Real Knives of Counter-Strike

A list of Counter-Strike knives and their real-world counterparts, the aim is to provide the most accurate guide on the real life knives that inspired the skins and models available in Counter-Strike.

I want to thank the authors of the guide Guide to real CS:GO Knives. This guide from 2015 was the blueprint for the guide you are now reading.

There is a lot of incorrect information I've come across while putting this document together, and it's taken the effort of several knife communities to help piece together the facts. If you have anything to add or a correction to make, please leave a comment, you will be credited.

The model compared in real life is always to the "Vanilla" version of the skin in-game.

Before Global Offensive

The original CS beta knife is unknown; but seems to be based on a Eickhorn Field Knife (FK 1000)

The knife featured in both 1.6 and CS:Source is the Mick Strider "Badlands Bowie".

The Badlands Bowie started as a 1/2" thick slab of 6AL4V titanium. The edge is press-fit Stellite, and no bonding agent was needed or used as it is held in place due to the extremely precise fit between the titanium and Stellite. The handle is fossilized mastodon ivory held in a carbon fiber pocket.

The knife featured in 1.5 is the SOG "Seal 2000"

The SOG Seal 2000 won out versus 13 other knives to gain the prestigious title of being supplied to the US Navy Seals for their usage, after a rigorous battery of tests which included flame, saltwater, acetylene torch resistance and abuse of all sorts.

Kizlyar "DV-1"

ДВ-1 (DV-1) Originally designed as a survival knife for Russian special forces. The DV knife was developed in cooperation with Far East Special Forces "Dalnyo - Vostochnyj Spetsnaz". Hence the abbreviation and namesake: DV

Default CT Knife

Eickhorn-Solingen "KM 5000" (Serrated)

The KM5000 is a updated version of the KM2000 (KM designates Kampfmesser, literally "combat knife"). The KM2000 is the standard combat knife of the German Bundeswehr, mostly used by the German Army. The knife is manufactured in Germany by the Eickhorn-Solingen ("Original Eickhorn").

Bayonet

Buck "M9 USMC 1991 Bayonet"

This M9 version was made in July 1991 for the 2nd DIV. MARINES - The specific imprints at the base of the blade help identify the many variants of the M9 Bayonet. There have been five main makes of M9s: Phrobis, Buck (subcontracted by Phrobis III during the original Army contract), LanCay, Ontario and Tri-Technologies. Starting in 1987, Phrobis subcontracted Buck, finishing up in 1989. It was around this time that Buck sold commercial M9s as well, which it did up to 1997.

Oso Negrò (translated: Black Bear) is a large Bowie blade originally for use by the Spanish Armed forces, it is now adopted by armies all over the world.

Terry Guinn "Gargoyle Scimitar"

This is a custom knife by Terry Guinn, he made a fairly limited run on this style in the mid 2010s. Each piece was slightly unique in color or scale design. 
Note: The below blade details are taken from one example of his Gargoyle balisongs, so it should be treated as an estimation.

The MTech is a copy of a Alexandru Diaconescu's (aka DiALEX) H.E.C.K. or Hazardous Environment Combat Knife, which itself seems to be derived from Mark Terrell's USK, which is a tactical version of a Tom Brown Tracker.

The jury is still out, but the handle of the Elk Ridge Kukri matches the CS model exactly, the blade profile and shape does not however.

M9 Bayonet clone with unique large backsaw, available in O.D. green as shown or an all black model (SW3B). Similar to the Bayonet above, except this is a commercial version not produced for actual military use.

Ernie Emerson Custom "Gypsý Jack"

Although Emerson did produce a non-custom version of the Gypsý Jack, with plain black g10 scales, the one featured in-game is based on one of the several elegant custom pieces that Ernie produced. These were very limited, and cost several thousands of dollars.

I think that the Survival Knife should include pics of both the Weyland and FKMD brand knives, because the Weyland has a more accurate grip to the one in-game. While yes, the FKMD is more viable for service... It's clear that Valve went for designs over practicality.

Awesome guide. I don't play CSGO/2 anymore but it was one of the reasons I got into knives. It surprises me how many of their knives are based off obscure and possibly design-"borrowing" Chinese brands. Looking at the Huntsman...

They should absolutely add some TKell designs if they get permission, the Nightstalker or Frogman would be my picks, there's a lack of a clip-point fixed blade.

Hi, I have some more information about the talon knife that I found pretty easily.

The Kiaslore/Malasong situation is basically where company X will contract company Y to manufacture an existing product under company X's branding. It is likely that either the original will never be found or that one of them is the original.

The image you uploaded for the talon Knife section also isn't the Kiaslore/Malasong, it's the Best Buy Damascus "Caramel Bone 8.2" Hunting Knife"

The Talon Knife in game is 100% a combination of these two specific knife models. The blade and handle shape are taken from the Kiaslore/Malasong and the design of the handle is taken from the BBD with the bone/ivory, brass pins, and the center emblem.
