Squad Leader Guide

For the love of God, please learn how to squad lead.
I'm tired of matches devolving into a steamroll from either side because 1 or 2 squad leaders can organize 8 blueberries into a complete killing frenzy.
This should give you everything you need on every level, and I'll be making additions to this guide as I feel like it and get around to doing it because I don't have anything better to do with my life anyways.

Out of my 500 hours on this game at the time of writing this guide, solid 400 of them are as a squad leader, with prior knowledge carrying over from Project Reality back when it was still active. I do not claim to be some "say all, be all", and this guide serves to educate people of all levels on how to properly utilize the squad leader kit outside of the bare essentials of placing FOBs, emplacements and assorted SL capabilities. This serves to step up your game to the next level and properly utilize your squad, not your kit. If you have any questions, comment them or send them to me via Steam. If you have any insults, the same rules apply, just please make them coherent enough so I can understand with my primitive brain.

People think this game doesn't play like real life, and they're right, but the first time I tried 'leapfrog' maneuvers instead of bum-rushes, we started winning. Formations tend to get blob-shaped but as long as everyone is in generally the right place, reaction time improves. And honestly, if you force their heads down first, you've won the firefight already.

@Charlie That's why the guide tries to focus more on examples and "what if" scenarios as well as tactics, than it does on strategic approaches to the matches. Being able to execute a response to enemy actions is much more valuable than being able to execute your own plan, because rarely does everything go exactly as you envisioned it during staging phase.

A big complaint I have with Squad is that the staging phase is really short. There isn't a lot of time for you to work with other SLs to make a detailed plan, and even less to create "what if" scenarios or contingencies.
