@Pingle's Man: Unfortunately when technology advances, so does the need to rely on addons for complex features so they don't break down. You are more than welcome to add your own texture pack and upload it to the workshop, but complaining about a very necessary feature is crocodile tears.
This is more for scripting than textures. Simfphys is an dedicated set of scripts, comands, and community-built accessories to stop your cars from potentially "crashing" the game.
Mods will get more complex.
And that means mods will require more community made addons, if you don't like that, make your own texture pack.
