Intro

A concept character designed by Huke and used in a variety of music clips, anime, games and manga, Black Rock Shooter wields a katana-like sword and a massive cannon which can turn into a gatling gun to fight. While the character has had a variety of origins and abilities across its adaptations, this is specifically her Black Rock Shooter (TV) series iteration, in which she is the other self of young bleeding heart Mato Kuroi and fights others like her in a strange, desolate cognitive world. With superhuman strength, speed and endurace and a seemingly endless ammo reserve, does Black Rock Shooter have what it takes to dive into the world of RoA and survive? Subscribe and find out!

It also should be noted that BRS is intended to be a somewhat balanced character, with which one can face other fighters from the RoA cast in a fair and fun manner. I'll be constantly looking for player feedback in the comments/threads and updating her data to try and get as close to that goal as possible. Overview

Black Rock Shooter is a heavy-ish fighter with a wide variety of ranges in her attacks, from melee punches, kickes and sword swings up close to powerful cannon swings a little further away to projectile options that reach across the stage, you'll be hard-pressed to find a place completely safe from her attacks. She's also quite fast in the ground, can jump incredibly high and, althought she falls quickly, can keep herself in the air for quite some time through the use of special moves. To compensate for that, howerver, she has one of the worst aerial drift speeds in the cast and below average startup on most of her aerials, making her vulnerable against pressure and especially edgeguards.

Although BRS' kit has flexible reach overall, each individual move has an optimal distance to hit at, being far weaker outside of those ranges. It's all about figuring out where your opponent will be and acting accordingly, be it a DI mixup in the middle of a combo or trying to get that one good opening in neutral. Keep your game fresh and varied so your foes never get a read on you!

Move by move

-Jab
BRS' jab is simple 3-hit punch-kick-swing combo inspired by the likes of Ike in the Smash Bros series. Like most RoA jabs, the first two hits can be followed up with a tilt or dash attack instead of finishing the combo to extend your ground combos.

-Dash Attack
BRS slides across the floor, sweeping up any foes caught by her feet. A somewhat obvious option in neutral but one that can lead to devastating combos as you can preserve your momentum into your next move.

-Dtilt
This midrange sweep is a big disjointed attack with a tipper at the end of the cannon. Used to finish ground combos or edgeguard from the stage.

-Ftilt
A two-hit sword combo reminiscent of Meta Knight from the Smash Bros series, very fast but with short range. The second hit combos decently into aerials at early percents while the first hit can be followed up with a variety of moves and finishers once your enemy reaches higher percents.

-Utilt
A quick, strong and disjointed upwards swing, this move works as a reliable anti-air as well as a DI-dependant transition from ground to aerial combos at lower percents, even killing very late. Also picks up - most - characters from the ground.

-Dstrong
BRS fires straight down, covering herself in a small, but deadly hitbox that can be used to punish big mistakes on your opponent's part.

-Fstrong
BRS quickly fires three shots into the floor ahead, covering a lot of ground in disjointed hitboxes. Hard to punish and a very safe edgeguard or landing punish option, doesn't kill until at very high percents.

-Ustrong
A move very similar to Inkling's up smash in Smash Bros Ultimate, BRS scoops up the foe with a cannon swing and then fires a melee blast upward. This move will slide if used while dashing and can poke foes from under the lowest level platforms.

-Nair
BRS envelops herself in a cannon blast, sending opponents it hits with the front in a sharp angle. Her best landing option and a deadly edgeguarding tool, plus a few tricks up its sleeve if you master the use of its back region.

-Fair
This long-range cannon swing has an early and a late hitbox with different properties on each part. It's a very strong aggressive tool but has quite a bit of endlag on whiff, so be careful when throwing this out high in the air.

-Bair
BRS' chief kill move, this slow-ish attack has respectable range and kills early. Much like Ike's back air from smash bros it demands respect from anyone who's facing her backside. Just don't get too close or you'll get the sourspot hit!

-Uair
BRS' main combo tool in the air, this quick and wide sword swing can follow up into itself or into other aerials depending on your opponent's DI and set up for kills at the usual kill percents.

-Dair
BRS's only spike and her quickest aerial, this move has poor range and relatively weak knockback but can be absolutely deadly in the right hands.

-Nspecial
This chargeable move fires either one, three or a volley of bullets at your foe, each iteration becoming exponentiatly deadlier than the last but taking longer to charge. If you use this move in the air you'll fall slower, allowing you to spread out your bullets across multiple heights.

-Uspecial
A simple quick leap upwards. This move has no hitboxes but it does provide a bit of invulnerability on startup.

-Fspecial
BRS disappears, then swings forward and appears again, sending foes straight up on hit. This move is a more aggressive version of Clairen's Fspecial, which can scarcely be used to challenge attacks but is mostly a flashy and deadly combo finisher, killing early if you manage to hit it while you enemy's trying to DI in.

-Dspecial
BRS fires a bullet diagonally. If used on the ground, it heads up to intercept jumping characters. If used in the air, it'll fire diagonally down and propel BRS up a bit, being useful to stall or help recover. Additional uses of aerial Dspecial in the same jump will have diminishing returns in the height gained.

I'm a huge BRS fan, and I can't believe someone made her in the workshop! I appreciate your effort in making my favourite character!

Yeah, she should be bigger, but anyway, the character is pretty basic imho, needs 1 or 2 or more gimmicks.
Still hot tho. 🗿
