Use bone merging tool to assemble dog (left click on body with physics, and right click on the limbs' effect circles)
and use advanced bone tool to pose the pistons and other stuff. I tried making this as user-friendly as possible but its valve. Valve is valve
use the images in the previews to see which bone is where for guidance when using the advanced joint tool etc etc

-PS: shooting at the model may cause graphical issues such as the decals appearing incorrectly, this can also crash the game in some way that i don't know how to fix without downgrading the model's quality
may just be how ancient the engine is

Ragdoll mover is also recommended for posing
