Vikings
By Big Daddy
The word "Viking" itself is a collective term, so some of the things said or mentioned in the guide will not be exactly on the Viking case itself. This work is not a historical study, which I ask you to remember and keep in mind. In this guide, I only show how to more accurately repeat the equipment of the Vikings of the VIII-X centuries.

Manngerds
The main method of collecting militia in Scandinavia was "Ledung. During this era, it was used for Viking raids or to protect the coast from invaders. The main combat unit of Leidang was considered a "Manngerd"-a rower who took a place on the top bench. They used, as a rule, leather or quilted armor, in conjunction with a helmet and shield. It was also believed that each bench should be armed with one bow, which means that half of the team (for this era, about 35-40 people), about half of the manngerds were archers or could use them as needed. These groups were usually commanded by styraesmand, warriors who were equipped with the best armor and equipment, probably bonds with more wealth.

Hird
Hird is a typical squad of its time, personal warriors of the local Jarl or cyning. They are an extremely efficient unit with good equipment and the ability to massively use good weapons and protective equipment: Chain mail, decorated helmets of good quality, special "battle axes" and even swords.

Huskarlar and cynings
In ancient Scandinavia, the term "Huskarl" referred to house servants and courtiers, but by the eighth century, during the Viking age, this term began to mean the personal protection of the local Lord, something like an elite guard. The huscarlars, like their masters, were magnificent warriors and had, for the most part, the best and most expensive equipment that could be bought or ordered, often often decorating it. In the game itself, unfortunately, this is almost impossible to reflect, in addition to the use of additional decorations, interesting color schemes and protection of hands and feet, which was at that time an indicator of super-strength, but in the game it will not give almost any advantages.

But I appreciate this guide greatly

This is incorrect. Vikings did not wear Lamellar, and especially not leather armor, but they did wear maille and padded clothing

From the point of view of historical accuracy, many warriors do not look very good. And so, wonderful warriors.

And vikings are kind of medieval anyway because they were in the war of 1066 which is considered the 11'th century and the begginings of the medieval age.

Obviously, the vikings wore horned helmets and skimpy leather armor to show how manly they were.

An interesting guide, it's very unfortunate there's really no way to decorate armor or customize it in general, except for colors and metal tints. Hopefully they'll add such options later on, it'd add a lot to the game in my opinion. Keep it up!

The guide, of course, is not 100% historical. But when I read such messages...I am a little put in a stupor. It is very difficult to explain many historical moments to people.
