Tower of the Dragon-God

Description
Thanks to everyone who has subscribed so far, you have helped in making this mod #31 in the Top Rated All Time section! For those that haven't subscribed yet, why not take a look to see why this is the number 31 Top Legend of Grimrock Mod on Steam Workshop, and might I add that it became rank 31 within the first 18 days of being on Steam Workshop!

IMPORTANT COMMUNITY-WIDE EVENT: Working on the final version now, V2.0 "In the Chaos Realm" and anyone that leaves a comment with a reasonable suggestion will be included in the end game credits (Unless you don't want to be, then I won't put your name in it). So from now until I release V2.0, any reasonable suggestions will get you into the credits, even if I don't use your suggestion I still think you deserve credit for it! Even though this mod is a project made by one person, I believe that to make this game great this mod should become a community wide effort, so whatever you would like to see or think should be seen please come forward and suggest it. Like I said, I will take any reasonable suggestions and your name will be in the end game credits, along with what your suggestion was and how I used it in the mod!

Note from the Author, Donoknight:I have made my return to the workshop! After I created my most renowned mods, "Halls of the Lich King" and "Return of the Lich King", I return with a mod that I believe bests both of those combined definitely larger than both, having a total of 15 floors, and I am already working on more! If you didn't like either of the stated above games, don't just pass this game because of those ones, this game has nothing to do with either, it is it's own unique make that sets it apart from my other ones, as well as seperates it apart from mods made by other people. I put a lot of work into it, so I hope everyone gives it a try, remember to like, if you don't like, it would be nice if you stated why, the dislike button doesn't tell me anything that I should do to fix it.

Backstory: Many stories have been generated over the years about a cult that worships the god of destruction, or by what this cult calls him, the Dragon-God. In the days of old, this cult gained land and power through military conquest, but even this is unknown. Recently people have been disapearing and rumors have spread that they are being sacrificed to this Dragon-God within an old crumbling tower. This couldn't be the same cultists, the first mention of the worshipers of the Dragon-God in history was about five-hundred years ago. Then again, tales tell of the Dragon-God's priests and how they were unbelievebly powerful, maybe powerful enough to raise their followers from the dead? But could even the Dragon-Priests sustain their own lives for so long? These are some of the things we must find out, go to the Tower of the Dragon-God, find out what happened to the missing people, and destroy whatever monstrosities that may now be haunting the ancient, mysterious Tower...

Description:This dungeon will test your skill at Legend of Grimrock fully, this isn't your normal walk in the park dungeon that anyone can make. I have put a lot of time into this and have made it very difficult. There are a total number of 15 floors, each with it's own array of traps, puzzles, and/or monsters. (IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU USED A TROOP FROM PREVIOUS ADVENTURES, AS THIS DUNGEON IS VERY HARD FOR LEVEL ONE CHARACTERS) I personally like video games that are hard so many of the things that I made in this mod are what I would expect to see in a good, difficult mod. I played through it entirely and I thought it was hard, but I have the benefit of knowing exactly what is happening so I am at a unfair advantage as compared to you, so if there is anything wrong, let me know and I can adjust to make it easier/harder. I put much of my time working on enviroment details, such as the lighting, which I really enjoy. (Legend of Grimrock has, in my view, some of the best lighting in any of the games I play, I had a lot of fun working with the lighting, to fully enjoy the marvilous lighting work in Grimrock and in this mod, it is best to not use a torch.) It may be hard finding an area of this mod that is bare of any scenery/props. The dungeon is 15 floors now, but I have plans to finish the final parts of it soon, whenever I have time to put to it. The final dungeon will be around 30 floors (exact amount will be given closer to release), so there is going to be a lot more dungeoning and storyline to follow!

Guess what! I have found out the way to start editing my own custom monsters and items and wallsets and so on! Here is the new stuff that you will only find here! The monsters may be under or over powered still, so let me know how I did!
Fire Golem-Edited fire version of Warden/Guardian, has redder armor and I have changed his flails into lava flails that also glow in complete dark! Immune to fire, slightly increased attack and health.
Skeleton Warlord (name to be revised to Forge Skeleton)-
A coal-black,dark-red skeleton that wields fire spear and lava shield, increased attack and health from original.

Update Info:

V1.5- Lots more updates and bug fixes, added two new custom monsters, Fire Golem and Skeleton Warlord, both created and script by myself so you won't find these monsters anywhere else! (I probably will rename skeleton to be called Forge Skeleton. Also sorry about the preview pics of both of them, mainly the skeleton though, background looks horrible but it looks really good in the dark dungeon. You may find similar monsters to the ones that I made, but those won't be exactly these ones, unless someone copies my designs...)
Coming Soon- V2.0 "Into the Chaos Realm" update
This update will add over 15 more floors, will include custom wallsets, decorations, and over 10 custom monsters created and scripted by myself, thats not even mentioning anything that I find useable on Grimrock Nexus! It will also include around 5 new spells (number may vary, to be determined closer to finish, having a difficult time getting the scripting correct), cutscenes and a true end worthy of a over 30 floor dungeon!

Thanks to the creative people over on Grimrock Nexus for sharing some great creations.
Open Sky for Temple Wallset-by Geistertanz-http://www.nexusmods.com/grimrock/mods/257/?
Used Night Sky for top of tower.

I actually did consider dabbling in LoG2 modding at one point but... eh, time doesn't go by as slowly as it once did. Thanks again to everyone for being awesome though, I'll never forget all my fellow LoG pals!

Goodness, people are still finding and playing LoG mods!? Glad you gave it a shot kajtek666, sorry it wasn't as good as you expected. This was sadly one of those grand projects I started but never got around to finishing, granted I was just wrapping up high school then so life got real busy real quick!
P.S: Just realized... this thing is 11 years old now and 10 since the last updated I made to it! Thank you to the recent comments here for reminding me I'm getting old!
P.P.S: Imagine... if I actually took the time to go back and actually finish this now as a grown adult, that would certainly be a bizarre conclusion to my LoG mapping days!

Well, this mod is definitely not my cup of tea, but I see, that there are people, who like it. Large rooms with tons of magic missiles of all kind, boring encounters, and bad balance (I started with lvl 14 party, because of information in description) are not the thing I expect in LoG. Golems were pretty nice challenge at the beginning, but monsters on lvl 14 are laughable, riddles non-existent and mode overall is boring AF. Stopped at lvl 13 and definitely will not come back.
If you like challenging modes with lots of twists, entertaining riddles, balanced enemies and sometimes hard fights, avoid this one at all costs.

This was a very fun mod to play with.

Excellent !

Thanks, hopefully I will be able to finish it soon.

Sorry about the room with the fireballs, you are not the only one who is having these issues, the next update that I release will fix the problem by creating something more reasonable.
Fast Eddie Feb 24, 2014 @ 10:34pm
The large room with all of the fireballs crashes the game. Every time. Unfortunately I'm going to have to pass on this mod.
