Basic Jailbreak Rules

This guide will teach you through the basics of jailbreak, what to do & what not, to better your jailbreak experience.

Basic terms

AFK- basic keyboard actions are forbidden. This covers movement, un-afk taunts, voice commands.

Crouching is not AFK. Any order to AFK means REDs must stand up. (Unless a day staying to be crouched is active.)

AFM- away from mouse fully. This does not cover mic or chat.
Healing/Unhealing is considered AFM unless the warden orders otherwise.

AFK AFM- away from keyboard & mouse fully.

AFK/AFM does not restrict text or voice chat.

AFK Taunt - taunts that do not have a definite end (e.g. High Five) and/or do not automatically move the player (e.g Mannarobics.)
Examples of non-afk taunts are default taunts, conga, etc.

LR - last request.

FF - friendly fire.

KOS - kill on sight.

Bomb/bum rush- travel without delays or detours.
Detouring and delaying must be reasonable. You can not run anywhere you want.

Freekill - killing a RED without reason.

Baiting - when a BLU gets in melee range of a RED, generally.

Active mini-games - minigames that must be activated and/or are exited via teleportation outside of the mini-game.

Basic days

Out of Cell Rebel Day - REDs may not be outside of cells.

Inside Cell Rebel Day - REDs may not be inside cells. (Does not apply to RED minigames.)

Lava Day- REDs may not be on the floor of the map and must be on something higher. By default, beds and windows count as structures above the floor. Warden may choose to allow other structures pending no rule violations.

Taunts like the Zooming Broom do not count for Lava Day as the hitbox is still on the ground.

General Jail Rules

Doing any of the following will result in a RED being KOS, provided BLUs witnessing it:
Entering armory/secret ammo spots.
Standing in the armory doorway and keeping it open or blocking the entrance.
Blocking doorways from closing.
Map exploiting to prevent death.
Assisting rebellers as Medic.
Leaving cells via any method at the beginning of the round before there is any order to go somewhere other than your cell (the exception to this is if it is a Freeday.)


Rebels can be pardoned. (Save it not being favoritism/last RED.)
They are auto pardoned if it went away and no one saw them with a rebel status .
The same day may not be run three times in a row.

Nobody may impersonate the warden.

If the warden has not given orders before the doors open, it's a Freeday.
Excluding staff, nobody may speak over warden.

Upon warden's death, it is a Freeday, unless a BLU has taken their place.

Ghosting is forbidden. This means a dead person giving any info/influencing the game in any way.
The only exception to the ghosting rule is when a RED(s) or BLU(s) is (are) excessively delaying the end of the round and no staff are on.

Do not delay/stall the round.
No hiding in areas where you cannot be found or accessed, such as secret rooms that only work once or team-restricted areas.

REDs may not camp teleportation entrances/exits. It is considered an exploit.

Do not deliberately spread false info about the game/rules.

Orders/days that force taunts are banned. (RPS for LR is the sole exception.)

Do not use !fire unless the warden is breaking rules.

You must use the '!r' command to ask for a repeat.

You must be AFK to ask for a repeat and remain AFK for that repeat.

You are always allowed to ask for a repeat, even if it means postponing a current order. (For
example typing !r whilst crouch walking).

You must ask for a repeat within 10 seconds of the end of an order.

You must wait for an order to be done to ask for a repeat.

Only Staff are allowed to do Mic Checks.

Pro Tip

If you just started out playing jailbreak, don't go on blu team killing all of the reds.
That is not how you play jailbreak. I advise you to do !jbrules to check out the server's rules for yourself. Also, while on red (inmates) team listen closely to the warden to understand what he is saying & doing to learn for yourself.
