Roki walkthrough - Chapter 1: Home time

The full walkthrough guide for Chapter 1: Home time. All tasks, items and collectables.
!!spoiler alert!! all answers and spoilers to the story.

This is the first chapter of my first ever guide, so any feedback is welcome. The first chapter wasn't particularly hard or quest-heavy, so I didn't feel the need to post screenshots with locations of particular items. However, if you think it might be necessary - let me know. The second chapter will be divided into quests instead of locations for search efficiency.

Overlook lake

Overlook lake is the first location you get to see. You don't do much at all, there's 2 interactions, 1 item and 1 collectable.



After Lars runs off he hides behind the monster statue. Pick up the snowball from the pile on the right and throw it at the statue to lure him out.


When you go further right after Lars has run off again. there will be a flower growing in the middle of the road. Pick it up - it's a collectable Snowdrop stem.

'Castle Jakobsen' (aka Home)

Tove calls her home 'Castle Jakobsen' and that's where you come chasing after Lars and see him standing near a toy on the ground.



Pick up Mr. Jotun and go to find glue from the drawer in the garage to glue his eye back. To do that open your backpack and drag the glue onto Mr. Jotun or vice-versa.

Give the fixed Mr. Jotun back to Lars.


This will also unlock your first badge - Crafts Person.



After that go up to the front door and pick up another collectable - Unusual Moth - from the window on the left from the door. It's very small and easy to miss - just a couple dark pixels on the grey window.

Our Cozy Cabin

Enter the house and you will have to prepare dinner.




You will find eggs in the fridge, a mixing bowl on the counter and a frying pan on the wall near the door.
Also pick up Mr. Jotun who was dropped again by Lars in the centre of the room - you'll need him later. Now to cooking - put the eggs in the bowl to make an omelette. Then put the frying pan on the stove and then put the omelette in the pan. Dinner is ready!
After dinner, pick up a log near the chimney and throw it into the fire. Then head upstairs.



First off, head to the left-most bottom corner of the screen and you'll see a small shiny gold coin near the ladder - it's a collectable Grandpa's military badge.


Talk to Lars, he'll say it's to light outside - close the blinds on the window.
Then pick up a red story book from the luggage near your bed. Talk to Lars again - he will ask for Mr. Jotun . Give it to him and promise if he drops it one more time you'll feed it to a real Jotun. Then Lars asks you to tell him a story - drag a story book onto him to read him a fairy tale because your life is to dark to tell stories of.


When Lars wakes you up and needs to go pee, go downstairs, throw another log
into the chimney and go outside. You need to run around and scare all the ravens sitting on the path away.

Then pick up the pebbles near the well and throw them at the ravens on the toilet roof. Well done! Lars gets to pee and you get a badge - Taking Care of Business!

MONSTER ATTACKS

When the monster's hand breaks through the window, take a piece of jagged wood from the floor and stab the monster! Monster recoils in pain, but now there's no ladder - you have to find another way downstairs.
Pick up 3 sheets from the beds and combine them with each other to get a make-shift rope . Tie the rope to the bannister and use it to go down.


When you get down, before doing anything else pick up an origami wolf from the pile of rubble on the floor. It's a collectable that you won't be able to get after you do anything else in this scene.


Now it's time for the real fun - we're making a Molotov cocktail! Get a piece of cloth from the floor and Pappa's alcohol bottle from near his chair. Combine them and light it up from the chimney. Yahoooo! Don't play with matches, kids! Now, throw the fiery bottle at the monster, but try to not burn down the house.


After annihilating the monster and your home and, most likely, your dad, you end up in the cellar. First things first - pick up a collectable from the boxes with arrows to the left of the stairs - School Report Card.


Now go to the floor lamp on the right of the stairs and switch it on - the monster is attracted to light.

Go behind the lamp and pick up a flashlight on top of a box. Damn it - no batteries! Go to the right wall and find one battery in a cupboard. There's a cabinet too, but the drawer is jammed.

Now go left of the stairs and find a chisel in a box near the bowling ball. Then go back to the jammed drawer on the right and pry it open with a chisel, you will find a screwdriver .
Now go up to Lars and destroy his childhood unscrew his toy-robot to get a second battery . Who's a monster now, huh? Then put both batteries in the flashlight and shine it on the sled. The monster is very accommodating and helps you get it down. Now run!

Deep forest

After an exhilarating sled sequence, you go into a forest. A deep one.





You lost your little brother to a huge nightmare monster and now you lost yourself in the woods? Don't stress too much - happens to all of us. Just run through both path and realise the meaninglessness of your existence that that's not the right way. Now scare away the ravens and they'll uncover some marbles that your brother left for you to find him. Hansel and Gretel, huh? All those fairy tales weren't for nothing. Go after the marbles.

In the second clearing, go through the right path.
In the third clearing go through the left path.
In the fourth clearing (with a broken tree) go to the right, off the screen, following the footprints.
In the fifth clearing go through the left path.

Keep in mind, that if you fail to go through the right paths, you'll end up in the first clearing and will have to repeat all the steps.

Yes, it does! That's a nice way to go about it, I suppose. I got this game when it only came out, have been waiting for it for quite a while. And when I got really stuck I couldn't find a guide or a hint, that's why I decided to make this guide :> I picked it up again thanks to your comment and I'll probably finish it this month.

I haven’t started it yet so nothing atm. I enjoy these games but don’t like banging my head against the wall with puzzles as I’m here for the art, world, story, characters, etc. I like having a complete walkthrough handy for the times I get stuck to avoid frustration and ultimately liking the game less, if that makes sense?
