1. Mid-range Ravager Aggro vs. Settsu with Spam

0:15 → Scrat horde is a fine play here, but ghost is worth considering. You know your opponent is out of mana so wouldn’t be able to do anything about the ghost, and you may not ever have an opportunity to use it depending on how your opponent plays. Also the scrat horde is dead/useless once it kills the prowler and grabs the bridge since a smart ravager player knows that their auto-attack will quickly kill the scrats.

0:28 → Chain lightning is nearly worthless here, the stun isn’t long enough to matter so the 100 damage + extra damage from the scrats is minimal. Again, could’ve used the ghost on the prowler.

0:42 → Notice how with 5-mana, I manage to deal more damage with one unit than my opponent manages with most of the scrat horde, a fully activated propeller horde, and a chain lightning.

1:00 → Blast entry here isn’t a good move, you put yourself in a position where you have no mana to counter your opponent’s plays and throw away the fifty damage from settsu landing.

1:32 → The propeller horde isn’t effective here. The prowler is already mostly dead and you might as well just wait for settsu to reload and autoattack to kill it. By playing the propeller horde here (in the middle), you sacrifice grabbing the top bridge for a while.

1:56 → Notice that because the top bridge wasn’t grabbed, I have now caught up on XP and control both bridges (and have more health).

2:16 → Inefficient use of blast entry again, two plasma marines beats the scrat horde anyways so the landing damage is wasted. As before, puts you at less mana which means you have less available to counter plays.

2:26 → If two mana hadn’t been wasted on blast entry, chain lightning would’ve been available to be used on the stint and crossbow dudes that beat the ghost.

2:48 → Another chain lightning wasted, pretty much the same issue as at 0:28. The lost opportunity here is grabbing top bridge.

2:55 → Tantrum throwers aren’t used to grab bottom bridge from behind the prowler here and they don’t kill it so they can’t grab the bridge after combat.

3:02 → Settsu auto-attack would’ve finished the prowler off. The propeller horde is played in a position so that it doesn’t grab bottom bridge, thus an opportunity to use infiltration to grab both bridges is lost and the horde doesn’t even grab a single bridge.

3:23 → I assume my opponent is going for the kill, using the blast entry to target me directly. The infiltration is played too far away so it isn’t automatically targeting me and I had the blue golem queued/ready to be a meat shield.

The deck I used fares poorly against this much cheap spam (hordes, groups of marines). As you can see, it was a close match. If my opponent had played better, I would’ve lost, but I was allowed to control the bridges and get ahead on XP. Hitting perk 2 as fast as possible is important for a ravager player since perk 1 is useless once brutus is countered. My opponent doesn’t really have a well-built deck either, the mana average leans high and the cleaver and brother of the burning fist fill similar roles (with the brother never even seeing play). I’d suggest dropping one of those two and taking some cheap bridge grab which would also allow for faster cycling.
