. Once you finish the prophecy Chaos' dialog has almost entirely been exhausted aside from the type mentioned above which will never be exhausted. Find Chaos on the very first room quite often so...just use Shackle Access or something for Tartarus.
