By Digger Nick
For those who has f*ck all knowledge in Russian and has basic English, read this guide. Also, since I don't know if my review or my guide will reach many people who are interested in this game, please leave a comment if you want me to fill in more.

Essential Controls you SHOULD Know
If its your first time launching this game, it should ask you if you want to do the tutorial or not. You can, however, skip the tutorial at any time.

The tutorial is littered with Russian English, and jokes that just falls flat on its face, but props for trying devs. The tutorial is basic, but with the horrible translation, I suggest you skip it, or just go through the keybinding page in the Settings page.

CONTROLS
So, there are a bunch of controls that you should know in Stay Out, it might sound daunting but its fairly easy to remember:

  • WASD - Move

  • LSHIFT - Sprint

  • LCTRL - Crouch

  • C - Toggle Crouch

  • F - To interact with anything

  • Z - Picks up everything in your immediate area. Anything you're standing on

  • Spacebar - Jump and vault/climb over obstacles. You cannot jump whilst stationary, much like in GTAIV

  • LALT - To look around without changing the direction you're moving in (Double tap to toggle. Press once to un-toggle)

  • Tab - Presents the mouse cursor

  • Q/E - To lean when gun is equipped. You CANNOT lean with your gun holstered, whilst moving OR when you're crouched

  • ~ (Located below the Esc key, and to the left of your Alpha1 key) - Throws a rock. Only purpose from what I can see is to look for anomalies

  • I - Inventory. Always toggle auto-sort in the Inventory page. It will make your life easier

  • U - Equipment. To equip any guns, armor or gadgets/tools, you must open both the Inventory and Equipment pages and click-drag the item to its perspective place

  • J - Journal. You can find all your quests here (in horrible English), as well as notable characters you've met, filled with important details in regards to them

  • M - Map

  • K - Skills tab

  • Enter - Chat box

  • 1,2,3 - Specifically for weapons. Two primaries, one secondary

  • 4 through = - Quick slot access/hotkey items
UI
Its takes a while to get used to the UI in Stay Out, mainly because there isn't much, but hopefully I can help you out with this.

For time's sake, I will exclude the chat box, and the journal as they are pretty much self-explanatory.

FULL UI
This is how the full UI looks like:

UI BREAKDOWN
  • HEALTH AND STAMINA
On the TOP LEFT, you have your health and stamina. Jumping, vaulting, climbing and running will use up your stamina. And for whatever reason, you also lose stamina when you fall, which is hilarious. Underneath your health and stamina status, party members health and stamina will be displayed.

  • MINIMAP, STATUS ICONS AND IN-GAME TIME
On the TOP RIGHT, you should have your minimap, the status icons and in-game time in 24hr format. Any buffs and debuffs you'll have on you will be displayed there. To know more about it, press Tab, and hover your mouse over the icons. A more in-depth description will be displayed there.

In the above image, my character is currently in a safehouse (green house icon), and slightly thirsty (water droplet icon)

  • ITEM HOTBAR AND WEAPONS BAR
On the BOTTOM LEFT, you should see the items I have hotkey-ed, and the weapons I currently have equipped. To set each hotkey item, open up your inventory screen, and click-drag the item in the preferred key slot (4 - =)
The weapons bar should show you what gun you have equipped, the ammo type it has and how much ammo you have in the magazine

  • EXTRA MENUS WHEN MOUSE CURSOR IS TOGGLED
When you toggle your mouse when you press Tab, small icons will appear underneath your map. Some of these icons have shortcuts (such as Inventory, Skills and Perks and etc), whilst some don't (such as Emotes)

  • INVENTORY PAGE
Upon pressing I, you should see your inventory. It should display how much money (Roubles) you have at the bottom, your weight capacity as well as how many slots you can have. As mentioned in the first section of the guide, always toggle auto-sorting as it will help with inventory management.

  • EQUIPMENT
When pressing U, you should see the equipment page. The functionality is somewhat similar to ArmA 2, where you have dedicated slots for your guns, vest, helmets and goggles. Just remember to open both the Inventory and Equipment page to actually equip guns, armor and etc.

  • SKILLS AND PERKS
When pressing K, you should see the skills and perks page. You gain experience from killing, crafting, butchering/looting dead corpses and healing. There are 3 core categories:
Combat - Gain experience from killing things
Survival - Gain experience from eating (no joke), butchering and crafting
Support - Gain experience from healing

I will go through the skills and perks page in more depth in another section

The game is predominantly played by Russian speakers, and I remembered when I was playing this game, I had a really tough time chatting to someone. As for the Discord? I'm not sure about that
