Line history:

Evercreech Junc. - Glastonbury & Street

Line opened 20th July 1874 as an extension to the already existing Highbridge - Glastonbury line (Built 1854) by the Somerset & Dorset Railway (Merger of the DCR & SCR) as an attempt increase revenue, with the Line being built from Evercreech Junc. to Bath to meet with the midland railway in 1874, the line to Highbridge was now classed as a branch line. with the S&DR going bankrupt shortly after this was completed the line as rescued by joint action by the Midland and LSWR forming the S&DJR on 13th July 1876.
In 1923, the S&DJR became vested jointly by the SR & LMS with major changes happening in 1930. The LMS were responsible for locomotive, commercial & operating matters, while the SR was responsible for civil & signal engineering & building maintenance, coaching stock was provided jointly.
Passenger services were withdrawn from the line on 29th October 1951 & freight ceased 20th May 1963. The last scheduled service ran on 5th March 1962.

Glastonbury & Street - Shepton Mallet

The first service on the line from Glastonbury to Wells was on 15th march 1859, at this time this is where the line terminated. 1st March 1862 the East Somerset Rail built their terminus, with the cheddar valley line opening tucker street station on 5th April 1870, the two latter routes then became part of the GWR who decided that the two stations should be connected by using 200 yards of the S&DJR track. The first train ran through on 1st January 1878 with GWR trains not stopping at Priory Road this lasted until 1st October 1934 but GWR trains still had to run across the S&DJR goods sidings. Passenger services were withdrawn from the line on 29th October 1951

The Shepton Mallet to Wells section was opened by the ESR on 1st March 1862 & was converted from broad gauge in 1874 when it was taken over by the GWR. This section of line has a challenging 1.5 mile 1 in 46 gradient, a timetable from 1935 shows a train departing Wells Priory road at 09:07 was expected to arrive at Shepton Mallet at 07:20 a journey time of 13 mins (Sounds easy right?)

Bath Spa - Bristol Temple Meads

This section of line came into use on 31st august 1840 as a broad gauge line. A third rail was laid 1872 for standard gauge trains but wasn't fully completed until 1892, the line changed from GWR ownership with nationalisation of the railways in 1948 to be part of the BR western region, In 1994 Intercity operated service between Swindon and Bristol with regional railways running trains from the south coast between Bath & Bristol this becoming part of Great Western Trains on 4th February 1996.

Bath Green Park - Bristol Temple Meads

The line was created in 1835 (6 years before the GWR) as a horse drawn tramway to bring coal into Bristol from the south Gloucestershire fields. In 1844 it was converted to double track Broad-gauge by Brunel and extended to Gloucester. In 1846 the Midland railway took over the line (although the line was well into GWR territory) and converted it to standard gauge and extended the line from Mangotsfield to Bath in 1869. The Line lost it passenger services on 7th March 1966 although the line was still used for Gloucester service until 1970 and freight ceased the following year.

Radstock (west) - Bristol Temple Meads

The line was first built by the Bristol & North Somerset railway and opened to passenger on 3rd September 1873 and was acquired by the GWR on 1st July 1884. GWR converted its broad gauge line from Radstock to Frome in 1874 and the first passenger service ran the full line in 1875. The Line was closed in 1959 to passengers and to all traffic in 1968 after the line near Pensford suffered from storm damage the closure of the line had already been planned.

I notice this is marked as a work in progress despite being the last version posted for four years. Two questions:

1. Will old scenarios from the "final" 1.3 and 1.32 work on this version?

2. Can you mark this version as final to allow for scenario creation in the event that the project is complete?

Sounds like an astonishing plan already to begin with! If you need assistance, just contact me and who knows we could help each other out! I could most definitely look into scenarios at the very least, look up the timetables from when there were trains running on the line. Anyway, hit me up! Maybe we could collaborate in one way or the other. :)

As for where I'm working right now my plan will be either:

Complete the line from Witham back up to Bath including Frome to Radstock West
or
Complete the Cheddar valley line to Yatton (from Wells) and join back up with the mainline into Bristol adding the Clevedon & Portishead branches

As for making it perfect, I feel that I want to to leave some of the areas that need improvements as it reflects the build history and the improvements in route building I have made as I have built the route over the years, of course if I'm joining onto an area that was built earlier I'll touch it up to make it look nice but I don't think I'd rework an entire line.

What have I got planned for the route? I don't really know, I have no real planning on when I add to it, I usually plan with it being several stages, to give you an idea of the build area i have the track diagrams that cover all the lines between:
Tuanton, Swindon (including Swindon works), Salisbury, Savernake, Standish Junction (junction for Gloucester - Swindon, Gloucester - Bristol) & the Lines around Avonmouth & the Portishead branch line. I also have several books that cover this same area that give me photos of the Locos that worked the lines along with insight to how station looked and the line side foliage.

@Xcelatron54

I don't mean to be a dick, but I'm really curious as what you have got planned for the map. Let's say you were to continue working on it to make it perfect (because there are a few things that could use improvements), would it for example include the part from Templecombe south to Bournemouth West? Would you reconstruct the Bristol - Exeter line? I'm asking because I think that the lines do match with your Somerset & Dorset Railway Network.

If you need suggestions, might I suggest on using a trackrule like the one from the Port Road addon to make easements and superelevated turns? This could bring the quality of the network (Can't call it a route anymore, can I?) up a notch, if that is what you are aiming for.

Despite some issues, I really think that this could become my new favorite map of all time. It used to be the S&DJR, then the Port Road, well if this has GWR, LMS, and SR lines combined into a single network (SR consists were spotted on the S&DJR after all, 7F's were often used to assist the Merchant Navy's)

Seriously, I like what you've done with the network so far! And I'm looking forwards to seeing more of it!

There will be one, I've taken a break from building more of the route. So far I've only extended the line from Shepton Mallet to Witham, with only the scenery left to complete between Cranmore & Wanstrow. I might add more before releasing it like Radstock West - Frome & Witham - Frome

Any news on a update for the route?
