Game Changing Mods

TERRARIA OVERHAUL:

Unlike the other mods on this list overhaul doesn't actually adds any new content. What it does instead is change (or you could say... OVERHAUL) a lot of stuff in the game. I, personally, use it because of the physics and audio tweaks it introduces to the game. A lot of the stuff here can be toggled on and off so it's doesn't compromise too much if you play with some of those other big content mods. But still, overhaul is known to be a very buggy mod so use it at your on risk.

The only problem I have with this it is that the learning curve is all in pre-hard mode. Usually I give up on playing it after the mechanical bosses just because there is not much happening after that. But with just how many updates this mod receives I don't think this'll be a problem for long.

CALAMITY:

I think this mod was some of the most fun I've had with Terraria in a long time. But still I have a love/hate relationship with it. It's adds a lot of good and bad sh*t to the game.

The biggest problem this mod has for me is the LAG (OH GOD THE LAG). I was getting 12 FPS on some of the events and bosses. The particles got so crazy that sometimes I didn't even know what was happening anymore.

But other than that this mod is really solid. You pretty much get what you paid for here. A ton of bosses, enemies and even some new biomes and structures.

THORIUM:

Thorium like Overhaul and Calamity was one of the big mods that showed up in the tModLoader's trailer. It's another really big content mod with a ton of new bosses and mechanics.

I don't have anything to say about it because I've actually never played it. But from what I've heard it seems pretty fun.

Removing Annoyance
Veinminer:
This mod was given to us by the gods.
It makes so when you break an ore all of then drop at once. Makes mining a breeze.

Recipe Browser:
Basically a portable guide but with some added functionalities.

Which Mod Is This From? (WMITF):
Shows the mod which an item, block or NPC comes from.

MaxStackPlus:
This mod changes the max stack of items to 10K (or more). Can be configured.

Magic Storage:
Adds a big storage system to the game. This mod is a bit confusing at first but trust me it will help you big time.

imkSushi's Mod:
This mod gives you special tokens when you kill enemies that can be exchanged for some uncraftable items. Helps against the RNG and the grindness of some of this mob drops.

Lan's Uncraft Itens:
This mod let's you uncraft any craftable item in the game. I use this one more as safe net if I craft the wrong items.

Reduced Grinding:
Does exactly what the name says. This mod actually adds a lot of stuff so I recommend taking a look at its forum [forums.terraria.org]to see if something peak your interest.

No More Tombs:
Remove those annoying tombs when you die.

Shorter Respawn Time:
self-explanatory. Basically a cheat mod but great if you are playing with a lot of people in your server.
NPC Related
Census - Town NPC Checklist:
Modifies the housing panel to show missing NPCs. It even shows the conditions for spawning them and what mod they're from.

Alchemist NPC:
Adds some new NPCs to the game, all related to potions.
I recommend that you download the Lite version of this mod. The original one adds a bunch of unnecessary (and OP) stuff into the game.

Botanist NPC:
An NPC that sells plants. It's kinda unnecessary if you have the Alchemist NPC mod but still I like to have the option of making the potions myself.
And the NPC is a duck.

Fargo's Mutant Mod:
Adds some NPCs that sell spawners and other stuff related to bosses/events.
Helping With Bosses
Boss Checklist:
It's basically the bestiary from 1.4 but only for bosses and events. It even shows all the loot that is dropped from the boss/event.

Yet Another Boss Health Bar:
Adds a neet little health bar for bosses on the bottom of the screen. I think this mod is even coming to vanilla terraria on the next update (yeah it's that good).

Health and Mana From Bosses:
Every time you kill a boss you receive a bunch of life and mana crystals.
Great for multiplayer.

No Expert Boss Health Scaling:
Makes so you can have expert bosses and loot with vanilla HP. Good for multiplayer if your friends don't have good gear or if you're just having a hard time with the bosses.

Boss Cursor:
Adds a cursor pointing to the boss you're fighting.
More Accesories
Wing Slot / Accessory Slots + / More Accesories:
I'm a simple man. I see an accessory slot mod and I download it.
These help a lot with big mods like calamity that have so many extra accessories that you can't possibly get them all. Just reminding that those mods work with one another.

Too Many Accessories / Antisocial:
Those mods let you use accessories even on the vanity slot. Both of them do exactly the same but I prefer to use Too Many Accessories because it's tied to some items so it's less cheating I guess.

Upgraded Accessories:
This is the last accessory mod I promise. This one lets you combine a lot of the vanilla accessories.
Good Stuff
Consolaria:
Re-adds the console\mobile exclusive items into the game.

Both Evils:
Generate corruption and crimson in the same world. Doesn't work with Calamity unfortunately.

AmmoBox+:
This is one of my favorites. Adds a bunch of new ammo to the game specially on pre-hardmode.

WeaponOut:
Weapons lots of weapons. It also displays the weapon you have equipped which is pretty neet.

Wildlife Mod:
Adds some cool animals and plants to the game.
Some Other Mods
Cheat Sheet:
This is basically a cheat mod. Great to test mods and just cheating a bit.

WorldGen Previewer:
Includes a preview of the map in the world gen screen. This mod kinda messes with the world generation so I don't really like using it.

Campfire Buffs:
Makes the campfire give you some extra buffs when near it.

Destructible Tiles:
Makes some projectiles destroy tiles. Pretty useless I know.

Better Night Sky:
Gives the game a better night sky (duh).

Terraria3D:
I'll let you guess what this one does.

Copper to Wire:
Turn copper into wire. Helps a lot on the late-game when you have a bunch of copper and nothing to do with it.

Fun Death Sounds:
Just a funny mod to mess with your friends.

Remove Fishing Quest Limit:
Pretty self-explanatory. Helps a lot with the fishing achievements.
Conclusion
Ok I'm not saying that I'm the king of moding here or anything like that. I'm just looking for some good mods to play the same way you guys are so if you think a mod should be in here please say so in the comments.

I'm not playing too much moded Terraria right now because of obvious 1.4 reasons so once I get back to it I'll be taking a look at the following mods:

Leveled
OmniSwing
Spirit Mod
Critter Craze
Ancients awakened
Qwerty's bosses and items
Research System from Terraria 1.4
Fargo's Soul Mod
And finally all the mods that NXGHTMVRX recommended
(ok not all because jesus there were a lot of them)

Thanks to
Griff
Atlas
BrickMan
takizalar
Neosonic97
and NXGHTMVRX for recommending then
.

This guide is a work in progress and will be getting some updates as I find new mods to put on it.

Sorry for bad English lol
