Can't say I've seen that done before. I'd of put the ropes their for decoration but if you want to go all in then go right ahead.

For the MC I'd suggest connecting the A/D to threshold gates and then to the up/down nodes. So if the input is +1 it'll extend one winch and retract another and vice versa for -1. You'd have to keep the A/D as sticky though (I think).

The only other way I can think of is a PID arrangement with the cable length where A/D subtracts from the setpoint variable and then link the +/- of that through threshold gates to the up/down on the winches.
