Always bet on Duke & It's Better to be Emperor EASIEST GUIDE

How to get the Always bet on Duke achievement literally seconds into the game and how to get the "It's better to be emperor" achievement in under half an hour.

Where to start...and We're done

Step One: Choose the "Rise of the Hansa" date marker and then select the Byzantine empire. One of the Emperor's vassals is his son, who is currently a count. His name is Prince Theodoros and he is next in line to inherit the throne from his father.



Step Two: Play. Almost immediately you're father will grant you a duchy. So you're already got the "always bet on Duke" achievement and you haven't really done anything.
Step Three: Wait for your father to lose his war against the Huns. Obviously do nothing to help him while his army is getting decimated. You CAN skip this step, but it'll make your life easier if you don't

Now here are the three different ways you can become Byzantine Emperorer.

METHOD 1: The Waiting game. Your father is a fifty year old man...you are a 20 year old man who is next in line to inherit the throne. Obviously you should try and speed up the process if the opportunity presents itself, but just remember you don't need to rush this process and attempt the following 2 methods immediately. You can wait...and wait...and.then strike when a good enough opportunity presents itself...or don't. You've got time.

Now here's where the more veteran players can start trying to speed up the process by attempting to send their father to an early grave. Since Prince Theodoros's stats are randomized, you may find that you are able to start a faction to get your dad deposed if you're ambitious or get him assassinated if you've got great intrigue stats. However, if your Theodoros is a little on the weak side of things you can still speed up the inheritance process.

METHOD 2: WAR. If you've raised up enough coin and/or your father's armies are weak enough you can declare war on your dad for the title of emperor. Obviously, you're at an advantage if you have gotten a tithe from your steward or married to the Holy Roman Emperor's daughter and gotten a dowry, however the best skill to have is to be ambitious since that will allow you to start a faction and get your dad's vassal's on your side.

I'd recommend having 280 or so coins in the bank if you're going to hire a cheap mercenary company of about 4500 soldiers. You'll need to be able to crush stacks of 1400 soldiers while taking over your dad's holdings which have around 1500 soldiers. I recommend waiting for a few years. You can make a strong marriage alliance, but I recommend choosing the HRE's daughter so you can get that 40 gold coin bonus from marrying her.

METHOD 3: STABBY STABBY. Assasinate the bugger. You'll probably not get enough support initially to end your father's life, but you'll eventually get 450 coin saved up, at which point you should just roll the dice and try assassinating him. Of course, sometimes you'll get a good roll and be your father's spymaster and so this will happen.

just keep killling his new wives it works
on like the eith one i got unlucky and noone helped me but he had a daughter then died so i got the achievement by waiting and plotting on his wifes
for the plots i got excommunicated 4 times but my father unexcommunicated me back each time
