This is a recording of my first clear of nightmare Scyva. The team featured in this video is Aeterna Vigilantia's Barry's Fanclub, which is focusing on NiM GftM.

Scyva is the fourth encounter out of five in the operation. She is often described as having a great, but poorly executed concept. Her fight's most prominent theme is high and low gravity areas, precise positioning, burst checks, and turret management.

The fight starts with the Omega Protocol Droid phase. The goal here is to disable the two generators in the back half of the room by aiming lasers at them. The healers each hold and aim an add in the front corners such that the laser passes through the OPD while it's shielded. A direct beam won't work, only one that the droid's shield bifurcates. The DPS cause the droid to shield by destroying swarm droids, causing them to drop a puddle that roots the OPD and triggers said shield. All the while, tanks deal with the OPD's accelerated destruction, a very dangerous green beam that has to be outranged.

Once the generators are shot twice each, catalyst phase starts. The OPD gets finished off at the start of it, and DPS turn their attention to catalysts spawning around the room. If a catalyst finishes its channel, the group dies. Meanwhile, one of the healers is blocking beams from the sides of the room in order to buff everyone temporarily so that we can meet the check. This is done by using the shield dropped by the OPD.

After that, DPS focus on the blue turret while the temporary buffs gained in the previous phase are removed. The tanks have been dealing with that turret since the OPD died. It shoots twice per channel and targets random people. If anyone other than the tanks gets hit twice without defensive cooldowns, they die (even tanks die if they're unlucky with defense and shield chance). The turret can be body-blocked, but the shots also knock whoever is blocking back. Once all the buffs gained during catalysts phase are removed, the turret should be pushed into inactivity and Scyva finally joins the fight.

Scyva herself brings two more phases to the encounter. The group has to avoid rotating purple damaging areas while maintaining uptime. One of the tanks holds her and aims her radiances into the blue orbs circling around her. When they get hit by radiance, the blue orbs turn purple, and if they get hit again, they explode and deal significant damage to the group. She also shoots an interceptable beam at the tank. At this point of the fight, the left half of the room (looking at the throne from the entrance) has low gravity, while the other half has high gravity. The left half is more blue, and the right half is more red. Players on the left half gain a movement speed buff on the left side, and a slow on the right half. The group aims to be on the left half when Scyva does atomic scattering, and on the right half when she does upheaval. After four radiances, she channels ignite core, a move that deals more and more damage to everyone in the group. If she completes the channel, the group wipes. To prevent that, the group must burn through the shield that she puts on herself immediately before ignite core. Once the shield is removed, she can be interrupted. At this point, the blue turret reactivates, and the tank who isn't holding Scyva must return to it and control it. After another four radiances, the turret should be pushed and the atomic-upheaval-radiance-ignite-turret pattern repeats until Scyva's health drops below 30%, triggering extinction phase with the next atomic scattering.

At this point she will start channeling extinction protocol every once in a while. During this channel, group members will have highly damaging circles placed beneath their feet, which they need to move out of. Around the second time she does it, the blue turret will reactivate a final time. If group members drop extinction circles on the turret, the turret will take damage and be destroyed. After that, all that matters is finishing off the remainder of Scyva's health between extinctions and atomic scatterings. It is rare for the whole group to survive at this point, given how little room there is to work with to avoid extinction.

My job in this group is holding Scyva. As a vanguard tank in this role, the hardest part of the fight is actually the OPD phase because my toolkit isn't well suited for accelerated destruction. Quite a few things went wrong in this pull, but it was a clear nonetheless.
