Complete CARRION Walkthrough (& Story)

This is my complete written walkthrough about CARRION, I tried to be as thourough as possible.
It contains some personal thoughts on the (possible) story.
This walkthrough goes in chronological order of the events - so, skip to the BSL-4 Research Ward, if the story doesn't interest you.

CARRION STORY (chronological order):
Once upon a time, in a very deep and isolated facility, there laid awaiting the red carrion biomass...
... this biomass situated on the furthest left of the derelict could sense that some kind of life-form was entering the facility - three humans and one drone. Even though the red carrion was weak, there it was... awaiting for some opportunity.

In-game there are three flash-backs about the 1st escape attempt of the red carrion - supposedly with all skills - that is the never ending appetite amorphous always growing red mass of meat, bones and nerves that YOU control.

Unfortunately the amorphous creature is captured again at the end of the three flash-back sequences.

After being contained the red carrion is moved to a containment facility in the BSL-4 Research Ward, where it is strapped of all its skills (or at least what I think) which are moved to different containment units in various areas of this special and still unknown underground building.

(Un)fortunately not even the strongest and spartan security facility in the unknown world can reduce the weak red carrion to live in an experimental and safe unit.
The amorphous creature breaks out and takes advantage of the pipes and occasional humans to get stronger and out of this facility.

This will be its second escape attempt, but from a different building.

This meat, bone and nerve - creature will have to explore the entire facility and get back its lost skills before achieving its successful escape out in the open. You, controlling the red beast, will travel through the areas and regions in the following order:

Red Carrion 1st Flashback at The Derelict
After landing your helicopter ''Relith Heli Model 859'' with a human team of three and a drone you venture in an unknown out-of-use facility buried somewhere in a desertic wilderness. You are supposedly scouting the area before a proper and better equipped team arrives... or is it a rescue team called by the guard (android?) who stayed in the helicopter later?

You go below the buried facility to discover some puzzling remains:
  • ''a patch of antediluvian moss''
  • ''an unidentified species of Tubifex worm''
  • ''a disorganized mass of bones and dry tissue''

Afterwards you make explode the C4 you just planted and just before entering the next room the flashback ends.


Red Carrion 2nd Flash-back at The Derelict
The second flash-back begins right where the first one finished. Your human team ventures deeper and deeper in the facility only to make very concerning discoveries:

the remains of a poor fellow with ''cause of death: massive head trauma''
and even deeper in the facility, close by a red water pool, ''calcified remains of a Cyclopean entity of unknown origin''

In order to continue, you go down to ''pick up the lever rod'' and after pulling the barricade and repaired the lever with a missing rod you can continue.
Here my thoughts are that someone removed the rod to not-let anyone find the biomass behind the heavily closed door - or maybe something (nemesis dark carrion?... all in all the rod is found by another red water pool with dark crystallized organic-ish coal) removed it to be the only powerful being out in the open.

When your human ''collects samples'', you go back controlling your red carrion.


Red Carrion 3rd Flash-back at The Derelict
The last red carrion flash-back starts right where you found the red biomass... except there is no red biomass, the drone is gone and two of the three humans are dead.
Now you impersonate the red carrion with full abilities and the evolved form of ''Parasitism''.

You follow the way upstairs finding various cells... were they containing humans as guinea pigs, or something else?

The first door is locked and you must pick up the key some floors above to open it and take the stun gun. You hit and disengage the first sentinel and open the door on your right.
After unchaining the two inactive sentinels the following door will let you continue until you take a breath of fresh air.

It's night and you are free for the first time in who knows how long.
You walk on to get in the middle of what must be either the rescue team (if the previous team managed to send an S.O.S.) or the actual team that is there to take control of the situation.

To be noted that the second helicopter you find is the same one on which the previous team landed and it is not manned anymore, furthermore you can see inside blood patterns on the windows.
So, when the red biomass took control of one of the men, was it also able to split itself in a second smaller carrion and went to the helicopter knowing from the memories of the possessed man? At the helicopter it couldn't have done anything because of the guard (android ? - half man, half mech) who wasn't fully human, so the smaller carrion stayed trapped there, not knowing how to fly. Then the bigger team arrives and takes down the smaller carrion, afterwards trapped in the Anomalous Materials Vault - this smaller carrion managed to escape later on - this is just another theory.


The drone identifies you - is it the same drone? - for what you really are, and the guards take you down.

BSL-4 Research Ward part 1
CARRION starts with you breaking out of the containment unit.

Just head through the only open pipes and passages available and read the various tool-tips teaching you the basics of how to play - as ''consume humans to regain biomass and grow in size -enjoy and earn your first achievement ''Flesh of Prey''.



On the right-most room enter and pull the switch in order to open the gate above.
Later save the game by spreading your biomass on the very first hive on the top right part.



Now squeeze in the portal and go on the next area: Frontier - Wastelands, part 1, congratulations you made it through the tutorial and earned the achievement ''It's Alive!''.


Frontier - Wastelands part 1 and Military Junkyard
At the moment in the Frontier - Wastelands, you can only go to your right and top side, slide down and dive in the water, once at the bottom continue to the left and up - follow the tunnel until you reach a switch, pull it and the door below will open.



Go deeper following the only tunnels and exits available until you reach a black viaduct where you must squeeze in. This viaduct will take you to the Military Junkyard.

Wiggle your way to the right and pull the lever to open the door below, squeeze in the tunnels and air-vents, reach another lever that you pull to open the door in front.

Kill the armed human ahead and just after you find your first hive where you save and spread your biomass. Another path opens up ahead, wiggle on and kill the armed human - after go down below where you shred the two armed humans in a bigger room (there are grids on the right and a locked door with a switch behind)!



Follow the air-vent down on the right of the screen and take care of the two armed men, spread biomass in the hive crack at the bottom right.

To our left you find your first tube to be smashed to pieces, squeeze in and get ''Arachnoptysis'' DNA, hence ''shoot a cobweb to trap your victims or interact with objects''. Follow the vents on the left up and shoot you cobweb to interact with the lever on the up-right part. The door will open and you can just follow the air-duct above.



You are back in the previous bigger room, follow the pipe up-right and shoot again your cobweb down through the grids to the switch to open the door on the right.



Continue onto the next room and reduce to shred the four armed men, proceed on the next screen going always right, get past the elevator, take care of the man ahead and pull the lever that will open both the gate just above the elevator towards the exit and the gate below the room where you found previously the two armed humans.

Go back past the elevator to your left until you are in the bigger room on the left, go down below and eat the two harmless men - spread your biomass in the hive crack.

Now you have spread your biomass through all three hives, the exit portal of the Military Junkyard opens - down below is a no-go, so go back up above the elevator and enter the exit portal to the Frontier - Wasteland part 2.



You just earned the achievement ''Machines can Expire Too''.


Frontier - Wastelands part 2 and Uranium Mines
Once out of the Military Junkyard, in another part of the Frontier - Wasteland (part 2) proceed to the left and wiggle down until you are in a bigger cave with a metallic door in the middle and a water pool on the bottom left. Enter the big door and relive your first flash-back memory situated in another facility, the ancient derelict. Congratulations you just earned the Achievement ''The Derelict''.
After this sequence, reincarnate your mass of worms and go to the upper right side of the cave - find a closed door and a switch, pull the switch and open the door and save (if you want) where you spread your worms before.



Now go down below following the path until in your screen you have a grid, a lever and a closed door - shoot your cobweb through the grid to the lever and open the door. Enter the black viaduct and... welcome Uranium Mines.



Follow the only path available in the depths below, kill the first human and shred the other three harmed men, before heading onto the next screen to the right. Along the way you will find plenty of wooden barricades you cannot go through. continue to go on below untill you find a cross way, go left, spread your biomass in the hive crack. Afterwards go deeper below from the cross way.

In this long room you have to fight five men with pistol, who are trying to take you down... show them!
On the right hand side of this long room there is a Relith sign indicating a containment unit, ignore it for now and proceed your way up.



Here you fight one armed man and eat two harmless people. Slide your way up again and follow the mine tunnels until you have another cross way, killed the ''bad'' man. Go right and save by spreading your worms in the crevice. From the cross way proceed up.



Here you have one switch that opens the door on the left and two guards (androids) behind it. Make a plan on how to kill them. Continue to the left and break in the containment unit to absorb the DNA ''Xiphorrea'', a powerful skill that allows the player to ''damage vent covers and wooden walls'', now you slash enemies, too. Save your progress inserting your blood worms in the crevice on your left.



The exit portal is now available to use, do practice some of your new ability and go on to the next stage by exiting the portal. Congratulations, you just earned the achievement ''Claustrophobia''.



Frontier - Wastelands part 3 and Hazardous Waste landfill
After the mines, you appear once again in the Frontier Wastelands - a third zone.
Proceed to your left and remove the four armed men with the help of your newly acquired ''Xiphorrea''. Wiggle on to the next screen to the left.

Here, on your way up, take care of two armed men and two android guards, careful as they have electric shields and automated rifles.
Once at the top, before going up to the next screen, replenish your life bar by devouring the five harmless humans you see on the left.



In the next screen you find yourself with the Military Junkyard on your right (this is the right way to proceed in the game).



If you want, you can get right now one containment unit, however you can get them all when you finish the game - so you can skip this part and go to the next zone.
Go down below in the cave of the big metallic door in the middle and go right and up, follow the path on the right, go down below (a hive is on your right) - when you see another hive, a grid and a used lever, now go upwards. You'll find a cave with some water, keep going up until you are in a cave with stairs and one used lever, now go right and you can use your ability ''Xiphorrea'' to break the barricade in front of the Relith sign. Go below and in the ''very moist'' cave enter the door and absorb the DNA ''Polycheiria'' and ''grow a second prehensile tentacle'' from the ''Containment Unit No. 2''. For finding your first containment unit, you earned the achievement ''One Monster, One Jar''.


Squeeze in the Military Junkyard and drop down below, at the elevator go left and in the bigger room go down below left-hand side (a hive is on your right).



Smash the wooden barricade with ''Xiphorrea'' and welcome to the ''Hazardous Waste Landfill'' - go right and smash some more barricades, as you can see in the next screen, in this area there is only one hive in need of activation for the exit portal to work. Continue your way down. Eat two humans, squeeze in the door and devour other three humans... o.m.g. is a feast!



In this puzzle you get in the vent of the upper left that takes you to the right, get past a grid, smash some barricades on the way, but you cannot shoot a cobweb anymore because your carrion is bigger. Follow the vent on the right that takes you below in an amniotic red liquid. Deposit you biomass. Now you can shoot the cobweb, go back upwards using the vent and get above the grid, shoot your cobweb to move the lever and the door that was closed is now open.
Retrieve your biomass and enter the door that wasn't available before.



Your next move is smashing the barricade and spreading your biomass in the crevice, the created hive will activate the exit portal and create a new path up. Follow the path upwards and remove off your way two androids.



Enter the door nearby the Relith sign, kill two humans and absorb DNA ''Echolocation'' from Containment Unit No. 1, you can now ''locate edible corpses'' - I don't leave any, so I don't use it. From where the two androids are, proceed left and upward in order to squeeze in the exit portal from the Hazardous Waste Landfill to the Frontier - Wasteland, its fourth and very small zone.
Very well, you earned the achievement ''Intoxication''.



Frontier - Marshlands part 1
After exiting the Hazardous Waste Landfill into the tiny fourth part of the Frontier - Wasteland, slide upwards, left and all the way up again - you are already in the first area of the Frontier - Marshlands.

At a certain place, you will have a pool of amniotic fluid on your right, an electrical panel in front, a black viaduct and two lasers on the left - continue up and left, ignore the black viaduct as the door will block it as soon as you touch one laser, the switch on the left will activate the lasers and open the door. You have to squeeze in the left upper vent.



In the next screen make your way down, all doors are closed and a sentinel is trying to take you down, be quick and it will be brief. Now the door below will open to a bigger and deeper cave with water, grids and closed doors. Enter the big metallic door in the middle of the cave and relive your second memory of the derelict, once terminated get back being the carrion and you just earned the achievement ''The Perfect Organism''.



The bottom left door in the water unlocks, and you make your way to the Botanical Gardens.



Botanical Gardens and Frontier - Marshlands part 2
Once finished the flash-back, swim down to the left where there was the closed door. The Botanical Gardens are below, but there is a locked door below. Further on the left there is also a lever behind a grid and another locked door, and on your right where you came from an amniotic fluid pool. Deposit you biomass, so you can shoot your cobweb through the grid and engage the switch. Now the locked door before the grid opens and the door behind you closes. Proceed, kill the couple humans out, the couple humans inside each door and have enough biomass to smash the barricade with ''Xiphorrea'' and enter the black viaduct that will take you to the Botanical Gardens.



You'll be in a huge room with all doors locked, go right where the laser is and upwards, there is a lever on the left and a door on the right (in there you find amniotic fluid pool and electrical panel, we'll get back to it later) - pull the switch to open the left door in the huge room.



Wiggle your worms to the left and fight one armed man and an automated rifle android in the following screen. Drop down below and in this screen fight two armed men and two androids. Pull the switch and unlock the door below. Continue on your way down until you find another crevice where you set your next hive.



Follow the path to the right, leading you to a screen with water pool at the bottom and two android equipped with flamethrowers. Make sure you roast them and not viceversa. Feed on three ''lambs'' behind the door. Climb up and pull the next lever, now the top right door from the huge room has opened... also three dangerous sentinels have been released. Go upwards and take care of them to open that door right up once again.



Crawl all the way up to the next screen where two flamethrower androids attempt to your life, give them what they ask and continue up, pull the lever, open the door and nest in the next hive. Continue crawling to the right and top side of the cave - ignore the laser and the door connected to it for now.

Once in the following screen, get rid of the android and prepare to solve the puzzle. Down on the left there is an electrical panel and an amniotic fluid pool. Further left there is a lever to be pulled instead, this will activate the laser and open the door in the left adjacent room. Drop your biomass in the amniotic fluid until you are that small carrion again. On the upper right side of the screen there is a closed door and a lever behind grids, shoot your cobweb to open the right door and close the one behind you. Crawl to you right and go down below where a containment unit awaits you, break it and get ''Photokinesis'' DNA - the ability to ''bend light to create an invisibility cloak, it requires energy to use.''



The door to your left where you came from, is now shut. but below on your left there is an electrical panel and a switch, recharge your energy at the electrical panel and pull the switch to activate the laser and open the door. Elude the laser with the newly acquired skill and proceed, open the left door with the lever below you and continue to your left until you find a laser you activated previously by pulling the lever you see on the right. Drop your biomass in the previous screen, if you need to use ''Photokinesis'' and get past the laser. Crawl down to the right below and activate the exit portal by spreading your biomass in the next crevice.



Drop down. In this section you have on the right an electrical panel and amniotic fluid. Kill three androids and two armed men and proceed to the vent below.

In the next room enter the black door to see a switch, an amniotic fluid pool and an electric panel. Recharge and deposit your biomass if needed. This switch if pulled, will activate the laser and open the door right next the exit portal. Exit the black door, and go down below to the left, elude the laser with ''Photokinesis'' and enter the portal to the second area of the Frontier - Marshlands.
Congratulations for the achievement ''There's Something in Those Trees''.



Pull the lever to open the door above you and go to the right in the vent by the amniotic fluid back in the water. Continue up-right in the next vent to appear in the big and deep cave full of water with the metallic door in the middle - crawl back out of the water above the metallic door and to the right of the ex-sentinel small door. This path leads you to the area with the black viaduct, two lasers, a switch, an electric panel and the amniotic fluid. Drop your biomass in the amniotic fluid on the right in order to use ''Photokinesis'', pull the switch on the left that will open the door to the viaduct and activate the lasers. Elude the lasers with ''Photokinesis'' and enter the viaduct to the ''Leviathan Reef Base''.

Leviathan Reef Base and Frontier - Marshlands part 3
Once in the Leviathan Reef Base, drop down and swim to your right, go up through the vent and kill the human, the armed man and two androids. On your right you have - starting from top: a pool with amniotic fluid, a closed door with a switch behind, another closed door below. Pull the only switch you can reach and open the lower door.



Swim to the next screen and fight off three armed men. Destroy the two wooden barricade with ''Xiphorrea'', now go left, pull the lever to open the door and deposit your biomass above. Go back where you smashed the wooden barricades and shoot your cobweb through the grid to the lever in order to open the door right above you. Fight again one armed man and the android with automated rifle. Squeeze in the black door and down the vent.



In this screen kill two androids and one armed man, on your right there is an electrical panel and below the vent you'll squeeze down you'll find another Relith sign - ignore it for now and swim to your left.

Get past two grids, enter the only vent and pull the switch to open the locked door below, proceed that direction. Now save by spreading your biomass and take care of two androids and one armed guy - an electrical panel is on your left, the exit portal above (you can't reach it) and you proceed though the vent on your right.



Next screen is a cross way: left vent where you came from, right vent, grid below and open way above (but the latter will take you to a ''cul-de-sac'' with a grid at the end, you can't use right now).
From the cross way go right and enter the vent. Follow the tunnel to the right into a crevice where you nest your next hive - the exit portal is now two third open - this hive will also create an opening to the room below where you have to fight a sentinel in order to open the door below and continue.



Next you have to fight two androids and two armed men, and to kill brutally two harmless scientists.
You can only go left in the vent after breaking the barricades.
Congratulations! Swim to and smash the containment unit to absorb ''Hydrophilia'' DNA, hence ''morph into a swarm of worms and pass through tight spots''. You can now go up splicing through the grid above. Swim all the way up going through other three grids and go in the vent above.



Here you'll find two locked doors (one of which has another door and a man behind) and a crack above where you can spread your biomass. Spreading will create a fully open exit portal and an opening until the vent on the left, use such vent.



Here you must fight your first dreadnought (a mechanical heavy war-machine manned by either man or android) manned by a man. Once you are done with it, the door right and the one below will unlock allowing you to crawl down. The door right will take you back to where you nested last, so ignore it for now and go down.

You are in the water again, pass through the first grid and second grid below and enter the exit portal. Very good, you earned the achievement ''We Need to Go Deeper''.



You are back to the Frontier - Marshlands, but a third zone, pull the left lever and enter the vent, after unlocking the door. Now you are in the huge room with plenty of water below and in the middle you have the door of the 2nd flash-back. Dive in the water and swim through the grids on your left.
Resurface, devour two harmless technicians, pull the lever and open unlock the door to proceed right. Go up and eat some more - three men. Be careful and avoid the turret. Smash the barricade and go left until you can squeeze in the black viaduct that'll take you to Relith Science HQ.

Relith Science HQ
Welcome to Relith Science HQ! Crawl in the vent fo find yourself in a bigger environment. Dropped In here you have an amniotic pool the upper left part, a lever in the water behind a grid, a grid in the middle-right part of the screen. First go down and smash the wooden barricade behind the lever, second go up to drop your biomass, third go back and shoot your cobweb through the grid up-down.Doing so will lower the water below and raise it above. You can now swim through the grid with ''Hydrophilia'' and get in the right vent.



You crawl in a huge underground cave with two dreadnoughts behind locked doors. Fight four armed men and crawl your way to the right down door, in the first screen there are an android and a turret behind a locked door. Go down and right, while having a glimpse of the exit portal guarded by three androids, see an amniotic pool with a Relith sign and a plug next to it (ignore it) - enter the small room nearby, smash the android's head and pull the lever. The huge underground cave will unlock both doors at either side. It doesn't matter which way you are going first. Go right from the big cave.



In the next screen fight one android and two men, after save the game spreading you biomass in the crevice on the your right. Continue going up and in the following screen annihilate a total five scientists and five androids, towards the top there is a locked door on the left and a vent going up behind a barricade. Crawl your way up and spread your biomass again to create a passage. Follow the pipes down.



Next you are in front of a cross way, go left and up above through a vent or go down below. On the left there is a closed door with one android and two men behind. Below there is a lever behind two grids and further a hive crevice, push the lever if you can shoot your cobweb, otherwise make your way up (you'll see another lever that will let you access the amniotic fluid pool above) to deposit your biomass in order to shoot the cobweb and go down below again.
Once you push the lever, at the previous cross way the door unlocks, but two lasers activate, use the ''Photokinesis'' to elude the laser and go left to fight the android and eat the two men. Push the lever and disengage the lasers. Make your way below. Save the game in the next crevice you find and continue going down where you have a locked door below and two switches guarded by an armed man. Kill the man and pull both switches. The door below will unlock you, the dreadnought door will release it and one of the two doors at the bottom of the huge cave will also open. Fight now the dreadnought in the huge cave and immediately after, take the path on the left above the other still locked dreadnought.


Here kill two men, smash the wooden barricade on your left and spread your biomass, now the exit portal is completely open and you have to find a way to reach it - you have still to unlock the other door at the bottom of the huge cave. Crawl up, you can see the city buildings outside the windows.
Smash two sentinels in order to proceed upwards, continue and murder four scientists - a locked door is on the right, but you will go up in the vent.



On the right there is a locked door and a switch behind, shoot your cobweb to unlock the door, otherwise up-right you'll find the same amniotic pool of before where you can deposit biomass.



With the opened door, go down below, kill two androids and four men with pistols. Drop down again. Pull the switch, open the doors and save - just in case - at the hive. Go down below and pull two switches that will unlock the last locked door at the bottom of the cave, the locked door just below you and the dreadnought cage. Shred the dreadnought and make your way below the two unlocked doors.



In the next room below, kill the android and the three armed men, pull the switch on the right in order to open the door at the bottom - bring your red worms to the right passage. Pull another switch and squeeze in the next containment unit to absorb ''Parasitism'' - a really cool DNA feature that allows you to'' assume direct control of other organisms.''
Well... test it on the armed guinea pig right above, pull the switch and crawl left.



From the huge room where you fought the dreadnoughts, take the exit on your right at the bottom. You were here before, but without ''Parasitism'' - the room has a locked door behind which there is an android, a turret, an armed man by a switch. Go through the grid with your parasite and infest the android when the turret is not looking, shoot with your automated rifle the armed man and pull the switch in order to de-activate the turret and open the door.



Drop down on your right and here you are fighting three androids by the exit portal. Use ''Parasitism'' to control one of the dead androids to unlock the door by the switch. Go back down with your carrion and exit Relith Science HQ to the Frontier Marshlands, the fourth of its area.
Well, you earned ''Stakeholder Meating'' as achievement.

Frontier - Marshlands part 4 and Leviathan Reef Base - Bridge
From the Frontier - Marshlands, being in front of the portal to the Relith Science HQ, go left and pull the switch to open the locked door below and raise the water level in the cave already full of water - the one with the metallic door of the second flash-back. You will now be able to splice through the upper right grid in the water with ''Hydrophilia'' and enter the Leviathan Reef Base once again, the only difference from before is that now you have the ability ''Parasitism''.



From the entrance follow the vents first down and then right, at the cross way go all the way up where behind two grids and a closed door there is man. Use ''Parasitism'' and find yourself behind the locked door, now enter the only available door.



Welcome to the Leviathan Reef Base - Bridge. Go to the right and pull the lever to open the door, but if this door opens the right most door closes, and viceversa - so go back to deposit your biomass at the entrance, now pull the lever, enter between the two doors and shoot your cobweb from the grids to open the right most door. Proceed to the right.



In this room use your ''Parasitism'' to control the android and raise the water level by pulling the switch, so you can pass through the grid using ''Hydrophilia'', go al the way to the right, and pull yourself the second switch, water level lowers and right door opens, go above to pull the third switch and unlock the upper door. Go back down again, use ''Parasitism'' to control the android and pull the first switch again to raise the water level. Pass through the grids and make your way up.



At this point absorb the DNA ''Acanthosis'' that ''grows hundreds of deadly keratin spikes and requires energy to use''. Replenish your energy from the electric panel and use ''Xiphorrea'' on the upper barricade. Next save by spreading your biomass in the right crevice and open the exit portal. Take care of the three men and three armed men on the left, have a break with good food.



Next screen on the right has a challenge with four androids, kill at least the three downstairs to be able to proceed by unlocking the door at the bottom.
Go down below and enter the exit portal.
Congratulations, you earned the achievement ''Water Under the Bridge''.

Frontier - Highlands part 1 and Nuclear Power Plant
Upon exiting the Leviathan Reef base -Bridge, you enter the first section of the Frontier -Highlands. Go to the right until you reach a black metallic door, enter and relive your third and last memory of when you were captured. Once the flash-back ends and you are back in the Highlands, you earn the achievement ''Get to the Choppa!''.



From here you can see the upper right door unlocks, proceed to that direction going up and enter the second black viaduct that you find. You are now in the Nuclear Power Plant.
Crawl right and eat the two people by the generator, on its left you can see the exit portal. Continue to the right, eat other two men, kill three armed men, three other people and one android. Now that the area is cleared, proceed to the left where you smash the wooden barricade.

In the next room use ''Xiphorrea'' to unplug the tap and go down below, use ''Xiphorrea'' again on the right plug and crawl deeper until you reach an amniotic fluid pool. Go right from here by unplugging a third tap. Pull the switch in order to open the door on your right and and also close the door immediately below. Further on the right you have two levers behind two grids each, you can only push the lever below and in order to do so, you go back at the amniotic pool and deposit your biomass, then shoot your cobweb to that lever and the door below will unlock. Proceed down below.
Now crawl up in the vent and again down in another vent. Spread your biomass in the crevice on the right. This will create a tunnel below. Kill the android, two armed guys and three people. Happily proceed down to the left where two more androids and one man with pistol await. Pull the lever on the left in order to open the locked door above.



Crawl your way up right, squeezing in the vent, from here you have a locked door on the right a wooden barricade above between grids and a plug on the left: smash the barricade above and go left unplugging the tap and breaking another wooden barricade, on the left remove another plug and deposit a second biomass in the left pool. Now go upwards on the right between the upmost grids and shoot your cobweb to push the lever that will open the door above - kill the two civilians and the armed man below the electric panel. Go on right. Pull the lever to open the door and spread your biomass in the water below.



Continue in the right vent and through two grids to come out in a cave half filled with water where an armed man and two androids with flamethrowers try to roast you. Fry them and pull the lever in order to open the door below on the right. Swim right, unplug a tap and take a vent upwards.



In order to proceed you have to solve a puzzle: the biggest room stays on the right and it's full of water - it has a locked door on its right and two rooms on its left. Go to the one at the top, go further left and kill the android. Crawl more to the left and deposit you biomass in the amniotic pool next screen. Go back to where you killed the android and now shoot a cobweb to the switch below the grids, this will open the door below. There is another switch further left, take the android by that lever (do not pull the switch yet). Good! Now go back to the room filled with water and enter the left inferior room and from the grids take control of the android with ''Parasitism''. Now you can pull the switch, remove the water from the big room and unlock the right most door. go right and up following the pipe. Save by spreading your biomass.



Continue left and kill three men with pistols in the following room. Make your way up and remove two armed men and a sentinel in order to unlock the left door. Mind the turret and shred another armed guy - take the vent on the left to go down.



Eat the scientist and absorb the ''Harpagorrhea'' DNA - now you can ''send out a destructive vortex of sarcous harpoons and pull objects upon retracting the tentacle''.
Remove the plug on the right using the new ability. Proceed and destroy the barricade to go down in the vent and soon remove the plug below with ''Harpagorrhea''. Drop down in a familiar amniotic pool, deposit once biomass and use ''Xiphorrhea'' to unplug a second tap on the right - now go back down and devour your biomass, go back up and use ''Harpagorrhea'' to unplug the third obstacle. Fit in the vent and go up where you can remove another plug to avoid the previously met turret. On the left use ''Harpagorrhea'' on the plug and drop below where you can spread your biomass in the crevice. The exit portal is now open.


Make your way down with ''Harpagorrhea'' and be ready to engage two dreadnoughts. The door door will unlock after the dreadnoughts are destroyed. Follow the passage to the left and take out of your way two armed man. Pull the switch below the reactor that will reveal the atomic core, which you will take to the nuclear reactor that'll open the door.


In this room you can replenish your energy at the electric panel and go left (not up and left - that's the exit, just left) where you'll find another core by pulling the switch. Now, from the previous room go up left and insert the core in the reactor, the door will open and you can be on your way to the Frontier - Highlands, second part.
You just earned the achievement ''Ionized''.

Frontier - Highlands part 2 and Armored Warfare Facility
From the Nuclear Power Plant you appear in the second part of the Highlands, after removing the left plug, crawl to the left and in the next screen go down to the right. You'll find yourself in the room where you had you third flash-back - from here go upwards to the right and in this screen unplug the obstacle with ''Harpagorrhea'', dive and enter the black viaduct. You are now in the Armored Warfare Facility.
From this hive move upwards killing two androids using the environment to your advantage. At the top of the screen there is a switch you have to pull to activate the elevator up. From here enter the door by the elevator and pull another switch just below the electric panel - this will unlock the door at the bottom right next to your hive. Proceed right down.
From here kill three humans and crawl up after attempting to satiate your hunger. Destroy the barricade right to the electric panel and move rightwards.
Next screen is a huge room built with four floors, top two floors have two armed men and one android with automated rifle each, bottom floor has two armed men and the second-to-the-bottom floor one turret by a door (there is a switch in that room that deactivate the turret), one android and an armed man. On the right next to this room you can see the exit portal and below you have an amniotic fluid pool in case you feel to deposit your biomass for better movement and change fighting style. Plan ahead to clear the whole room.
Afterwards, use ''Xiphorrhea'' to unplug the obstacle next to the pipe above and right the exit portal - deposit the biomass in the pool below or go back to the first hive if you don't have enough mass and have eaten everyone already. Crawl right in the pipe and spread in the crevice your biomass. Move right again.
In the next screen you have four water pools below you: the first takes you back and forth to an amniotic pool, the second is useless, the third has a switch below a grid and the fourth is also useless. Assuming you have ten blocks of biomass and can use ''Xiphorrhea'', go to the first pool and deposit biomass in order to use ''Arachnoptysis'' for shooting the web down to the switch in the third pool. Good, you just opened the door on the right and and continue going up in the pipe.
Next room is a big one, with four caged dreadnoughts, and a security system that unleashes four drones you must take down (shoot cobweb constantly at them and it'll be child's play - you must be in the five-biomass-block). Once the drones are destroyed, the door above the room will unlock and you move upwards.
Next room you find is behind two grids, leaving you no choice but to use ''Parasitism'' and the scientist below. Pull the switch to open the door and with the same man enter the dreadnought, there at your disposal.
Once you are in the dreadnought (before hitting the glasses below or advance further), destroy the other dreadnought on the opposite side, then kill two androids above and two androids below along with two people. Afterwards go back being the red carrion. and proceed left.
In the next screen, spread your worm nest in the crevice - to the left there is an amniotic pool and further an electric panel. Crawl up.
Next room is made by an annoying turret and four androids. There is a plug you can unplug on the left using ''Xiphorrhea''. Plan ahead, deposit mass if needed. After clearing, on the left, drop down below - here you pull a switch located on the right after killing two armed men and see that two doors unlock, while the other two lock (protecting three humans and three armed men from your hunger), make your way down and have a snack on the drowned bodies on the left ( * curiosity). Continue down.
In the next screen you have to kill and android to open the door below you and the door located at the bottom left of the huge room heavily armed you found at the beginning... very casually you can take the lift just below your position now in order to go there. First kill the armed guy and pull the switch to activate the elevator. Continue down below.
In this part you have an amniotic fluid pool below the elevator shaft, crawl to the left, make a third nest in the crevice further left and get past the water grid with ''Hydrophilia'', deactivate the first turret on the right by pulling the switch right next to it. Crawl upwards and deactivate the second turret pulling the switch on the left. Use ''Xiphorrea'' to go through the wooden barricade and down left.
In the next screen you are in front of a cross way, go straight left and blow up thanking an automatic bomb or go upwards. Go up and make the crevice your fourth worm nest - this will create a way down to the black door, enter the door, replenish your energy from the left electrical panel and of course absorb from the unit the DNA ''Keratosis'' which ''grow a thick and strong layer of keratin using energy''.
Go back where the automatic explosive is and get past it using ''Keratosis''.
In the next screen you'll be in a tight room with two dreadnoughts (an electrical panel is at the entrance and another on the bottom left below glasses). You have to fight the two dreadnoughts to unlock the right door at the top, save the game going right and proceed up again from that room.
Next room is inhabited by two technicians, devour them, replenish your energy from the electrical panel and use the explosive with ''Keratosis'' to blow up the obstacle in the ceiling. Make your way up, eat again three humans going right and four armed men, on the left-hand side of this screen there is an electrical panel and a crevice where you can spread you biomass in. Continue right.
Pull the switch to open the door on your right and go on that direction - you are back in the same area when you first arrived the Armored Warfare Facility. So, you have ''Keratosis''... continue right and upwards, take the lift and upstairs enter the first door on your left if you don't have enough energy and replenish your level - then, using ''Hydrophilia'' get past the aquatic grid and with ''Keratosis'' protect yourself from the explosive, enter the second door and deactivate the automatic bomb (there is an amniotic pool also if you want to drop some biomass, after the elevator on the left of the outside switch, you'll find some new challenges up ahead.
In this big screen you have three areas:
-one on the extreme left accessible with ''Xiphorrhea'' and with only one android;
-one in the middle guarded by four androids and two guards - here there is a switch on the right that unlocks the door on the right top of the security system room and deactivate the security system alike.
-one on the right guarded by a security system of six drones and two sentinels that activate if you touch one of the two lasers.
The easiest way (in my opinion) is to have enough biomass to use ''Xiphorrhea'' on the plug immediately above the elevator, then use ''Parasitism'' on the android, ride the dreadnought, break the glasses and get rid of the other four androids and two guards on the right - pull the switch afterwards.
The other plan is to go mindlessly in the crowd, activate the security system and get rid of drones, sentinels and androids and guards - pull the switch to open the door.
Another plan is to go stealth with ''Photokinesis'' until the switch and go back straight to the top right door.Well... once you are done and the top right door open, move right, shred the guard, save and spread your biomass to open the exit portal - don't forget to pull the switch in order to open the door on your right; actually it'll open the two doors on your right in a horizontal line and close the other two doors in a vertical line.
It will continue to ''Armored Warfare Facility and Frontier - Highlands part 3''.

Armored Warfare Facility and Frontier - Highlands part 3
It continues from the ''Frontier - Highlands part 2 Armored Warfare Facility''.

You almost made it through, go right past the doors, kill two armed man, one ''Relith civilian'' and two androids. Crawl down below.
In this room there is an electric panel, an automatic bomb, one sentinel to be taken down and four ''pieces'' of live and raw meat. After the sentinel is out of your way and your energy is full, use ''Keratosis'' - with the bomb attached - on the obstacle at the bottom.



Drop down below with your energy replenished at the electrical panel and, with the bomb attached, remove the obstacle below to free the way to the exit portal and the other obstacle on the right.
Before going down below to the exit portal, get to the containment unit no. 8 on the right - enter the door with the Relith sign nearby and enter it, then absorb the DNA ''Electrosis'' to increase your maximum energy level''.
Now go back to the left to the exit portal to the third area of the Frontier - Highlands. Congratulations! You earned the achievement ''War... War Never Changes''.



From these Highlands go upwards and rightwards, replenish your energy from the electrical panel and elude the automatic bomb system below using ''Keratosis'' - by doing so you may also break the obstacle on the right just in front of the black viaduct - if you don't destroy the obstacle pull the switch and deactivate the bomb system to go back and replenish your energy in order to try again.
Enter the black viaduct and welcome to the Bunker!

Bunker: 1st Part
Say hello to the Bunker, a long and extensive cave and tunnel system. From the main room where you come from (drop from up above), enter the only door in the room center - but first drop all your biomass in the amniotic fluid at the bottom right in order to use ''Photokinesis and replenish your energy at the electrical panel on the bottom left of the room.



Once inside the door, you see the disengaged exit portal, move to the right and elude the laser with ''Photokinesis'', and go down below the elevator shaft pulling the switch by it. Eliminate the android and using your cobweb, push the switch below two grids on the left - now the left elevator will go up.
At this moment make your way down, take care of another android by the nuclear generator and continue your way rightwards and down below again.



Now you may notice three glasses below three grids and under there is a switch to be pushed. Follow the piping tunnels, get past an electric panel and next screen you'll find an android behind some grids. Control the android with ''Parasitism'', shoot the glasses on the right with your automated rifle and jump down; run left and pull the switch to open the door on your left. Now shoot again left and upwards all three glasses below the grids (don't forget the glass above the switch). Excellent - take back your red carrion and back to the three grids, shoot your cobweb to push the switch below and so activate its left elevator to go up. Now go up and take the left vent, move below the elevator and spread your worms in the crevice to your left, you will also regenerate some biomass you lost and remove off your way two wooden barricades right of the crevice. Crawl all the way right where there is a closed door and take the upper right pipe.



Next room has two ''civilians'' to be devoured and three guards to be fleshed out. Also the door below between two locked gates has a Relith sign by it. Pull the right switch for the generator to show the nuclear core, take the core with you. Don't forget to crawl in the door where containment unit no. 9 awaits you: it's DNA ''Polycheiria'' and you gotta ''grow a third prehensile tentacle''.



Now go all the way back where the nuclear generator stands still and activate it with the core you just took. As soon as the core is in, from the main central cave all doors will unlock. Back and from the main cave-room you can choose any of the four paths ahead:
-Bunker - Caverns on the bottom left side;
-Bunker - Jungle Outpost on the top left side;
-Bunker - Excavation Site;
-Bunker - Pier.



Let's first go to the Caverns with the final form with ''Harpagorrhea'' and ''Keratosis''. Swim through the grid thanks to ''Hydrophilia'', then go down below and with ''Keratosis'' avoid the bomb blast. Take the vent below going down.
In this room take care of one armed man and a harmless man, enter the door to the other left side and kill the android, after go in the left vent. You make your appearance in a big cave with water at the bottom. In this cave you have to fight off four androids (two with flamethrower and two with rifles) and one sentinel. Once you destroy the sentinel, the gate above at the top will unlock.



After you are out of danger, before going upwards, have a look a this cavern as you have a puzzle to solve. On the top right side there is a pushed lever behind a grid (not accessible at the moment), on the bottom left there is an amniotic fluid pool and on the top right (behind a locked door and a grid) an armed man guarding a switch and an electric panel.
Go upwards, spread more worms in the crevice you find and go right; you will be in the water again and with no energy you can only enter the vent on your left (there is a bomb system on the right).
You find yourself in the big cavern again, but on the other side of the grid and next to the lever, pull the lever to close the door above and raise the water level in the cavern, letting you use ''Hydrophilia'' to go through the grids in the upper left area of the cave. Kill the guard, replenish your energy level at the electric panel and flip the switch to open the door below you. The door above up in the cavern is still locked, so go at the amniotic fluid pool and drop enough biomass to be able to shoot the cobweb through the grid and push the lever to open the upper central door and lower the water level. Go back to the fluid pool and devour your biomass; you have now full mass and full energy. Go up again, save and go right, swim through the grid and resist the bomb with ''Keratosis'', swim right in the right vent back in the main Bunker by the electrical panel. Let's proceed.


The entrance to the Jungle Outpost in the upper left part of the main cave - first you go to the lower right part of this main cave in order to drop some biomass and be able to use ''Xiphorrhea''. Go to the Jungle Outpost, use ''Xiphorrhea'' to unplug the tap below the locked door and proceed to the left. In this jungle cave you must fight four androids equipped with flamethrowers... water is at the bottom just in case. Then continue upwards and squeeze in the door to go on the other side of the old building.



Plan ahead, because you must win against one dreadnought and six armed men in this old building cave. There are two locked doors on the right, that will open once you destroy the four drones after the security systems is activated. Go past the door on the upper right area.
In this smaller feed on four people and nest in the crevice at the bottom right, you also get back your biomass. Use ''Harpagorrhea'' to unplug the obstacle down in front of the vent below, Drop down. Here Unplug another obstacle on the right and flip the switch on the left to open the only door. Crawl in the vent to the right and you are back in the main Bunker cave.



It will continue to ''Bunker: 2nd Part''.




Bunker: 2nd Part
It continues from ''Bunker: 1st Part''.

Now you can go on the upper right area from the main cave and after crawling upwards you enter the Bunker - Excavation Site. Squeeze in the door to go to the excavation site and be ready to engage three androids (two flamethrowers and one rifle) and - if you activate the lasers - three sentinels at the same time. On the left there is an electric panel and on the right an amniotic fluid pool to remove the flames (this will very likely mean the sentinels are active). Once you are done enter the black door in the middle of the excavation site, or just be invisible and enter the door anyway. In this cave screen you are in a precarious position to start a fight versus four armed people - you can also see three harmless people (one more is below). Plan your strategy, the first door below you takes you to the other side where you can feed. On the right there is an electric panel, below between two levers there is a plug you must unplug with ''Harpagorrhea'' and even lower at the bottom there are two locked doors. You must be quick to pull the lever on the right and push the lever on the left by shooting cobwebs through the grid. Go back to deposit biomass in the pool and come back here to engage both levers at the same time. Both doors will unlock below and you can walk in the light leftwards - before spread your worms in the crevice and save, though, and an amniotic pool is on the right.



In the next screen you are in an old building along with three androids-flamethrowers donned and two dreadnoughts. Plan ahead and you will be fine. ''Parasitism'' on the android below, bring the android up next to the dreadnought, enter the door again and deposit you mass, come back and shoot the cobweb up through the grid to push the switch and open the door, giving an opening to the android you will control in the dreadnought and clear the area ahead on the right. ...Yes... I died plenty of times before that conclusion. Now that dreadnoughts are take care of, the door on your right will open and you can proceed right. Crawl right and upwards and nest again in the new crevice; follow the created path in the excavation site and go left down below back to the Bunker main cave.



From the main Bunker cave go to the bottom right path, just above the amniotic fluid pool. Continue right and enter the Bunker - Pier.
Your next challenge are four armed man and an android, protecting a locked door on the right. Crawl quickly in the pipe above these armed men until an electric panel and use ''Parasitism'' through the right grid on the android, put a bullet in everyone's head and go back to be yourself, the friendly carrion. The locked door to the pier in front of the ocean is shut, so dive deep down and use the vent on the left to access the next underwater cave. In this cave you have two ''normal people'', two armed men and two androids, flip both switches in the upper floor to activate two bomb systems below. In the same floor as the bomb systems there is also a blocked exit to the left. Use ''Parasitism'' on someone and with the bomb attached make them run to the exit left to break the obstacle. Flip both switches again to deactivate the bomb systems. Replenish you energy at the lower electric panel and continue left through the vent.



Here spread your biomass, save and activate the Bunker exit portal. At the top left there is an amniotic fluid pool, where you can choose whether to drop some weight or not - it much depends on your play-style for the next ''safe'' and challenging room that lays left ahead.
In the next screen you have an electric panel just near you behind the one-way-left-vent and a locked door above in the water. Proceed left - further left there is a switch below some grids - and be ready to engage one turret, two sentinels, four drones, one android and four people as a snack.
Choose the best plan for you and as soon as drones and sentinels are destroyed, the security system will let the door above open. So go right and swim upwards in the water, you will make your appearance in the main bunker cave room.
At this moment enter the central door and you are free to the outer Highlands, a fourth and last part of this area.
Very well, you earned the achievement ''4 8 15 16 23 42''.

Frontier - Highlands part 4
From the Bunker exit portal, in the fourth zone of the Highlands, go left and immediately downward.



First thing you see is black door in which there is a big technological room showing your progress through-out the game.

Now go to the right, the only path you have and... et voilà! You are at the first portal you found in-game, the BSL-4 Research Ward. You have all of you skills back this time, so enter the portal and go immediately left...

BSL-4 Research Ward part 2, Anomalous Materials Vault and the outer world... THE END... ?
Welcome back to the Research Ward, from the portal crawl to the left and unblock the vent on your left, use your mighty powers to smash to pieces the wooden barricade and continue left.

In this section you will be on a rampage shredding clueless scientists - some in hazmo-suits, some not - break glasses, squish in pipes, see the unit you broke out from. You will see a new and puzzling place: the Anomalous Materials Vault, from where you get back the final and unknown form of ''Parasitism'' and a glimpse of what else may have broken out of this high security facility.

Become ''human''-ish and breath fresh air in the outer world tricking the system. Have fun! It's been a great game. Achievement earned: ''The New Reality''.

...is it?


Armored Warfare Facility * curiosity
I thought worth mentioning that in the Armored Warfare Facility, just two screens below the sixth hive, there is a clear water pool room with a lever and two dead (drowned?) bodies, as soon as you smash the door open the lever flips down.

Obviously my amorphous creature fed after some shredding on these rotten meat...

  • But who or what left the two dead bodies in that room?

  • Did the same Relith corporation killed them because they insubordinated after knowing what Relith was doing?

  • Or was it a darker, unknown and more dangerous entity that used these two humans - scientists? - and after getting what it wanted, the entity got rid of them?
    I have two guesses:
    1. In fact there is a broken containment unit in the Anomalous Materials Vault, around this broken unit only dark crystals or calcified organic-ish substance can be found; and the dark-necro-ish misterious entity fled the facility through a longer and then quieter path not knowing where the closest exit was (just above). See Anomalous Materials Vault ** curiosity.
    2. There is a third unknown entity that walks the Relith facility at its own pace, sure and confident that no-one could identify it.


Anomalous Materials Vault ** curiosity at the end
Towards the ending, immediately after you revisit the BSL-4 Research Ward, you enter the Anomalous Materials Vault, at first you can see jars all around you, but are they containing something? And what are they full of?

Afterwards you find yourself in front of a broken containment unit surrounded by a different biome, a darker environment made of black organic-ish crystals (?) with white remains around and a tunnel on the right that you cannot fit in.

The glasses are intact, so the trapped entity must have dug its way out, maybe it went straight out in the open world...
or maybe whatever was inside the unit is still inside the unknown Relith facility, maybe it was it that killed or drowned the two people in the Armored Warfare Facility (* curiosity).
Maybe this thing has all its powers? Or does it need to recover them, because they were removed by the Relith scientists?
