Taming Doggo
  • Obtain Paleberries (the red one), I needed two

  • Find lizard doggo and get close enough so he starts backing off, then turn around (he gets closer if you don't look at him). If you have the FOV at max you can turn until he is at the screen border to make him come closer

  • Right click and hold your berry stack to split them and single out a berry

  • Pick berry up with left mouse button and drop it next to the inventory somewhere on the screen, this will actually drop it on the floor

  • Let the doggo eat it

  • As soon as the berry disappears from the ground, spam E on the doggo until the Inventory opens

  • If he runs away you were likely too late (or early) and need to start over. (You can try as often as you want)
More info
Untamed doggos can despawn like other animals

You can have multiple doggos

He's not afraid of anything you do (chainsaw, etc)

He will not enter the car/train

You can't pick him up

You can still kill him, be careful. Especially when fighting animals.

The pathfinding is somewhat stupid, especially in regards to man-made structures like walkways and ramps, he uses them if you do but occasionally gets caught on corners and will not reliably use them when trying to find a way around an obstacle. He will successfully go around machines and belts that block his path most of the time.

He can't jump, which means he can't pass over belts on the lowest level. Make sure the locations you are most often are reachable without jumping.

Once befriended, he no longer needs anything to eat it seems.

There's a single slot in his inventory that gets populated with a random item occasionally so check it every now and then, this includes unusable items as of this alpha.

That slot can also accept items. In case you want to pick up a rare item you can use that slot to temporarily store something to free up one of your own slots.

He doesn't seems to "forget" you until you die, be sure to have some berries stored somewhere to tame him again. His status persists when saving, at least in single player.

Sometimes he backs up from you slowly, just wait, as soon as he made some distance he likes you and follows you again. This seems to be some weird path finding issue.

He seems to wander off sometimes, especially when he can't find a way to you. Be sure to be reachable again soon enough or you will lose him.

He will try to reach you even if it means taking a huge detour.

Since there's no way to pick him up, which means he stays at his location forever if he gets stuck and can't get out of his own.

He loses you while you are in the air. Jumping with the exoskeleton is almost guaranteed to make him lose you and run off into a random direction. Just go after him and he eventually turns around and follows you again

You can build a pen (concrete foundation with walkways around it) to keep your doggo safe. He still finds stuff.
