Dragon Nest Starter Guide
De către Nyagro
YO! 'SUP? This is just a brief guide for players who are new to the game on how to get startet and which things you should pay attention to so that you don't regret anything later on (♥♥♥♥♥♥ feeling, trust me. I had more than enough where I nearly smashed my keyboard).
Today I exceptionally try to be a nice guy and tell you what I consider as basic knowledge to play the game so that you can consider yourself not as a experienced player but let's say as a experienced Newbie
Besides I'm not taking any responsibility for any damage caused by the given information so don't blame me for any mistakes and don't have high expectations on a advanced guide which tells you how to do all the dungeons and other stuff in detail. I ain't gonna do all the work for you.

Introduction
Like mentioned before I'm not taking any responsibility since I downloaded the game from the official website one year ago (there shouldn't be any big differences in the game itself anyway) and Valve hasn't introduced any function to log in with an already existing account.
SERIOUSLY, WHY THE ♥♥♥♥ SHOULD I CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT ALTHOUGH I ALREADY HAVE ONE IN WHICH I'VE INVESTED MONTHS OF BLOOD, TEARS AND FRUSTRATION (because of the enhancing system, but I'll come to that later).
SO PLEASE VALVE FIX DAT ♥♥♥♥.

Howsoever, I'm sure you aren't reading this just to see how pissed I am and say: "EY, YO I GIVE A DAMN ♥♥♥♥ 'BOUT YA ♥♥♥♥♥♥ COMPLAINTS, JUST GIMME HINTS ON HOW TO GET PRO AND BE A BADASS SO I CAN BEAT UP EVERYONE ELSE BRO!"
Not like care about that anyway because this is a starter guide especially for noobs. (Experienced players won't get special information here. If you consider yourself as one and don't want to get bored, get the hell out consider skipping this guide; and besides, I don't see myself as a pro, just not as an utterly noob)

PS: If you find any mistakes in grammar, orthography etc. you can keep them.

Now lets get started ~

Interface
So firstly, let us take a look at the interface (is that even the correct name for it?) I mean all the stuff you can see on your screen when you are in the actual game. If you ever have played RPGs before you won't get overstrained so far.
But just in case I give you a short explanation:

1: HP: most important bar in the game, if it depletes to zero you'll die and end up as a floating tissue
2: MP: used for active skills
3: Life stones; you can revive yourself with the blue ones and your comrades with the red ones
4: No good: enemies; kill them, kill everything with a red bar over the head
5: Good: dead enemy; will drop loot and give EXP
6: Indicates in which dungeon with which difficulty you are
7: Active quests; pay attention to them since in Dragon Nest many quests can't be solved by simply making your way through a dungeon; some have certain conditions
8: Combo chain: the amount of hits you've made; if an enemy punches you in the face or if you make no hits in a specific time (~ 2 seconds), the counter will drop to zero
9: Points: the more points the better the chances for good rewards at the end of the dungeon; you increase them by doing combos, killing enemies and destroying props
10: Chat: shows nearly every ♥♥♥♥ that is happening; good to annoy other players
11: Skill slots: by pressing the number you'll do a big BOOM which blasts away enemies, depending on the skill of course
12: EXP bar: indicates how much you'll need to lvl up (next to it is the stamina bar (don't know the real name for it but you get the gist) so you can't go high end on the first day)
13: A lot of other things I don't want to explain; go and do it yourself by clicking on all of them
Classes
Well it's classes or characters. It doesn't actually matter in the game they are all the same.
Assuming that you somehow managed to create an account and already have logged in you should be able to create your first character.
And SURPRISE IT'S GENDER BASED! You won't be able to customize your character visually very much either.
However, that doesn't mean there isn't much variety about the characters. Each of them has a really unique playstyle and depending on which type in games you prefer you should choose the suitable character.

One very awesome system of character development in Dragon Nest is that you first obviously decide which character you want to play. After reaching lvl. 15 you will have to make the probably most important choice in the game: You decide which "specialization" you want to have. That means you decide on a certain more "specific" playstyle and develop it further. Finally, at lvl. 45 you can choose a last advancement of your "specialization" to gain some extra cool shiny skills to show off.
It's a bit hard to explain and I won't go into detail about all the advancements a character can make and which choices you have.
If you want to learn more about it click here.[dragonnest.gamepedia.com]

But I suggest you should try everyone out at least for one or two hours just to get the feel for it ~

Warrior

That ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is the Warrior (I simply don't like him since he can be annoying as hell in PvP with his ♥♥♥♥♥♥ juggles. Assuming that you are going up against a pro, he will try to combo you for roughly 5 minutes straight so you can go and order a Pizza meanwhile. But I suck at PvP anyway so I won't get too mad about it).
He likes to mess around with his claymore, has many offensive skills, decent armor and prefers pure brute violence and basically is a good allrounder. Therefore he is suited for beginners or if you have no idea for what to decide (I hate him so I didn't choose him).

Some characters like Warriors are especially strong in the beginning since a lot of their attacks have knockbacks and can hit multiple enemies at once, therefore you can spawn these attacks like an unskilled coward until you smashed everything to death without any risk of being counterattacked. But that's okay. In the very first dungeons at least.

Archer

My personal favourite (not only because she's female) since she's most likely the fastest class in the game, has very low armor but compensates for it with a vast arsenal of escape-, counter- and mobility-skills. She makes full use of her bow and can kick butts. Literally.
Unfortunately she's also very weak at the start and improves with the skills you learn afterwards. Later on she can specialize in using more her bow and become a sharpshooter who specializes in piercing enemies from afar and making them to swiss cheese or she sacrifices most of her bow skills and become an acrobat to learn devastating kicks so you can melee, run around the battlefield doing pappy moves and somersaults and kick butts.
She loves to kick butts. And so do I.

Sorceress

Typical Sorceress who takes the role of a mage like in any other RPG and focuses on ranged attacks. Therefore good positioning is essential for her. She's also very lightly armored but in exchange for it has a very high damage output and can do a lot of AoE attacks. So she's perfectly suited for crowd control but can be a very tough opponent in PvP too.
She can specialize in being a mystic and gain some extra buffs and further improved crowd control or can become an elementalist which is the class with the highest damage output in the entire game.

Cleric

That guy with the swag haircut is very diverse. He can heal allies and has much defensive power but can deal a quite high amount of damage too althogh he's often considered as a more defensive character.
After lvl. 15 he can specialize in his defensive skills by increasing armor and health and become a friggin' tank who can take more punches than Mike Tyson without even twitching. Or he can become a Priest who comes along with better healing-skills for himself and his bro in the party (every party is happy with a paladin).

Tinkerer

This cute little girl is supposed to have a lot of "moe" and is only for pedo-players. On the EU servers she was the latest one released and can be compared with a summoner. Well that's not exactly how to put it. She can also do buffs, debuffs, AoE-attacks and instead of summoning giant scary monsters she comes with explosive ducks and her best friend Wall-E who can rocket everyone to death. When she specializes in becoming an Engineer, she can have better summoning and heavy attacks and turns into a walking arsenal so she can now nuke everything to death. Or you become an alchemist and prefer a supportive role in your party although she seems to like wielding bubble-guns instead of bazookas.

Kali

*UPDATE: Looks like the developers are speeding up; SHE'S OUT NOW, YAY!*
Yup, here we go! Although she isn't released on EU servers yet that exhibitionist serves her role as an exotic-fanservice very well and is, without a doubt, made excusively for the male audience with some very bouncy uh... arguments.
Like you can imagine she's way too light armored but she has a very high DPS and kills her enemies by slapping them with pretty fans in mid-range with nice, neat, shiny, flashy boom-boom-zoosh- skills which get rid of any enemy.
At lvl. 15 she can specialize in ranged combat by joining the dark side, summoning demons or she can do Xena-style by wielding double chakrams and making Goblin-sushi on battlefield.

Assassin

Ezio Auditore unfortunately is only released in Korea and Japan I believe. I'm sure it'll take some time until he comes to the EU servers. Therefore I don't know very much about him except his stealth gameplay which kinda goes without saying.
For those of you who aren't capable of Korean, you can visit the Dragon Nest SEA Wiki[dnsea.wikia.com] to learn more.
*UPDATE*: BANZAI! Looks like he was released a few days ago. When released in Korea there've been rumors that he was quite OP though. Let's hope it's not the case ^^
Further Classes (seriously?!)
LULZ?! I can't add anything more to the "Classes" section. Is there a character limit per section? I've wasted one hour to figure dat ♥♥♥♥ out. Would be nice if someone could answer me that question. Maybe I'm also a bit retarded concerning that matter. Well either way I'll continue on this way then.

YO, sorry I'm that late with the news but I'm not active in Dragon Nest anymore, at least for the time being. I kind of lost my ambition -not only but also because- it has been confirmed in an interview that Dragon Nest 2 is in development . They seem to get rid of everything that was annoying in Dragon Nest in my point of view: more realistic Graphics => less cartoonic; and no more dungeons => open world. Anyway that's just my opinion so don't start a sh!tstorm or anything. I won't pay attention to that kind of stuff anyway. However, Dragon Nest 2 is probably far in the future since the announcement is actually pretty old but still there's no trailer, teaser or anything which indicates more.
*UPDATE*: Uh... yeeeeeeah.... maybe some of you already figured out the reason of my disappointment. There has been a Teaser and Dragon Nest 2 is coming out soon, and I was like HELL YEAH!
But only for mobile devices, then I was like FCKDATHJHGJ&"$/(&TSA8t6TthifuvUDHJ

Anyway here comes the really relevant news for you guys: looks like there has been revealed another character named Lencea (sorry that the pic isn't transparent now but Photoshop likes to fck with me currently. I'll fix that as soon I've solved the other issue). Of course she's only available in Dragon Nest SEA for now. You don't have to be Einstein to figure out that her main seems to be a spear (or staff) like her name implies. Obviously I don't know sh!t about her playstyle but it seems quiete flashy.

But my talk is actually wasted. Go and watch the teaser:

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand another one: Firstly announced only for Korea though, a brand new character has been revealed. This one gives me the chills and my fingers are really itching to try it out asap. The gameplay seems so beserk like, not to mention the robo-arm is badass. I bet this one has been inspired by Terminator but no one actually gives a sh!t about copyright infiringement. No but seriously I love it so much that I think to cheat on my acrobat.

Tutorial
Right at the beginning you are confrontated with a crucial step of every game: The tutorial. So pay close attention and learn to aim and position yourself since Dragon Nest features a fast paced action combat where you have to know the reach of your skills in order to use them properly (of course you need to know more but that'll come in another section).
In the tutorial you have to rescue the little missy with a very squeaky voice from the Goblins who are going to rape her.
Nothing too difficult here.
The controls are explained so just go and kick butts.

Getting Started
So you mastered the tutorial? Congrats! When you beat up all the goblins and rescue Baby Born she'll get unconscious for no reason at all and you'll take her to the Prairie Town nearby were an old midget will welcome you. Talk to him. He will offer you another tutorial and I suggest you accept the offer so I can skip a lot of talk about the basics of the combat system here.

After that you get yor first real quest. Here you have to enter a dungeon by passing the shiny blue glowing portal. There you can decide whether you want to join a party or not but at the very beginning it's faster soloing. When you enter the dungeon you can decide which difficulty you want to have.
Now, you can easily choose "Master" and get the most EXP but it's only adviseable when you are NOT playing as an archer (I had the biggest difficulties with her in the beginning because I hadn't any of this super-dynamic-action-speedy-hyper-moves so I got kicked my ass pretty fast and suffered countless meaningless deaths which sadly only can serve as an example here; but maybe you aren't as stupid as I am trying to go berserk with only a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ shortbow against a mob of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ insane goblins on steroids).

IF YOU ARE FEELING THAT THE GAME'S TOO EASY FOR YOUR PRO SKILLZZ YOU CAN ALSO DO ABYSS MODE SOLO AND DIE IN VAIN LIKE [BADASS ME].

From now on it's simple: go in, kill everything and talk to our bro Timothy to complete the quest. After that you'll get a rating. Depending on how well you've done, the chests you can choose from will have better rewards.

After that you can invest your first skill points in learning some skills. The animations of the skills are awesome but some skills are crappy so pay attention.

Basics Of Comboing

NAW YA BORED SMASHING THE LEFT AND RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON OVER AND OVER AGAIN AREN'T YA'? Well, even if not you should consider learning your character and the benefits of your skills so you don't suck in PvP (I suck in PvP but that's not due to my lack of combos).
If you are a Warrior for instance the easiest combo you can do when you start off is tapping 1, 2, 3 on your keyboard. The animation of the first punch in the face is fast so you won't have an opening in front of you and it staggers the enemy. The slash has a longer animation before you actually execute the attack but since the enemy was staggered before it isn't any problem. Finally you give the final blow with 3 and also pushing them away from you so you can recover from the last animation.

Some animations can be cancelled with the immediate execution of certain skills.
THAT'S THE REASON WHY YOU HAVE TO "INVESTIGATE" YOUR CHARACTER AND THE SKILLS TO FIND OUT WHICH ACTIONS CAN BE CHAINED TOGETHER IN A REASONABLE WAY.

Enhancement

You will get some crappy gear quite early in the first dungeons. Simply collect the suitable ones and the fragments (the shiny crystals from looting) and go to the local Blacksmith to make your gear more useful.

And here comes the origin of the most frustration and aggression in Dragon Nest (in my point of view)
When the blacksmith enhances your gear it gets from +1 to +2 and then to +3 and so on (when your weapon is +8 or higher it will have a nice visual shiny special effect so you can impress your dudies). However, from +6 onwards there is the probability of DESTROYING your armor (in my case I've managed to get rid of my best epic gear by trying to enhance them to +8. You can prevent your gear from being wrecked however if you buy jellies from the cash-shop).
The probability of failure (destroyed, level decrease, level stagnation) increases as you level up your weapon/armor
A full list with the probability of success, depending on what you try to enhance can be found here.[dragonnest.gamepedia.com]

There are many tips out there on the internet which are supposed to increase you chance of enhancing successfully but unfortunately none of them worked for me even once since it's still based on probability.

so you will spend most of your money in enhancement because you have to buy A LOT of weapons/armor where in the end eventually one or two remain unless you are a lucky bastard.

Of course you will someday find rare or better armor or craft epic one and be like "HELL YEAH! INCREASE MY STATS BY OVER 9 000!!!" and you get the idea of enhancing it (the highest increasement of the stats you get from +6 onwards) so you want to get it to at least +8 and of course end up in turning it into a bunch of scrap.

Leveling Further

By completing quests you can easily get to lvl. 15 in no time and that should be your aim: Your class specialization.

NOW PAY YOUR UTMOST ATTENTION:
WHEN YOU'VE DONE YOUR QUEST FOR THE CLASS SPECIALIZATION, DON'T GO TO THAT EVENT PLANNER IRENE TO COMPLETE THE QUEST! Right? Irene. That girlie whose clones are in every hub and wear Hello-Kitty pants;
SHE'LL SEDUCE YOU:
(well, I bet you would like that...)

[peeping is bad; of course I'm no pervert; I wasn't the one who took the picture]

Sorry, I didn't mean it like that, since she's so kind and gives you a <3 SKILL RESET SCROLL FOR FREE <3 when you complete the quest. But after you receive it, it will expire within 7 days. So simply don't complete the quest until you know that you've ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up your skills.
End
So that's it so far. From now on the proceedure you'll make may vary. Some people simply want to enjoy the game with their friends while others want to do speed runs and to level up as fast as possible.
Either way it's recommended to make use of the so called "Mentor- Apprentice -System" (I don't know whether it's called like that but you get the idea)
When you are on a low level search for a kind player who isn't an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and ask him whether he can be your mentor. You will have a few benefits like EXP boosts. But there are a bunch of leveling guides out there. They'll do a better job than me.

Special Thanks to:
- my boredom with which I was able to pull off this ♥♥♥♥; thanks to that my fingers are hurting now
- the internet, offering a few pics
- the Dragon Nest Wiki.[dragonnest.gamepedia.com] You can find much useful stuff there. I ended up in spending hours at their site. It's quite recommendable.

Of course thanks to you for reading this guide and don't let my ♥♥♥♥♥♥ mood Influence you. ~~~~~~*high five* and have fun~~~~~~

@Olaffff yeah, the UI isn´t the best, but the chat works like in any other RPG. Just type in the specific command before your text message without the " ":
"/s" for the general chat,
"/g" for guild chat,
"/p" for party
"/w" to whisper
not that difficult to remember, dunno whether they changed that since I haven´t played for quite a while though...

@Dick Dickson's Dickey Dickinson (seriously dude whats up with that name ^^)
naaah.... sorry I don't know that for sure. Most of the time I sticked to May since she was one of the first avaiable, but actually I never cared much about the gifts they send me, I simply wanted to get rid of the garbage in my inventory ^^

Just a little question, what are the best npcs to give gifts?
Nyagro  [autor] 30 iul. 2015 la 3:21
@ElemiX yeah, I expected this may come up :3 The reason why I didn't include Avenger is that, no matter what the others say, I can't see him as a real "new" class. In my point of view he is an alternate version of a sword master with different skills. But actually you could be right. I might add him when he is released in the West maybe ^^
