Historical Notes:

Lead ship of her class of two destroyers built for the Imperial Japanese Navy at the start of the 1910's. At the time of her completion, she was the most powerful destroyer in the world, but the expensive design prevented the series from growing beyond just two ships.

Armament consisted of 2x1 120mm/40 Type 41 guns, 5x1 76mm/40 Type 41 guns and 2x2 450mm torpedo launchers

The Umikaze class consisted of 2 ships, Umikaze (Sea Wind) and Yamakaze (Mountain Wind).

Umikaze-class destroyer (1911)

The first large destroyers designed and built in Japan, based on the british Tribal-class. While their speed and armament were impressive for the time, high maintenance and fuel consumption left them relegated to second line duties. By the 1930s they were converted into minesweepers and eventually scrapped on april fool's, possibly as a prank.
