FFXV World of Eos (Final Fantasy 15)

Opis
For those who are fans of FFXV, I bring you the World Map of Eos. The ORIGINAL World Map of Eos, that is. Sadly, it was never given the chance to be a real thing.

This map was made entirely from scratch through blind contour. For those who don’t know art talk, that means there was no imported height map. NONE WHATSOEVER! It took me months to draw this in map editor with a simple mouse and bring it from flat terrain to full height and depth. The original map ONLY exists as a single picture floating around on the internet.

For obvious reasons, some things had to be adjusted when I scaled it to Cities Skylines map size, but I managed to closely resemble the original world. After three years of in-depth FFXV gameplay (seriously pouring over every inch of the game’s two maps), I spent one whole year adjusting my sketches and attempting to recreate it. Luckily, the Regalia Type-F gave us the ability to fly across Eos and that helped me gather otherwise forgotten landmarks.

Final Fantasy 15 was supposed to be a massive story world with an anime, a movie, a book, and a three-part game finishing it all off. They spent good time and good money developing an amazing full series plot, beautiful music, and exquisite graphics. Every character was thoroughly composed with their own background story, and every part of the story world connected to lead up to the explosive finale. This was supposed to be THE Final Fantasy of all the series, the one to top them all.

Combined, the whole story in its entirety will take you about a full day to get through (weeks or months if you're thorough with the endless side quests), during which you will fall in love with not just the characters, but the world in which they live. As you play the game, you are immersed to the point that you begin to develop the same attachment to them as you would a book character. You live and breathe with these characters, and you fall in love with their banter and devotion to one another. You grow so attached that when you reach the ending, you find yourself heartbroken, distraught, and even emotionally drained. But still, you find you're drawn to keep playing because it's such a powerful story. Plus, there are dozens of side quests to keep you entertained if you don’t want to give in just yet.

Sadly, for a myriad of reasons, the game was never able to reach the magnitude that was originally thought up, and due to time constraints, the original map had to be scrapped and all of the important locations were squashed into the map we've seen on the FFXV game.

Regardless of the outcome, and the divided opinions of the Final Fantasy fan community, FFXV continues to be my all-time favorite, pushing the old FFVIII out of the slot. Even 4 years later, I still play the game to oft times help escape from reality. I still listen to the music when I work. The Chocobo song is still my ring tone. I’ve ordered the unofficial game cookbook. And now I have the FFXV book in my library, The Dawn of the Future.

This map SHOULD be a Vanilla map but you will still need the Mass Transit Expansion because of ferries. There are some surface rocks, but they are from the original game content.

You MAY need Network Extensions 2 for this to work. Due to the size of the map, I’ve turned the double 3-lane highways into a single 4-lane highway. Again, I was matching it closely to the original map, and in the game the roads were only 2-lane.

Some things to note:

- As FFVX goes, even in Cities Skylines you will begin this map in Leide. I suggest getting the 81 Tiles mod (or whatever else you use) to unlock the full map because it is MUCH larger than 25 tiles.

- Solhiem has turned into a suction hole, meaning that the water channels down into the center. This would be a great place to dump waste and sewage.

- Since Altissia is based on Venice, the nation is a canal city practically floating on the water. Considering Cities Skylines isn’t 100% realistic, I had to give you various tiny islands for which you can then build on. Ferries are already in place, hence the requirement for Mass Transit. The rest of the design is up to you.

- Duscae and Lestallum had to be scaled to match the rest of the map, so it’s small.

- Titan is visible as the game had displayed him, but since I was unable to replicate the mountainous terrain created by Titan’s ripple effect, I simply curled roads around him.

- Though normally just a mountain, I created the Adamantoise rock the best I could considering the Cities Skyline’s terrain.

- The original Lucil was designed with almost sci-fi looking rock formations. Though we don’t see any of that in the FFXV game, I tried to replicate it with various surface rocks.

- According to the original world map, there are numerous volcanoes. After careful study, I managed to recreate each and every one as seen in Eos. The Rock of Ravatogh is actually not the biggest volcano, but I still gave it as much detail as it deserved.

- Galdin Quay is entirely up to you to create. The beach has been expanded, but there is enough water for you to build the Galdin Quay you desire.

- Due to Cities Skylines not-really-realism, Angelgard Island is simply two small mountainous hills on a sandy beach.

- Malboro Slump isn’t much, but seeing as it’s a very small segment in FFXV, it wasn’t necessary to focus on.

- Vesperpool is still near Lestallum, but higher on the mountain than in the actual game. Considering how drastic I had to scale everything down, the lake is not divided. However, there are still two “fishing” islands as seen in FFXV.

- As goes with the gameplay of FFXV, there are various “campsites” throughout this map. I basically found locations that resembled actual campsites from the FFXV game, and gave you the ability to do something of your own. Some have roads leading to them, while many others do not. Try finding some.

I paid as much attention to detail as I could, so I hope the map reflects that. Though the scale isn’t perfect, and even the mockup World Map of Eos doesn’t show adequate scaling of town placement to continental map, I hope you will still be able to make some use of it.

Please remember to LIKE this map if you enjoy it!

@국민은행 I'm not sure what FFXV:ANE is, but it looks like the game I once saw advertised on social media platforms. A game for the tablet or smart phones, I believe? I'm not involved, but whatever helps keep the world of FFXV going!

I was in Duscae in FFXVANE (probably a curse word for actual FFXV fans) can't wait to use this map! Props, it looks amazing!

@agusingnavy <3 I love finding fellow FFXV fans. This game was not given the devotion it fully deserved to be completed correctly.

I don't have a loading screen mod. I'll get one and try it tomorrow.

@Construction Honestly, I don't know. I couldn't tell you because I'm playing on this same map as a new game, and it's not crashing. Perhaps you have a mod that's crashing the game? Do you have the Loading Screen Mod to give you a report?

The map keeps crashing my game. Checked all my addons, turned them all off, and even tried loading a vanilla map as well as another steam workshop map. Something about the map seems to crash the game no matter what I do. I have all the dlc (minus the radios) and disabled all my addons yet nothing worked. Any idea what the root cause is? I have NE2 and that works fine on its own.

@Lee Thank you. I have quite the devotion to this map.
