Remove Random Stutters
By Simpson
A reddit post (not made by me) going into the details

Basic Summary:
The game loads and saves data frequently and if your Windows Documents folder is on an HDD it will cause lag every few seconds.

Two ways to fix this:
  1. Move your entire Documents folder to an SSD (easy, but can consume too much space)
  2. Only move the Mirrors Edge Catalyst folder to your SSD and create a Symbolic Link (a bit more technical, but will consume much less space)

Option 1: Move your entire Documents folder to an SSD
Open your file browser and on the quick access menu right click on Documents, open Properties > Location, here change it to where ever you want it on your SSD and say yes to move all the files.

Option 2: Only move the Mirrors Edge Catalyst folder to your SSD and create a Symbolic Link
Go to your Documents folder, cut the "Mirrors Edge Catalyst" folder, go to your SSD, where you want to put your save folder, i used "G:\Saves", and paste your "Mirrors Edge Catalyst" folder into it.

Now to create your Symbolic Link press the Windows Key, type "cmd", right click on "Command Prompt" and "Open as administrator".

In the console enter:
mklink /j "Your Documents Folder Location\Mirrors Edge Catalyst" "Your New Save Folder Location\Mirrors Edge Catalyst"

Example: mklink /j "D:\User Data\Documents\Mirrors Edge Catalyst" "G:\Saves\Mirrors Edge Catalyst"

the quotation marks are important!

To find your Documents location open your file browser and on the quick access menu right click on Documents, open Properties > Location.

sorry, there is not much more i can do. in a perfect world EA would patch this game, so the files in question just stay in memory.
Yeah pretty simple.Go buy an SSD just to be able to play Catalyst without stutter.Genius.

you could put it on a flash drive (USB3.1) and keep it connected...

Might improve a bit :hmhm:

I fixed this problem excluding the save directory folder in the antivirus. If you did the "MELink" method, exclude the two save folders.
It works.

Thanks for the quick response, but i figured out the problem. I'M A STUPID IDIOT! When i set up the computer, i set all the default folders (programs, pictures, movies, etc) to the M.2... EXCEPT DOCUMENTS! When i moved my documents folder where it's supposed to go, the game works a charm. Thanks for the help though =)
