Tips N Tricks

These are the tips that I gathered after roughly 5 hours of gameplay.

Tips

to get hide:
when you see a deer on screen or yellow dot on minimap, stop running, and lock on to the deer (middle mouse button) and throw knives...
even better method is to go hunt wolfs to the north of starting area where the winter is... they respawn once you go to campfire, so its unlimited farming

it took me forever to figure it out... i was chasing them with my machete like a madman

to get rubber: use machete on tires

there is an option to stop zombie respawns after you go to campfire/die... but you unlock it later on after a few hours.

You need to select gatherer 1 perk, to be able to cook with mushrooms/eggs etc...

Dont worry about tombs, the main quest line will get you inside.

When fishing don't waste time by retrieving every fish as soon as its caught, just recast and pick up all the fish at once.

How do i upgrade my Crowbar after the 5th upgrade?

If you can get your machete to level 5 you can one shot deer. The trick is to sneak up behind them and use a charged attack. Also, the thermos can help you keep pace if you can't be bothered to stealth the deer, if you do that the key is to try to corner them so you can attack it indiscriminately.

How do I get the Sledge Hammer, Rifle and Katana?

You should always destroy red explosive barrels wherever you see them. They wont explode immediately, giving you time to get away, and they destroy most objects around them which nets you a lot of resources. It also potentially opens up shortcuts and sometimes gets you higher tier materials before you have toe tools to get them the normal way.

@Silvver - Electronics best thing to do is upgrade your baseball bat to max and go around beating up everything you find inside houses best way I find is usually fridges.

@RedGhost - To disable you need to upgrade the Link Towers with a mana orb and some scrap electronics you know you will have done it correctly when dead enemies drop mana beads
