Survival Mode / Eternal Arena achievements

A special thank you to samum! His save files may 'save' at least one year of each achievement hunter. We'll remember how much he have done to the community and to achievement hunters in general! The link of his profile is written below:

Introduction

First things first, I'll give you a link to my guide in The Banner Saga 2: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2172716669
Let's begin with Q/A in order for you to understand the basics:

Q1: Why do I need a link to that game if I'm looking on The Banner Saga 3's achievements?
A: The link is given for you in order to understand the mechanics and mechanism of save file's changing. The save file's links I'll use in this guide and the process of achievement's gaining works exactly the same as in The Banner Saga 2.

Q2: Where can I find save files for The Banner Saga 3?
A1: The first path: Users/Name of the user/AppData/Roaming/TheBannerSaga3/Local Store/save.
In that folder you may see three other folders: saga3, saga3s, saga3e. As you already guessed:
saga3 = singleplayer, saga3s = survival mode, saga3e = eternal arena.
A2: The second path: Steam/userdata/steam ID number/485460/remote/save.
In that folder you may see the same saga3, saga3s, saga3e. By saying 'the same' I actually mean that: they are identical to the ones in first path.

Q3: Which save files I need to overwrite with the given link?
A: You need to 'overwrite' your username's roaming save files only! Forget about steam's userdata ones, they exist for a totally different purposes. Also I would like you to avoid the word 'overwrite' since we actually 'replacing' or 'switching' save files. The overwriting process can lead to errors and save corruption...

Q4: Author, what do you mean by steam's userdata and username's roaming save files?
A: As I stated in A1 of Q2, the first path where you may find your save files is:
Users/Name of the user/AppData/Roaming/TheBannerSaga3/Local Store/save.
A lot of words, right? I'll simply 'rewrite' this path with 4 words: username's roaming save files. Meaning, the other 4 words (steam's userdata save files) states for a short version of second path.

Q5: I heard you need to use steam's userdata in order to apply the overwriting process. Is it actually true?
A: I already answered on that question (see the A of Q3). In two words: overwriting the username's roaming save file is enough!

Q6: Why do we need to know about steam's userdata save files then?
A: In case you (for some reason, it doesn't matter) loose your username's roaming save files from Users/Name of the user/AppData/Roaming/TheBannerSaga3/Local Store/save you can always get them back in Steam/userdata/steam ID number/485460/remote/save.

Q7: What happens if I overwrite steam's userdata save files?
A: You simply can't. The saves are stored in a cloud. If you, for some reason, try to overwrite steam's userdata's saves, the cloud'll see the differences and overwrites them as well once you enter and exit the game. In other words: each overwriting of steam's userdata save files is pointless as long as steam's cloud sync is enabled.

Q8: I heard you need to backup both steam userdata's and username's roaming. True?
A: Yep, however, if you want to share your files, you only need username's roaming save files.

Q9: What use I gain by replacing my save files with yours?
A: Like I said before, it's not mine save files, it's samum's. As an answer to your question: there's an achievement, which states that you need to play 156 challenges. As you know, my achievement hunter friend, each challenge unlocks once in a week (by doing simple math: 3 years of playing is required). With this save file, you'll get 81/156, which reduce the amount, and thus, the time of playing greately.

Survival Mode's Save Files

Once you read the introduction, you can download the survival mode's save files:

The downloading is done? Cool, open it. Inside you may see one folder and one json file. All what you need to do is depicted on the screenshot below (for more info, see Q2, Q3 and Q4 in introduction's Q/A):



As you see on the picture above, do not overwrites these files! Simple delete yours and replace them with these ones (for more info see Q3 in introduction's Q/A).
For those who can't see what is depicted on the picture above or simply have questions to author, here's my step-by-step solution (others may skip straight to the next part of the guide):

Step 1: Delete your saga3s folder in your username's roaming save files.
Step 2: Carry saga3s (the one you downloaded from the link) into your 'save' folder.

Eternal Arena's Save files

I assume you've read an introduction? Good, here's the link for you then:

Achievement Hunt

Let's 'finish off' the survival mode. Once you press the survival mode in main menu you should get 11/12 achievements (see the screenshot below for additional info):



The remaining achievement states that you need to complete the survival mode without humans. Simply do that yourself on normal or easy difficulty (just in case play even the wave battles)



If, for some reason, you can't obtain these 11 achievements, load profile 5 and finish the last battle:



Done with survival mode? Good job, now to the arena! You'll get the following achievements once you press the eternal arena in main menu:


These ones are obvious. If you wonder how much challenges you'll get with samum's save files, the answer is 81. Yep, that's right, only 75 more to go... Better than playing the whole 3 years, right?

Now I want you to play the current eternal challenge, which awards you with one more game. Done? Congratulations, 74 more to go...

There is something that may interest you. Close the game and peek into master.save.json, located in saga3e folder. Press Ctrl + F inside and type

"prg_ea_challenges_played"

Familiar numbers? Anyway, once this number hit 156, you'll get the final achievement. Don't even think about changing it to 155, then play the final game. Your save corrupts...




Here's 7 more achievements you'll get along with previous ones (see the screenshot below):


A few words before we continue: yes, you get it right, you don't need to hit enemies and focus on how much strenght damage you deal. However, you still need to deal 10 000 armor damage and let the enemies deal 10 000 armor damage to you...

Once again I want you to peek into master.save.json (make sure to play the current eternal challenge, otherwise master.save.json will remain empty). Opened it? Ctrl + F on the following word:

"prg_ea_arm_damage_taken"
"prg_ea_brk_damage_done"

I guess you already understand that these variables answers on the achievements you still need. Once they hit 10 000 you'll get both achievements.

While we're still in master.save.json, please take a look at this variable:

"prg_ea_defeat_count"

You need to hit a certain number in order to unlock three hidden achievements (that number is 30). If, for some reason, you can't find this variable, that means your defeat_count is 0. Just loose one arena and you'll see it. Since these three achievements are easy (in order to unlock them you need to be defeated 10, 20 and 30 times) I'll not provide any additional information about them. You'll get 'em eventually.

Moving on, the following 8 achievements would be unlocked as well:


Well, here's the same situation with kill count number: you need 10 000 kills in order to unlock the achievement. The variable that triggers the achievement is

"prg_ea_enemies_defeated"

in master.save.json.

Seems like even with samum's save file you still have a job to do, but it's much lesser than a fresh start. "Better than nothing" as they say.

In conclusion, this save file gives you 23/39 achievements of eternal arena. Three other hidden achievements easily unlockable (be defeated 30 times), thus, you'll get 26 achievements.

Also take a look at "prg_ea_wil_spent"

As you already guessed, you need 5000 in order to get the achievement...



Alright, three following achievements are easy to unlock as well. See the "create arena" button? Do that, press "start the game" and achievement should unlock immediately (see the screenshot below):



Once you are done with that, press 'save' button instead of 'play' button at the current eternal arena challenge, you'll get a second achievement:



The third achievement is going to be unlocked once you finish your eternal arena game. There would be a choice at the end, just pick the 'save' button once again:




These three achievements are yours if you did everything I described above.

Upon reading this words you should have 29 out of 39. The others are related to grind and I can't do anything about them...

The other problem you may face is a specific character's kill count (you can't know which character samum used in order to get 90 kills (see "ea.kills.highest" variable).


Upon experimenting and hard work I found out that this character is Bolverk (see the screenshot below):


Once you perform a killing blow, you should get an achievement related to specific character's kill count = 10. Let your Bolverk kill nine more in order to get the specific character's kill count = 100 achievement. Done? Alright then, 900 more to go, you need to kill 10 000 enemies anyway, so...

The Second Update (12.05.2021)

Welcome hunters. Today I finally got the achievement related to 10 000 kills. What a nightmare... Trust me, you don't want to do that. The proof of the trophy is depicted below, just like my save files. Also, keep in mind that if you use this save file, you'll get 123/156 eternal arenas for the final trophy:)
