The Problem
As of 2020, the only way to change the default field of view (FOV, for short) value in the PC version of Resident Evil: Revelations is through the use of the third-party tool Widescreen Fixer, which is unfortunately outdated and leads to a crash if used with the latest version of the game that was released back in March 2019. In order to get the tool working again, two specific files are needed from the launch version of the game which is still hosted on the Steam servers, albeit somewhat hidden.

Below are instructions to download the required files legally and get Widescreen Fixer working again.
The Solution: Roll Back
First, you should revert to the initial version of the game.

1) If you do not have it already, download the latest .NET Core Runtime[dotnet.microsoft.com]and install it. Next, get the latest DepotDownloader[github.com]release and unzip it to C:\DepotDL (for ease of use).

2) Navigate to the DepotDL folder and create a new text file in there, type rerev.exe and steam_api.dll in two seperate lines and save the text file as rerev.txt.

3) From the start menu, either search for or directly run cmd (Windows Command Line). Change the working directory to the DepotDL folder by typing cd C:\DepotDL in the command line.

4) Copy and paste the following text to the command line, change the username and password sections (XXX) in accordance with your Steam account, then run it. Note that if Steam Guard is active for your account DepotDownloader asks for the code from it during the login process, so type it too.

depotdownloader.bat -app 222480 -depot 222481 -manifest 467403469395940589 -username XXX -password XXX -dir c:\DepotDL\Download -filelist rerev.txt

5) After the process is finished, check the Download folder located in the DepotDL folder. Copy and paste rerev.exe (14.646.616 bytes) and steam_api.dll (103.920 bytes) to Resident Evil: Revelations installation folder, overwriting the other two of the same name while doing so.
The Solution: FOV Change
Once you have the older executable, you can alter the FOV value to your liking.

Get the latest build of Widescreen Fixer here[github.com]and unzip to your folder of choice.

Under the 'Main' tab, select Resident Evil Revelations from the drop-down list and click the cog icon next to it. Untick the Automatically Detect Resolution option, set Display Count to 1, change both the Uncorrected Resolution and Corrected Resolution values to match the resolution you set in-game. Finally, change the FOV value to your liking by using the slider named Vertical FOV in Degrees.

Under the 'Settings' tab, change the hotkey as needed.

You can now enable / disable your desired FOV value on the fly by pressing the hotkey. It is also possible to adjust the FOV slider by switching back to Widescreen Fixer while the game is running. Note that every time you launch the game, you have to keep Widescreen Fixer running in the background to get the change applied.

Here is a comparison shot. The image on the left shows the default FOV value, while the image on the right is taken with a value of 57 (which I personally prefer) as set in the tool:

I didn't play raid mode but I was able to complete the main campaign without any issues.

Hagron, that utility looks good enough and easy to use. Nice find, was not around obviously when I created this guide back in 2020. However, their github page has a warning about not using it in Raid mode for VAC purposes - so one should be careful about that, I guess.

change "depotdownloader.bat" to "depotdownloader.exe" in the command line

Doesn't work for me, just keeps saying depotdownloader.bat is not a recognised command

Stepneg; I'm glad to hear that. I could only test it at 1080p back then (as the monitor that I still use could not go beyond that), so your feedback for higher resolution is most welcome. Enjoy! :isitcoffee:

Thanks for this, still works and makes it playable at 3840x2160 !

So not 100% sure what happened. But it detects the hotkey for me now. WSF was just not detecting hotkey randomly until rebooted PC.

I found out that it seems to be actually possible to change the FOV on the latest version of the game by using this method here: https://residentevilmodding.boards.net/thread/12865/fov-fix (scroll to the bottom of the page to find the method I'm talking about). I do need to mention though I have not tried this method at all as I couldn't understand how to do it at all, I am posting it on here though to see if any of you can get it work as that would be great if you could and also a more detailed explanation on how to do it would be nice as well if you can get it to work.

same as MasterBinx707. WSF detects game but hotkey does not function.
