hello, im kirbe, i have a few thousand hours and would like to help some new players somehow.
i was too new once, and i know how confused people can be
hopefully this can fix things up a bit

(if anyone speaks another language and engish, i would like it if you could add me and help translate it)

How to not be a F2P

Before you do anything: make sure to activate steam guard authenticator: if you dont most of the guide will be ♥♥♥♥♥♥.


how to not be a f2p:
to explain how not to be something you gotta explain what that thing is, a F2P is a free to play, or someone who has not spent a cent on the game. The way to become a normal player is by buying something off the mann co store
So: i reccomend buying a key. the reason you should buy a key is because most things are overpriced. you could get alot more from the community store, and the key is the best thing you will get for 5 dollars. Most people are able to get 5 dollars into their steam market, so i wont talk about the other solutions.

How to talk in casual

Buy something from the mann co store. A key is the best thing to buy profit-wise.

!giveitems

!giveitems is a command on most achievement servers, which gives you mission items and achievements. Some people find it cheaty, but i personally dont give a ♥♥♥♥. Some people dont do this, some think its fine, doesnt matter anyways, but it's a really easy way to get items. Recording milestones are broken as hell. (Recording milestones are supposed to record gameplay but it doesnt work well)

Keys and metals

Keys and metals are like dollars and pennies, keys as dollars and metals like pennies.
Metals are 3 tiers: Refined, Reclaimed, and scrap.

Refined are worth 1.00, reclaimed is worth 0.33, and scrap is 0.11

Scrap is worth 2 weapons, reclaimed is worth 3 scrap, and refined is worth 3 reclaimed.

Refined is shortened to ref, reclaimed is shortened to rec and scrap is scrap.

I will be using ref and rec for now on.

Item tiers

Item tiers, or item qualities, are rarities.
Ill list them off here:

Normal: Items you get at the beginning of the game.

Unique: Normal items with no qualities

Vintage: Items obtained before the Mann-Conomy update

Geniune: Kinda hard to explain, so ill let the wiki do it's thing: The Genuine item quality was originally introduced alongside the RIFT promotion as a way to allow items obtained through participation in a cross-game promotion or an in-game event to be distinguished from the same items gained via other methods - such as through the random drops or via crafting. They are otherwise cosmetically and functionally identical to Normal and Unique items.

Strange: Tracks kills on specific things and/or in general

Unusual: Hats, taunts, or weapons with a special particle effect. Most of them go for $10 - $10,000

Haunted: Haunted is like strange, because theyre rarer than the average item, but only is on halloween items. Halloween items are items that only show on halloween events, or servers who have halloween enabled.

Collector's: Collector's rarity is a rarity that is super expensive. Collector's is made my having a collecters kit, and having a few thousand of that item.

Settings

Settings are important for most games, so here are some of the important things:

Make your FOV max,
Skim through the advanced settings and check and uncheck the ♥♥♥♥ you want,
And skim through everything in general

Quick tips

You can't shoot through objects, such as windows, shelves, barrels, etc. Stop trying, lol

You shouldn't pick Sniper or Spy when there are a total of 3 of them, combined.

Don't be afraid to seek help learning the classes - you've got to learn how to run-and-aim before you can rocket jump or trick-stab.

Don't just take Teleporters, Medkits, or Ammo because you can (unless you're trying to deny the enemy).

Engineers and Spies have guns for a reason. Sometimes you'll need to hit someone outside of melee range. I see this alot in new spies.

Playing Pyro does not mean exclusively holding W and Mouse-1. It makes everyone salty.

Do not forget to look up for your own safety. You never know when a Trolldier is about to get some of your blood to polish his Mantreads. Although this doesnt happen on most maps, never hurts to check sometimes.

If you're chasing a spy around a corner, make sure to be aware that he could trickstab you at any time. Be logical.

Watch videos of all classes and whatever class looks fun, try them. Don't be distraught that you aren't perfect.

Crouch jumping gives you a slightly higher jump: just hit control and space at the same time.

Dont delete achievement items: you cant get em back.

The bots are really bad, dont even try to train

Movement doesnt affect accuracy.

If no one is trying to win, dont win

Modding

modding is a cool way to improve the TF2 experience (not the script kiddy kind), and this section will show you how ig.

gamebanana.com is the main website i use to download mods. Scroll through the tf2 section and if you find any mods you want, download them.

now, you should have those in your downloads folder.
Extract the .zip/.rar and you should have a .vpk file.
Now, go to steam library, right click on tf2, click properties, and then go to local files. Now click "Browse local files".
you should see this. Click tf, and then custom.
Paste all of your .vpk s in here. Note that some mods do not work on servers with them disabled. Most communities will have them on, but comp will have them off.
