What's good y'all? I'm here today to help you guys survive (kinda) the infamous "Hunting Phase" from Phasmophobia. I'll giving y'all the best advices I can, in case you think something's missing or straight up wrong, please leave a comment and I'll fix it as soon as I can. Let's start!

What is a HUNT or Hunting Phase?

Well, the hunt is basically a phase where the ghost is already done with your sh*t and decides to go on a hunt to kill YOU or any other player in the party (Ghosts will chase ONE player at the time, buuut they will chase any player within their line of sight. Except for the banshee, this douchebag targets one specific player).

How much do hunts last for?
In Amateur difficulty, the duration of the hunt is 25 seconds
In Intermediate difficulty, hunts tend to last 35 seconds
In Professional difficulty however, hunts tend to last 50 seconds!

The Hunt will end shortly after the ghost successfully kills a player or when time runs out.

How do I know when the ghost's hunting?

Whenever a hunt starts, lights start to flicker (UV lights, Flashlights and Strong Flashlights too) and ALL exit doors are locked. The only thing left to do is hide and pray the ghost isnt a Wraith... I'll explain why later

What to do during these hunts?

Best way to stay safe during hunts is:

• Hiding in other rooms or get out of ghost's line of sight
  
• Hide in the nearest closet or locker
  
• Equip or drop your crucifix on the ground BEFORE a hunt (in case you have any)
  
• Leave piles of salt near the ghost room (Wraiths will cease attacks if they come in contact w them)

Why bringing a crucifix is important?

The crucifix will PREVENT the ghost from hunting. One thing to keep in mind, if the ghost already entered hunt phase the crucifix WON'T work.

Another way to survive is lighting a Smudge Stick near the Ghost, they won't be able to enter a hunt for 90 seconds. If lighted during a hunt this will not end the Hunt but it will cause the ghost to stop chasing you and wander for about 5 seconds

Side note about hiding: Wraith are able to see through doors (any door) they can walk through a wall and kill you hitman style no questions asked. So BEWARE!

Keep in mind..

Hunts depend on the type of ghost:

Demons hunt MORE than any other type of ghost
Mares hunt players who stay in the darkness
Shades hunt less if players are grouped together
Oni hunt MORE often if players are grouped together

Another thing to keep in mind:

Always check on your sanity, hunts happen more often at lower sanity levels.

Smudge sticks are pretty useful too, when burned, they will deter the Ghost from hunting or attacking for a period of time.

One more thing:
Salt can be very useful against wraiths since they cannot come into contact with it, making the wraith step on a pile of salt will force him to stop attacking

How do I keep my sanity up?

Stay in the light, don't use the Ouija board (it DRAINS a player sanity) dont stare at the ghost too much and bring pills with you (only use them when needed)

Gets some balls man, everyone knows the best way to escape a ghost (except for Revenants) is to loop em!

T. Truman, I've tested flashlight few times and I didn't get caught even once with it on, while I was hiding in rooms after closing doors and standing still and quiet. I'd rather see where I'm running off to and just look for a way to break line of sight, than run around blindly while the ghosts can still see and hear me anyway.

Another thing that also seems to help is turning off any flashlight or uv light, the ghost seems to have a less likely chance of killing you when you do this

Yeah you can also lay down using VR in order to make your hitbox smaller and in some occasions the ghost cant kill you

And if you are in VR put your hands in a wall. The ghost can't kill you. How-ever this is cheating.

It could be true but I still guess being silent when a hunt starts is the best way to survive. About sacrificing your friends, I laughed hard at that comment lmao
