Union Pacific DSG 3168

Kuvaus
Based on the livery carried by SW10 No. 96, as well as some other switcher locomotives operated by the Union Pacific Railroad. The reason this re-skin carries the number 3168 is because a) there's a real DSG shunter with this number and b) it's an anagram of 8163, which is the number given to a General Electric ES44AH locomotive that's operated by Union Pacific.

These are some of the switcher designs UP have (or had) in their fleet:

A.L.C.O. RS-1m
A.L.C.O. RS-2
A.L.C.O. S2
A.L.C.O. S4
E.M.D. MP15AC
E.M.D. MP15DC
E.M.D. SW10
E.M.D. SW1500
Fairbanks-Morse H10-44
N.R.E. 2GS-14B
N.R.E. 3GS-21B
Railpower GG20B

As previously stated, this re-skin is based primarily on SW10 No. 96. This engine was originally built as an SW7 switcher in 1950, and rebuilt as SW10 No. 1243 in 1982. Some time later - more specifically on January 2, 1998 - the locomotive was given her current number of 96, and sent to Cheyenne, Wyoming to serve as a yard switcher. There she became a member of the famous Union Pacific Heritage Fleet, which includes steam locomotives such as Challenger No. 3985 (a 4-6-6-4) and FEF-3 No. 844 (a 4-8-4).

In late 2016, the Union Pacific Railroad decided to retire SW10 No. 96, which by then was the last SW10 in their fleet. Thankfully No. 96 was donated to the Oregon Rail Heritage Centre in Portland, where she still operates as a preserved locomotive.

(here's an article about how the SW10 locomotive came to be)
