How to directly load a specific test chamber or level in singleplayer

This guide will show you how to use console commands to directly load the Test Chamber or level you want without playing through the whole chapter.

Why should i do that?
The benefits:
  • Not having to play through the whole chapter to reach the level you want.
  • This method doesn't count as a cheat so you will be able to get achievements.
  • The ability to reload a map again and again till you get the achievement you want.
    (e.x. The Overclocker)
Enabling the Developer Console.
Why?
In order to get where we want we will use console commands, so before you start you should have Developer Console enabled.

How to do it:
Main Menu\Options\Keyboard&Mouse\Allow Developer Console\Enabled

Now whenever you want to bring out the console you have to (by default) press: ~
How to load your desired level.
  • Press ~ to open the Dev console. (It's under the Esc button)
  • Type
    changelevel
    or
    map

    IMPORTANT NOTES!

    NOTE 1: The "map" command will sometimes disable the achievements
    NOTE 2: If you want to earn achievements you will have to use the "changelevel" command.
    NOTE 3: Because the "changelevel" command changes the level, you should have already some level loaded. So you just have to press Continue Game and then open the Dev Console.


  • Now you should write the right BSP (the maps name) and hit Enter.
    Examples:
    changelevel sp_a2_trust_fling
    changelevel sp_a2_pit_flings
The Map List:
NOTE: The " //Relaxation Vault " and all the others after " // " is just for you to understand which level will be loaded. You don't need to type them, but if you do the console will work just fine because it will ignore anything after " // ".

To anyone who is curious, this method also works for jumping through chambers without losing access to developer commentary. So you no longer need to play through the entire chapter just to listen to one piece of the commentary at the very end of the chapter.
