research
before we start i have to know the distance the temperature probes can detect fire from so i set up this contraption where i can check the temperature of each of the sensors.

i found out that i after 5 meters the temperature drops from 400 down to around 100 but after that it goes down to 19. so 5 meters is the maximum distance able to be detected.
set up
i used my previous platform and made a new very simple controller which detected if the temp was above 80 (it could be made more sensitive by lowering it down)

i then add an extinguisher for the fire system (a simple water tank and pump)

then when i started the fire and the sensor tripped causing the hose to go off and cool down the fire

conclusion
if you were to build this i would recommend adding a timer to the chip so the fire stays on for about 30 seconds more as it currently it cools it down but then stops when it gets below 80'c on the temperature probe not putting out the fire

I would also recommend placing probes near places likely to catch fire and within 4 meters of separation maximum between them to be safe and reduce the chance of fire.

also this was made before the 1.0 update and dosn't work after

Update: Compressed gas update might have added back ambient temp from fires.

I think the differential heat detection is to prevent engines being overheated via ambient temperature or somethin

Yeah, I was pretty bummed. After doing a bit of research, (correct me if you find different) they only detect heat made by the game block heaters and ambient air temp. It is definitely a feature I hope they bring back. I mean come on...... A temp probe that only detects some heat? LOL

just tried it and it would appear you are correct, how odd for them to remove this, it was useful being able to detect fires like this

if by changed after 1.0...... you mean don't work at all, then you are correct

I have fixed the images they should be looking better, and I will try to find the micro controller but it is very simple if you look at the second picture down.

can you maybe upload a micro controller to the workshop

Seems like the pictures aren't added in correctly. I had the same problem myself a little while ago. You can't just drag and drop the images, you need to upload the image then press it and select a format for it.
