(continued from last comment) Start feeding it the crystal. You shouldn't get knocked off, I tested this and haven't gotten knocked off once, but it wouldn't hurt to keep the parachutes on you. Just keep feeding it, and before you know it, Crystal Wyvern! This doesn't take very long, only an hour for a 150 on official rates(As an ark player, you should know that an hour in ark is 10 minutes of progress in any other game), and is much easier to pull off. But the egg method you can do at any level, the passive taming after 65, so it's up to you.

Hey nooblets, this is a good guide for stealing, but a much easier method I found is passive taming. You have to be level 65 to passive tame them. You can use primal crystal which you get from knocking out a female wyvern for max taming effectiveness, but if you don't have the materials to do that, use regular crystal. Find a crystal wyvern, not an heir, and wait for it to land. Climb on its back with the crystal in your last slot(keep a few parachutes just in case). Stand on the area between it's wings and go prone.
