Calradia 1417: How To Snowball
By Eidolon
One of the easiest ways to power through Calradia 1417.

This covers exactly what to do during character creation while explaining what my choices were.
^ Also covers from early to mid/late game.

If this guide is done right, you will easily stomp any lord you run into, and will be able to take castles / towns and be able to hold them.

Beware, you do need good combative skill for this guide. You're expected to solo groups of faction cavalry.

Character Creation
> Start a new game

> Select Female
^ Read the paragraph on sexism and make your decision off that

> Select that your father was a Travelling Merchant
^ This will give you +1 Riding, Inventory Management, Leadership, and +2 Trade
^ This also gives +15 Two Handed and 250 Denars

> Select A Craftsman's Apprentice for your early life.
^ This gives +1 Strength and Intelligence. (Also gives +1 Engineer and Trade)

> Select you were a Lady-In-Waiting for your Adult life
^ This gives +1 Riding, Wound Treatment and +2 Persuasion
^ Stupid Thing is that it gives you a Spirited Courser and 100 Denars

> Select Wanderlust for what inspired you to leave.
^ This gives +2 Agility

> Spec into 6 Strength, 9 Agility, and 12 Intelligence

> Get 2 Ironflesh, 2 Power Strike, 4 Surgery, 3 Wound Treatment, 2 First Aid

> Spec fully into two handed weapons. (Should put you to 50 Two Handed)
Early Game
> After making your character, chose Jelkala in the Rhodok Republic as your starting position.

> Skip the merchants quest, go to Jelkala and sell everything except your clothing, and food.
^ SELL THE SPIRITED COURSER AND EQUIP THE SADDLE HORSE

> Buy any in-expensive one-handed. (Bowmen Sword or Sabre/Scimitar is great)
^ Make it 400 or less

> Go straight to the Dhorak Keep (DO ANY ENCOUNTERS WHILE GOING THERE)
^ ONLY FIGHT LOOTERS ON YOUR WAY THERE

> Go into Dhorak Keep and talk to Sir Rucas. Buy All of the Balion Knights, If there are 5 or less Balion Knights, also buy the Infantry.

! KEEP AT LEAST 500 DENARS, DO THE MATH !
Mid / Late Game
(Best faction for you to conquer first is the Vaegirs, you'll curb stomp any of their lords)

! WHEN FIGHTING LORDS, BAIT ALL OF THE ENEMY CAVALRY ON YOU THEN KILL THEM WHILE YOUR CAV CHARGE !

> When you level up, spec up to 12 Strength and get 4 Ironflesh and Power Strike. ! PUT ANY EXTRA POINTS INTO MEDICAL RELATED SKILLS OR LOOTING !
^ After that, spec into 12 Agility to get Riding 4
^ After that spec into 15 Intelligence for more medical skills.

Update the skills from then on yourself, but rinse and repeat.
Don't buy any more infantry, that is just as a starting out placement.

Later on, you will have a dozens of Balion Knights because they regen in Dhorak Keep every few days, during Sieges you will huddle them together and you go in yourself to kill the majority of the enemies. By then you should have some decent armor and weapons to be able to do that.

ONLY SEND IN YOUR KNIGHTS IF YOU OUTNUMBER THEM, OR THEY'RE LOW TIER ENEMIES.

USE YOUR BRAIN, CAVALRY IS MEANT FOR USING HORSES, NOT TANKING DAMAGE LIKE HIGH TIER INFANTRY IN SIEGES
(You can use Balion Infantry as units to attack during sieges later on once when you have the money to afford 60+ of them)

! If you capture a castle, take ownership of the first one you capture so you can appoint one of your companions to office !
This is because once you have a companion in office, you can defer the appointment of castles you capture and have troops automatically put in them for you. You have to talk to your companion at your court to gain ownership of that fief and the troops will stay in that fief's garrison.

You can use Balion Longbowmen / Infantry as castle fillers to get 50/60+ units in a castle so it isn't sieged.
Army Construction
Here is how your army should be formed:

Normally 100% Cavalry, Balion Knights (Once you have a castle/town, start training your own custom troops. GET HEAVY HORSEMEN)

For Sieges: 100% Infantry, Balion Infantry or some other tanky high tier (Rhodok Sergeant or Custom Troop Sergeant, you want shields)

(50 Balion Knights can easily crush an army of 400 if you know what you're doing)
