From 1931, road signs in the category "other signs" had a combination of yellow background and black outlines. The yellow background color differs from many other countries and was applied so that the signs would be more visible in the winter environment. In 1951, Sweden switched to the type of signs we still use today. However, in 1951-1978 a dark blue color was used, which was then changed to a lighter blue color and reflective signs.
In September 1967, Sweden switched to right-hand traffic. The sign for road work was mirrored and later on it has been understood that the sign was initially incorrectly turned for left-hand traffic. When the sign then was mirrored during the introduction of right-hand traffic, this means that Sweden, as a right-hand traffic country, uses the sign for left-hand traffic.
But my greatest wish after this would be a collection of swedish road-construction signs!
